    Only 10 mins in, so don’t know if you notice later, but the only jobs that commoners won’t do is work on the farms (including pigs & chickens) so you will need peasants for that.
    You’ll also need peasants for some of the missions. But if you have excess peasants with nothing to do you can train them up for your military. You can then also knock down their houses to make way for extra commoner houses, production buildings and lovely decoratives 🌻

    The "call of duty" franchise could learn a lot from this game. There needs to be a "call of duty, picnic of peril" title. Or maybe the film industry could make the "The Texas chainsaw picnic".

    Next to the stone bridge icon is a wooden bridge one. You might try that one to span that gap. It might work differently. And only peasants can be assigned to farms, not commoners...so you did remember right!

    My kingdom also wins 1st prize in the beauty contests, but... I think that's only because we don't have to compete with CupboardVale. ;)
    Haha, you are so much more careful than me about certain things, but so much less meticulous about others. When I build a new village area (be they peasants or commoners) I very carefully count out the number of needed workers and plan exactly what to build in each area to perfectly use every single Fabling that moves in. For example three farms (9 workers), a granary (2 workers), a windmill (1 worker), a bakery (1 worker), and a Puppet Show (1 worker), for 9+2+1+1+1=14 workers, means I also build 7 new peasant houses for 14 new peasants in the workforce (since one for each house is wasted as a Head of Household - a mechanic which I personally don't enjoy, but whatever). Or if it were a more industrialized area, then I'd go for commoners and stone/wood/iron production with masons/plankeries/blacksmiths with maybe a marketplace and a fancy commoner building (like the concert hall) etc all adding up to the exact number of commoners I'd be getting in. I'm very meticulous about that.
    On the other hand, I don't bother really keeping people away from undesirable things. You don't want to live in between a pig farm, a chicken coop, and an iron mine? Well, too bad! Smelly/noisy areas just mean I need to add extra amenities and decoratives. :P My palace is also just sort of a jumble of buildings squished into an area to "make it fit," rather than the architectural wonder you're going for. I love your way of doing things, but for my own kingdom, I... I just can't be bothered. XD On the other hand, my villages are overflowing with benches and arches and flower pots and all sorts of lovely things.
    Were you aware that you can build decorations inside of the garden areas of peasant housing? It's not just the bees and dog houses, you can also put benches and flower pots and gazebos and other regular decorations inside their yards to make them happy. I don't remember if you've done that. :/ You should try it! It makes for very efficient use of your space... I mean, it makes your villages quite lovely and happy.
    Oh! The Arc of Pigs! Build it on a road. Literally ON the road, not next to one. It (like the arches and a few other things) is meant to be built over the top of roads and looks very nice at an intersection. You just have to be careful about not blocking entrances (so it can be tricky to place, at times).
    Bridges only work on the rivers / streams, not over lakes or such. Which is a bit sad. I wish we had bigger bridges. But once you figure out the placement, they actually do look really good going over a river. Plus, depending on your road, sometimes your Fablings will do a funny little hop at the end of the bridge as they decide to jump over the railing rather than take an extra step or two to turn a corner properly.
    Your ballistae (as well as cannon and mortars) have global range... you can place them wherever and they can target anywhere on the entire map. The game told you that when you first fiddled about with them, but you didn't remember. :P

    Look at it this way. An un-desirable building gives a home -10 mood. A yard decoration like a dog house gives +3. The cyclops just existing gives +5 so that almost covers the -10. Then, an outside decoration gives +10, an amenity gives +10 for each one, etc. Please stop worrying about placing a home near one building. Do some 'Math with Penge' and you'll figure out that it's not that bad. You must 'accrue' more knowledge about home placement ;) Good vid.

    only a third of the way through the episode and I was thinking about upkeep still.
    two stock piles and a windmill on top of the hill doing nothing but costing upkeep.

      You don’t pay for the upkeep of production buildings that have no workers & are closed. Though I think if he destroyed them he’d get the coin back but he’d lose the materials used.

    If a tile has x4 fish does that mean you can have 4 fish huts down?

      Just another observation, but the fishing spots do eventually "run out" temporarily. You fish them for a while, deplete all the fish inside them, and then they disappear. When I first noticed this I freaked out a little bit, thinking my fishery was now useless. Don't worry, they do come back! But it takes a little while for their fish to regenerate. So if possible, it's best to get more than three fishing spots within your fishery range. That way when one runs out a fisherman can just go gather fish at another spot while it respawns. If you've only got three spots, when they all eventually run out, your fishermen all just sit in their boats looking sad for a long time, waiting for the spots to refill.
      When I build a fishery now, I try to get five fishing spots inside its area, if possible. It's not necessary, but it definitely helps with having a steady supply of food.
