Cross-Border Kantele: Ingermanland folk song "I love you with all my heart" (Sua sytämestäni rakastan), performed by Irina Popova, Honored Musician of the Republic of Karelia, and Anastasia Krasilnikova, International Music Contest Awardee. Musical adaptation by Vyacheslav Ivanov. This recording was made in Ilomantsi (Finland), on 12 October 2019.
This joint Finnish-Russian kantele concert was organized by the Kantele Goes Global project. Our project seeks to promote cross-border cooperation between Finnish, Russian and Karelian kantele players. We also seek to promote internationalization and popularization of kantele music worldwide by means of intercultural synthesis. We play Finnish, Russian and Karelian folk music, as well as contemporary compositions. We also try to introduce kantele into foreign cultures (North America and Far East) by using kantele as accompaniment for traditional cultural performances (i.e. dance) in recipient countries.
