This is something of the great things P3 has that neither P4 nor P5 did. Those have few chances of getting reverse arcana and none of it getting it broken and at P5 you don't even have that posibility for even reverse one.

Social link only give more exp with some personas and unlock one. But you can go without them or unlock them in other playthroughts
also the "Great, Good, Thired and Sick" conditions, it makes you feel like they have limits (like humans do) and I still reached level 90 with enough time for the last social links

It's called bad design (just like how almost all Social Links were restricted to daytime in the original release) and they themselves realized it since it was entirely cut in Persona 4. And I may also add that the development period for both Persona 3 and Persona 4 was roughly the same, 2 years (Persona 3 began development in 2004 and released in 2006, Persona 4 began development in 2006 and released in 2008).
The toaster is my favorite character out of all of them, to be honest. They have amazing character design and put so much development into her kind of personality.
So long as there's no "forced dating" like in P3. I rather it happened because you chose it by your own stones or because you were being an ass in a social link (like the two Social Links who could get reversed through choices in Persona 4).

It's not even maxing out, at some point you're already dating and they get jealous if you see someone else. You have to do one by one and max them out, once they are maxed , they can't break.

I'm just trying to get the most out of my time before becoming a door with social link leveling and then out of nowhere someone I appreciated in July is my nightmare in December. breaking up with fuuka or mitsuru was probably the biggest oof. no fuuka means no battle support and mitsuru could easily ruin your life with her connections

It's not gone, you can still reverse, or circumvent it altogether and remain platonic, which was introduced in P4.
