Oh my god, his sensitivity and artistry. The beauty is too much. I can’t stop crying. We have lost one of the greatest artist-activists of my lifetime. 💔😭
One day they will ask who was this gorgeous, talented , versatile, intelligent, interesting man ?
And the answer will be : A giant of the twentieth century.
May you rest in peace sweet beautiful soul.
The greatest. Such a magnificent artist and human being. Fell in love with him when I was 13. Bless him forevermore.
So proud of a Jamaican American.
Happy 95th birthday Harry. March 1/22.
Many more.
Harry BELAFONTE ... le plus bel homme du monde .... et encore maintenant à 95 ans ...
The man oozed talent, artistry, sensitivity, and soul from every pore. He was simply phenomenal. Oh, and he was the most beautiful, graceful man I've ever laid eyes on. It all came together in this one individual.
True, and incredible❤
The greatest performer of all time. A riveting, happy presence in the lives of my parents, myself and my husband, and our children. Right, now future generations will be able to discover him.
Harry Belafonte had such a wonderful voice and his songs were so beautiful...and some so much fun. He was also one handsome guy!
Happy 95th birthday Harry.

Unsurpassed in talent and showmanship
This man has been entertaining me since 1954.
Now with the plethora of videos his marvellous talents will be perpetuated for generations to come.
Heard on German Radio, Harry Belafonte . I was there for five years. I love Harry Belafonte and the Songs. 😊
Truly , “Songs From Many Lands “
Some for the first time.
Un artista tocado por Dios. Su música es sublime y su legado como filántropo nos iluminará por siempre.
Belafonte, Bennet, Poitier ,the last of an era.
Never to replaced.
A living legend.
Talent ,personality, charisma.
In 1959 his voice was at its utmost best,
Immer wieder ein Erlebnis...

Just finished his autobiography and wanted to see his art. More impressed wiith his dedication. He was right very few have tried to attempt folk singing at this level again.
Ah Tyrone Skinner Sir , you are so right. NOBODY performed folk music like Harry Belafonte, NOBODY.And NOBODY ever will.
SPECTACULAR
Correction:

Happy birthday Harry !!!!
Harry Belafonte - the King of Calypso wonderful and a great Star!!
Unrivalled talent
Big love ❤❤❤
What a treasure!
The man could sing anything !!!
Maravilloso Harry!!!
This is wonderful to hear. I saw this show on Christmas day 1959 and my father taped the sound. I was five. The Partisan's Song had an enormous effect and I have been trying to find Belafonte's version for years!
Very much different from many of his concerts.
Not the familiar format.
Throughout his career he recorded over five hundred and thirty five melodies.- a vast number to choose from and in this program he chose very wisely..
Refreshing !
Superb !!!
So great a singer !
Such talent !!!!
An amazing repertoire.
Old time artist believe music was in their soul.
Superb!!!!!!!
A walk down memory lane for “The Gatekeepers “.
A new exciting exposure and and experience for those who do not know Harry Belafonte’s fabulous body of work.Thank you again Menno for all that you are doing to keep the music alive .
And G-d bless Harry Belafonte now ninety- three years old .
Belafonte ‘s rendition of The Partisan Song is simply magnificent.
Never heard him sing it before or after nor recorded.
Same here, Paul!
Many thanks for posting, MENNO,👍😊🍀🌹❤️ youth is coming back❤️😊🍀
Superb!!!!
A walk down memory lane for “The Gatekeepers “.
A new ,exciting exposure and experience for those who do not know Harry Belafonte’s fabulous body of work .Thank you again Menno .
❤
“Wimewe “- What a magnificent version.
Equal to that of the late great Miriam Makeba.
Claudia Bothier my dear ,he didn’t kill himself.
He is alive and well in New York City. He’s going to be 95 on March 1.Wish him a happy birthday.
Claudia , please wish him a happy 95th birthday.
Just genius!
Oddly enough he dropped “Scarlet Ribbons “ from his repertoire shortly thereafter.
Just disappeared.
Menno, a lot disappeared from his concert repertoire and a lot that should have been included never made it.Much thanks again .
A lot of this ended up in “Return To Carnegie Hall “ a year later.
Hi Menno...in description it states BCC (ok up in the title however). I was listening to my mom's EPs and LPs but some of the songs are new to me, Lucy's Door for example.
Yes, some of the songs here he never recorded in the studio.
Harry. Belafonte please sing. Viejo San Juan old San Juan please sir I am pueroricaaan
A wonderful document, thank you
There's only one way to describe this man......'DAY---Ohhhhhhh!! '
Fantastic performance by a marvellous artist. But the song after Shenandoah is "Chickens" not "A Little Lyric of Great Importance", and the song "Awimawe" is the well known "Wimoweh".
I love Harry but in my opinion, the song "Old King Cole" hurt his voice which later began to show up in later years. But I always was and will always be a huge HARRY BELAFONTE fan. I love these videos and give many thanks to Menno Dreischor !!! FANTASTIC CHANNEL !!!
Did not hurt his voice in the least .He could sing anything and he did sensationally for many years.
❤️
Gina Kay :
He had polyps not “Old King Cole “.
Irish which means good
Bibiana Reyes , will you be singing at 94 ?
The exception to every rule is Tony Bennett, 95, but he’s like a robot .
He no longer sings.
Hasn’t in years.
@@paulgleitman7096 How many?
???😒
La Bamba - Yes and again - the best Version of this Song :)
Tu estabas ahogando Tu estabas ahogando
Yo te salve domimando Las olas
Domimando las olas por tu querer
pero y'arriba y'arriba per o'arriba y'arriba,
y'arriba ire yo no soy mari nero
Yo no soy Mari re porti sere
Beautiful, sentimental, and so sad, since I was too troubled to really be young. Plan to be a late bloomer!
Was Harry Belafonte a harmonious and happy man? One would think so, but appearances may deceive. Cf clowns or Robin Williams. Although with him, I did think he might be depressed under that extreme humour-creating activity.
Ridiculous comment Claudia .
This man is a giant amongst men.
@@paulgleitman7096 You're obviously not. How rude.
He killed himself, and was quite hypomanic.
@@paulgleitman7096 She was talking about Robin Williams in that last statement, was not sure about Harry as she stated. Of course maybe you want to edit or send an apology 💗...
@@Medietos Surprised at the comment from an obviously long-time fan of Harry😗I think he misunderstood you. Have you read the biography? I have heard Harry's music since a child and first met him way back in 1964 ! Best to you, dear💐
@@lindaregelean8015 Hello, how intriguing; how do you mean that Harry might have misunderstood me? your comment is a mystery, - or am I thick to not get you? I haven't read "the" biography, is there only one? I'll seek it and read.
행복합니다.
Does he still sing today at 94?
No, he retired from performing in 2003 at age 76.
@@harrybelafontetvvideoarchive Thanks for replying.
No he does not still sing .
If you knew anything about him you wouldn’t ask such a stupid question.
@@paulgleitman7096 Why do you berate these people who comment? It was a surprise when I have come across these when you are so loving in your praise of Harry...be kind please 🥺🌻🧡
Be kind in the manner of bellanfanti or belanfonte anyone yu wah call im
