My man, you quickly got to the point with real world examples, i greatly appreciate that. Your opinion after the real world review was the icing on the cake. Thanks
Appreciate the review! I came here for the audio comparison, but the mention of losing your waterproof-ness was something I hadn't thought about, and enough for me not to need it.
Glad my video could help you make a decision! I partially made it the video because I myself wasn’t using it very often and thought it’d be a good contrast to the (very often) super positive reviews that go up when a new product is launched. Hope you’re able to allocate that money to something which will be better at helping you upgrade your creativity toolset.
Yeah 100% should’ve tried enabling that option in hindsight but didn’t think about it on the day. Next time! At least people can know it’s an option thanks to helpful commenters like you and others dropping good tips. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! My results are same, mediamod mic is poor compared to onboard. The mediamod can also allow switching between front and rear, not sure which you were using.
Yup. I try not to use my GoPro too much when I really need the audio anyways so it wasn’t too important to me but for people who vlog with a GoPro or film a lot of stuff where they need the sound, the media mod could definitely save the day in windy conditions.
Yeah! Hopefully we’ll get an entire camera redesign with the HERO 13 next year that also takes into account a lot of of people using the media mod and figures out how to be waterproof and maintain access to the battery/SD while giving people the ports/mic/cold shoe mounts.
I love the media mod because the mic is really good and you can make it record the front and back at same time. If you turn off wind reduction it sounds especially good!
Man what a great video! I just got a motorcycle and while I'm not a content creator I did want to post videos and this really helped determine if I should get it or not
your sound was imfinatly better with media mod the std 11 sound is always wind noise im at the end of my tether trying to get sound on my motorbike thats waterproof using gp 11
Ooh that’s a tough one. Honestly, your best bet might be trying to get a headset that’s made for motorcycles and record the audio separately so you can sync them in post (if you’re really serious about it). Otherwise I’d look at the DJI Action 3 and Wireless mic setup.
Yeah! I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much better it sounded especially when the wind picked up. Definitely worth it I think if you plan on recording yourself talking with a GoPro in situations where you don’t need the waterproofing.
I don’t know that’s up to you. It will be able to connect to the DJI Mic 2 if you got the RX unit as well as the mic(s). Only downside obviously is losing the waterproofing of the GoPro but there isn’t really another good way to connect a mic like that to the HERO 10.
I guess technically maybe a little bit (cause a little extra plastic can’t hurt, right?). But given that the Media Mod is itself not at all durable and also requires access to the GoPro battery port (meaning the GoPro is also no longer waterproof) my answer would be no.
Ya know, I never tested that. I imagine it would be better than the standard, but there’s only so much it can do. In a situation like that maybe try a Bluetooth headset for audio (if you have the 12) or otherwise maybe a wired lav mic?
Will this mod be good for those motorbike vloggers? Cos of all the wind noise etc and they cant mount a smart phone on their helmet. They can also connect another mic to the gopro.
Pretty sure a lot of motorbike vloggers use this for their GoPro. However the two downsides is that it increases over bulk and gets rid of the waterproof-ness of the GoPro. As a result I’ve also seen a lot of motorbike vloggers get the Action 4 from DJI plus the new wireless Mic 2. The wireless mic connects directly to the camera so no extra add on needed and can be worn in the helmet of the rider.
Wait, did I hear you right that a cell phone will have better video than a gopro 11? Uh... the sensor is bigger in gopro, plus all the other video features.
It's the ONLY way to get timecode in and out of the gopro for use with the other gear; which is super disappointing as far as gopros go as gear. I always thought of that as basic video camera functionality nowadays :/
Glad it helped! Love to hear from people on the otherside of the world. Reminds me how amazing the internet can be at bringing people who share interests together. Much love and hope you have a great day man!
No it is not worth it. The moment it change to GOPRO built in Audio his voice sound calmer and nicer in the beginning. He is just editing it worst for built in his own voice so you people will end up buying Media Mod.
I mean for the price there are worse options. Really depends on your expectations though. No adjustable focus means that for vlogging you won’t get the nice background that blurs behind you but some people don’t care about that.
You are 100% on the money with this comment. Totally forget to switch to the rear mic when I was talking behind the camera so I think that the audio quality for talking behind the GoPro with the Media Mod should actually be a little better.

I agree 💯
thanks for skipping all the usual intro bs people do on youtube. Straight to the point!
WOW! Great demonstration of how much better the audio is with the media mod and, as skeptical you are, I’m thrilled to buy it.

I think there is an option to use Mic at the back if you are talking from behind the camera but not 100% sure.
Yeah 100% should’ve tried enabling that option in hindsight but didn’t think about it on the day. Next time! At least people can know it’s an option thanks to helpful commenters like you and others dropping good tips. Thanks for watching!
Seems good. Definitely noticing that the windscreen is working for the wind.
That little bit of foam really does a great job cutting the wind.
I lost that foam, is it available
Thank you! My results are same, mediamod mic is poor compared to onboard. The mediamod can also allow switching between front and rear, not sure which you were using.
But the media mod sounded quite a bit better. No wind and crisper speech.
It sounded better with the Media Mod, but you made a good to point to use your phone in those instances! Thank you for your help!
seems like built in audio is great but if its windy thats where it'll save you
Yup. I try not to use my GoPro too much when I really need the audio anyways so it wasn’t too important to me but for people who vlog with a GoPro or film a lot of stuff where they need the sound, the media mod could definitely save the day in windy conditions.
Thanks for getting to the point man... much appreciated. For what I want to do indoors, I think it would be a good fit.
I hope GoPro sees this. The inconvenience of getting to the battery or SD card is a major design flaw. Please GoPro fix this
Yeah! Hopefully we’ll get an entire camera redesign with the HERO 13 next year that also takes into account a lot of of people using the media mod and figures out how to be waterproof and maintain access to the battery/SD while giving people the ports/mic/cold shoe mounts.
@@DigitalTechReviewsTips I couldn’t agree more!
I love the media mod because the mic is really good and you can make it record the front and back at same time. If you turn off wind reduction it sounds especially good!
Yup! Definitely should’ve tested out those two settings in this video cause they are super helpful.
The media mod made a really noticable difference with the audio.
Man what a great video! I just got a motorcycle and while I'm not a content creator I did want to post videos and this really helped determine if I should get it or not
Great video short and to the point !

It sounds better to me 9/10, but Not for the price theyre asking.
Media mod sound better for me. No wind No noise.
Yeah! I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much better it sounded especially when the wind picked up. Definitely worth it I think if you plan on recording yourself talking with a GoPro in situations where you don’t need the waterproofing.
Great review. Thanks!
I bought one and did a mic test with it in high winds,, it’s really good considering this is an action camera and not a cinema filming beast’
Very helpful, thanks.
Can you charge the go pro while using the media mod?
Yes though it does relocate the charge port to the back of the camera next to the additional HDMI and 3.5mm audio jack
Seems like a big difference, for the price it seems worth it.
audio sounds the same just the muffler helps with wind (free hint put some cloth over the mic & a rubber band, works just as well generally.
Media mod sounds much better. Will this hook up to a hero 5?
I don’t think. The media mods go back to the hero 8
I just bought the media mod today for my gopro 10 to be able to connect the dji mic 2. Should I return the media mod?
I don’t know that’s up to you. It will be able to connect to the DJI Mic 2 if you got the RX unit as well as the mic(s). Only downside obviously is losing the waterproofing of the GoPro but there isn’t really another good way to connect a mic like that to the HERO 10.
Does media mod case protect the Gopro camera?
I guess technically maybe a little bit (cause a little extra plastic can’t hurt, right?). But given that the Media Mod is itself not at all durable and also requires access to the GoPro battery port (meaning the GoPro is also no longer waterproof) my answer would be no.
Is this compatible with the Hero 8?
How does it sound on a chest mount when riding a motorcycle into the wind.
Ya know, I never tested that. I imagine it would be better than the standard, but there’s only so much it can do. In a situation like that maybe try a Bluetooth headset for audio (if you have the 12) or otherwise maybe a wired lav mic?

@@DigitalTechReviewsTips oh cool will check that out! Thanks for the tip ❤️🫡
my media mod is capturing too much distortion
Thank you.🙏

Beware: the foam wind muffler on the mic is easily lost and you cannot get a replacement. This has a huge negative effect on the sound quality.
Media Mod is the way to GO! I have my 12 attached to it, GAME CHANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you lose the dead cat gopro can not replace it
Thx bro love from Punjab india

Imagine having to buy expensive stash in order to use an external microphone. Shame on you, gopro.
Media mod or mic adaptor which is better ?
No it is not worth it. The moment it change to GOPRO built in Audio his voice sound calmer and nicer in the beginning. He is just editing it worst for built in his own voice so you people will end up buying Media Mod.
Why would he care if people buy the media mod? He doesn't work on commission so what are you talking about
YOU ROCK
call me crazy, but the build-in sound better to me lol
Bro don't have iphone I've android phone with poor quality cam and budget is also low I should buy this cam or not for vlogging

@@DigitalTechReviewsTips I appreciate it ♥️
Are you switching to the rear mic on the media mod? Or still talking to the front mic from behind the camera?
You are 100% on the money with this comment. Totally forget to switch to the rear mic when I was talking behind the camera so I think that the audio quality for talking behind the GoPro with the Media Mod should actually be a little better.
@@DigitalTechReviewsTipshow do you switch to rear camera??
@@2WheelTherapy7there’s an option to switch it in either the mode settings or if you put it as a shortcut
W video
Media Mod Has a deadcat (sponge) but GoPro Has not. Stupid comparison. Normalny three is no big different😊
Who else closed there eyes while looking for a difference
😂 I totally know what you mean
Sound no different.
