Ah damn, I have the 5410 after upgrading from a 5290, and now I am due another upgrade and was looking at this. However my 5410 has an additional HDD port on the motherboard. I replaced the 4 cell battery with a 3 cell to make space for a mSATA drive, so I have a 2TB M.2 and a 1TB mSATA. The WWAN slot is already populated with a 4G LTE card. So it's 11th gen Intel XE GPU + Thunderbolt 4 vs having an additional built in drive (mainly for my backups). From the outside they look identical, that is a shame I don't think I will upgrade for now.
Wow i still have my Core i5 Dell latiture e5420 with SSD not the HD drive with 4 gig, and still working perfect fast boot time and wake time when on sleep more
I'm guessing this one has the 400nit screen? I've not seen the pre-routed antenna wires for LTE card.. that's a bit of a bummer to be honest.
can you review the 5520 next
my laptop does not show fingerprint, how can we know if we have it ?
Hi! Thx for the review. I have a question : is the secondary nvme enclosure a 2230?
how do you open the sim? I didn't see a hole for pin
Hi mate, I have a question, in general do the dell latitudes OR the dell inspirons have a better screen? (colour accuracy exc)
Your limited on better displays because they share the GPU and CPU, The only way is to get a the higher model unit not a business unit that can do 4k and higher resolution. Most of the high level or consumer model do have better displays, but are limited to battery life and are noisy because of the multiple fans to cool the GPU and the CPU.
No issue i used it as my daily driver for zoom meeting, teams and outlook email also music editing production and it ever fails me
That second m.2 slot ain't for SSD!! It's for a WAN LTE card to enable the sim slot... You also need to upgrade the display for a WAN capable display that includes the WAN antenna
You can add a ssd in this slot I can demo how if you like me to on a second video. I also setup a video card reader on the same slot but you can also convert as a ssd slot to a small version
@@Upgradetech May I ask which exact ssd model will fit? Is there any size limit? Thank you so much sir!
3:35 what should be the size of second M.2 that we can put in this slot?
It's not a second ssd slot, that is the slot for a mobile broadband card, it's used for 4G/5G ... which is why there are antennas routed to the slot and there's a SIM card slot on the rear
ok it is little different I dont have smart card reader in laptop
hi there,
the simcard reader, have you ever tried to use it to connect to the internet?
been trying to utilize it for internet connection but it seems it is not connect. checked the bios and what i see is "Cellular device {None}
will appreciate your reply
@@Upgradetech I opeded the laptop. i discovered that the celullar module is missing... and i bought the laptop new...
Hi! Can you tell me what is the laptop made of? Plastic or magnesium or something else?
where are the speakers for this laptop, I feel like its coming from inside the motherboard no speakers are there at outer layer ?
I've just bought this 5420 dell latitude laptop with i5 processor, being unhappy with the display quality (very limited brightness, average contrast, colors looks a bit dull and inacurate,...), i've cheked the display properties under windows 10, i found that the panel is only a 6 bits (on external IPS monitor with HDMI cable it's 8 bits).
I'm wondering if it's normal for this laptop to use a 6 bits IPS panel and did DELL equip all 5420 with a cheap 6 bits IPS panel ?
All the i5 aren't very good they have less core to run application, Little you can do on getting more performance out of this my recommendation is to add on the second empty m.2 slot a Intel if possible to increase performance a little.
@@Upgradetech thank you for the quick response but I was talking about display ( the CPU performance is enough and fine for me), the screen of my latitude 5420 is the worse IPS panel I've seen and it's the most annoying thing for me in this laptop, thus i would to know if it's common for all the 5420.
Please make a video on installing Ubuntu 20.04 lts on this dell latitude 5420
Please please please
Let see if I can by asking a vendor for a replacement battery to sponsor a video.
Hi, I have this laptop and I can’t get the start button to work. It’s not doing anything and the search button next to it, I can’t type. It’s brand new. Pls help
hi, i wanna ask you something i have the new dell latitude 5420 i5 11generation when i turne off the laptop the screen turn black but the bottom of (off\on) stay illuminated and i hear the noise of the ventilation, but after that when i press the Botton (off) and keep holding it for 10 second just in this case every thing gonna turn of, is that a problem ?
Looks like it's Windows 10 software have you updated to the latest update or review Event Viewer? You might wanna think about reimagining the computer.
I have this laptop but it is a pack, I also have a 5300, but it is 3 times better, weighs less and consumes much less. All this is due to the 28Watt processor, (Intel i7-1165G7) against the other i7 U which is 15w. Honestly, the idea of putting on a 28watt processor is not a good one. if we look instead the 5410 has intel U processors. Screen FHD 1920x1080, touch, honestly for a size of 14 "is more than enough.
Where is the CMOS on this thing?
It next to the second SATA bay its cover you can see the cable sticking out of the plastic.
This device will not run Linux.
I didn't see any drivers associated on Dell web site, you could if you can get the drivers to work in fact people have been using this as a hacktosh using this model look it up on UA-cam
Thank you so much for review.I’m gonna buy but I can’t fine a review video thank you 🙏 fan from Thailand.
