Praying for Mr. Mui . He went to Apple River to go tubing with friends. A friend lost his phone so he offers to look for it. He ends up getting taunted and physically abused by a large group of drunk, high, 17 and 18 year-olds.! I saw one comment that said stupidly “if he’s so out of shape why was he tubing”! What a stupid comment. The video shows the taunting and the physical abuse, at one point one of the drunkards actually had his hands arounds Mr. Mui’s neck! This is absolutely a case of self-defense! What person in their right mind taunts and physically attacks a man that is just looking for a cell phone in the water!!! They should have helped him. A man with a recent quadruple bypass, back surgery and he’s not supposed to feel vulnerable???? Give me a freaking break! This large group of young adults taunted him, ganged up on him, physically pushed him and at one point one had his hands around his neck!! The one taking the video didn’t stop even when his friends were bleeding….this tells me he only cared about getting a video to post online! In fact, he was so out of it, in the video he states “am I awake or dreaming?” I feel so bad for Mr. Mui. These drunk obnoxious older kids are totally at fault here! Too bad their friend had to die because of them. And they are NOT children as one commentor said.

      1) the phone was in a water proof baggie that would float on top of the water.

I’d bet she didn’t want to be recorded because she knew she looked like a crazy drunk in the evidence video and she knew she was a bold-faced liar, and probably didn’t want anyone (the public) to see her B.S. testimony. From the way we saw her act and look in the evidence video… it’s apparent she isn’t a shy person so I believe her decision to not be recorded was so the public couldn’t hear her LIES on the stand. I also think that a part of her must realize that SHE was one of the main catalysts that caused this event to become so out-of-control. If not for her and the consequent actions, Miu may not have been put in a position where he felt threatened for his life. I absolutely believe he felt his life was in danger and was just defending himself in a very overwhelming situation.

Those teens are going to feel a lot of guilt when they grow up and start to see things differently.
You don't just film a man and call him a pedo for no reason for views. That alone could have gotten him killed and should be illegal to yell "rapist" or "pedo" when it's a lie.
He's going to jail for life. They had the whole river but they had to hog it for themselves? Why? Madison, the "victim" who started all this was screaming in his face and telling him to go the opposite direction of his family and had her hands on him.
When they grow up and realize they put a man in jail.... maybe they're older and being picked on or walk by a group of teens heckling them maybe then they will understand their part in this. You look at things differently when you grow up.

It was then that he stumbled on their tubes and lost hos snorkel. He went to look for it in the mass of their tubes as it could have went down stream around them or under them. It was then that he went away and towards the other half of the group with the women, and it was there that he was surrounded and brought down to his most vulnerable.

Likely not, I have as I was a bouncer in a very busy bar, people that are drunk can not be reasoned with, when stuff goes south you are nothing but adrenaline and honestly the memory goes along with it so knowing what happened in comparison with what actually happened is two different things entirely, he likely was in shock at the point when he was attacked, after he realized what happened he did not know what to do or say.

Chances are… most people would. And none of us can say how he should act after the fact.. I’m sure he was traumatized and in complete shock.

Many Monday morning Qb's out here. A person has an absolute right to defend themselves from death or great bodily harm and a person is not required to leave a public place especially when rightfully searching for his belongings. If more people defended themselves against these type of aggressors these type of aggressors would leave people alone. This is what happens when a mob of people get entirely too comfortable attacking one person in a public place. It is tragic that a 17 year old had to lose his life; however, nobody forced that kid and the others to start trouble with an absolute stranger for no justifiable reason whatsoever. Actions have consequences. Had they simply minded their own business or (GOD FORBID) actually helped somebody find their phone everyone would have been better off for it. People now a days are entirely to comfortable disrespecting others and expecting nothing to happen. BE RESPECTFUL AND KIND TO OTHERS.
