My daily driver is a 77 Lincoln Mark V, nothing touches the luxury of a big 70's Lincoln. The leather bench seat is like a nice couch and it rides super smooth, I always tell people its like riding Grandma's porch swing.
I've had 2 1977 Mark Vs and a 77 Town Car. Something about that year. I still snoop around the classic car sites for one with a 460 that's priced right and in good condition. Finding both is a rare and expensive gem. Living rooms on wheels. :)
@@robintexas91 mine found me, I always wanted a big car, was looking for a 77 grand marquis but a neighbor put his mark V up for sale and it sat for 4 years before I decided to make an offer and I got it dirt cheap. As a long time Ford and Lincoln lover, I was really bummed when they finally scrapped the Town Car, and did not replace it with another RWD V8 powered successor. I did enjoy this video though.
Really enjoyed this...Starting with my Dad we had a 1984 Continental, 1990 Town Car, 1992 Continental, 2000 Town Car, 2002 Continental. Dad has passed but his legacy brought me to my 2022 Corsair. I love it. Lincoln has taken its lumps but the current line up...though cross-over and SUV dominated, is world class. Now...if we can just get a sedan back I'll be in line. Great video.
Id love to have an early 60s coupe. These are my favorite cars ever produced. I used to think of Lincolns as old people cars, but they're timeless and quality machines, mostly
I have a 1979 Continental Town Car. It may be big and bloated, but it really drives well and is the most comfortable car I have. I had a great 1985 Mark 7 that was terrific also.
It sounds like a fun car to drive, too. Your ‘79 Continental Town Car may be, in your own words, “big and bloated”, but it could save your life: when I owned my 1990 Town Car, people would sometimes rag on me about why I had such a big ‘gas guzzler’ and I would tell them it was because I’d rather be broke than dead, lol. Nobody could argue with that.
I think that you should have mentioned the 2002 Lincoln Continental CE. My dad bought the last one that was on the showroom floor of the Lincoln dealer where he got his other car serviced. It has the 32 valve V-8, albeit front wheel drive, it was a beautiful car, black and had every option, including the air ride suspension that really felt like you were riding on air. My sister ended up with it. Who traded it because it had one bad cylinder and didn’t want to put the money out. But when the service manager saw the car, he got it. I later learned what the “CE” stood for, “Collector Edition,” and it sure lived up to that.
Thumbs up to that! My first Lincoln was a 1990 Towncar Executive, and as soon as I’d sold it after 10 years to a guy who could restore it, I knew I had to have another one someday; in 2021 I found a beautiful, 1995 Towncar Signature Series: somebody made sure it was under cover and well-cared for. It’s a dream to drive-and those brakes-the best stopping power of any car I’ve ever driven!
@@pg5149 No it wasn't, but a lot of people mistake it for a Lincoln and it didn't last long as they cost too much to build, hence why they included it in this video.

The back suicide doors have always that luxury feeling. And if you have automatic locking system preventing accidental opening, those are safe too. Here in Finland we usually call them hijack doors.
I have had every “Mark” series and they were all great cars. I now currently have the Lincoln LS. I bought it just to have it ….. it is a very handsome yet understated design, and I LOVE to drive it! Much more sportier than my previous Lincoln’s, and yes, it is a shame that Lincoln allowed this car to die away. Oh, well, I’ll keep this one For a long long time! :-)
My Dad was a huge Cadillac man all his life. He was given a Lincoln Continental as a loaner…. And that week He went in and bought the 1990 Lincoln and gave up on Caddy. The 1971 Lincoln Mark III, was a luxurious car, that my stepdad bought; trading in his 1970 Buick Electra 225, which was a beautiful car. However, the upgrade to the Lincoln Mark III, was such a smooth riding car and the leather seats were extremely comfortable, enhancing the performance.
The Mark IV and the Mark V pale in comparison to the Mark III and definitely the Mark II. Knowing from personal experience, both of those cars are of much poorer build quality also sad to say, but beautiful in their own right.
Those oval "opera" windows and the designer glitz are pretty cringe. The Mark III is a clean-looking car, and as a previous commenter has already said, the Mark II even moreso.
I remember seeing younger buyers than typical for Lincoln owning Mark IV & Mark VII models. Very classy rides and the Mark VII performance version had impressive power & handling for an American luxury car in its day.
@@redjupiter2 I get some of the interior materials were better in the III vs the IV and V, but the IV and V were also built well. The video was good but completely overlooked the bed all around Lincoln’s, the road race Lincoln’s of the early 50’s (52,53,54) the winner of the pan American road races and one of the best in most Lincoln fans opinions
The 1956 Lincoln is my favorite., for me that is the best design year. The other I like best is the Continental, I saw a couple of those when I was a kid.
First was Cadillac. He sold it to General Motors and made a deal with them to stay on to manage the division. Overtime, he fell out with GM management and they sent him on his way. As a revenge against GM, he used the plans that he built Cadillac on to form Lincoln and then sold it to Ford. Overall, GM succeeded with Cadillac, although there were some hiccups along the way. I don’t think Ford had the money to put into Lincoln to compete properly as they didn’t have the coffers of cash that GM did. Lincoln did have some successes though, but mostly due to Cadillacs bad decisions to change things that worked.
In my opinion the 84 to 92 mark vii was much better looking than the later mark viiis. I have a 1985 mark vii silver with red interior and only 32000 miles.
Had a 74 MK1V(signature)Charcoal Gray,put real chrome spoke wheels on it(Michelin tires,of course)four disc brakes and had a mobile phone(push button,in the mid-seventies)through AT&T. Was not worth a damn on ice & snow,still the nicest car I’ve owned.🀄️

I've always said the LS should have came with an updated version 4.6 from the Mark VIII. That engine in that car would killed anything with the NorthStar in it.
From the very birth on Lincoln automobiles it was destined to be an exceptional design and distinction as the President that carries the same name of Truth-and exceptional brilliance. If we can all agree that these Lincoln automobiles reached the epitome of design style comfort and distinction. How could we have abandoned so many positives for the discusting junk that clutter our roadways and junk yards. We have all failed to recognize that once you start a downward spiral there is no recovery and must accept the doom and gloom in all manufactured goods.
This video did a very good job covering the Lincoln line. I feel that you left one model out. I have a 2015 Lincoln MKS with a normally aspirated 3.7 six cylinder engine. The vehicle was purchased new and is in perfect condition. I would not trade this vehicle for anything Ford produces today. It seems Ford has lost their way and may go the route of Stellantis Motor Company.
Photos are a problem, as others have noted. I'd also state that the Zephyr's 6-year run was hardly "long term success", the nameplate disappeared after the 1941 model year. The V-12 was not really powerful (at 110hp) or particularly efficient, but it WAS very smooth. The Mark II was a lovely thing and beautifully crafted, but my Ford connection (my uncle who was a Ford dealer durng that era) swore the factory guys admitted they lost over $4000/car (equivalent to over $46,000 today). Interestingly, when the divison closed, the headquarters was re-purposed as the main offices for Edsel! The '61-65 Continentals are still among the cleanest, most elegant modern American design, but the cars were HEAVY, weighing 400-800 pounds more than equivalent Cadillacs. This meant both economy and performance suffered by comparison, although "economy" was not much of a factor in this class of American car, in the day of $0.30/gallon premium fuel. The Mark III was a handsome thing and decently made, but just another saggy barge to drive. Still looks good, though. The later Marks were bloody awful, except for the Mark VII (the Hot Rod Lincoln of song), which was quite decent in LSC form. Lincoln would be much better-off had they merely kept developing the Town Car; none of its purported successors have been as good or as popular. Mark VIII - Didn't look much like a Lincoln, and drove better than expected; but it didn't sell. LS - A DIFFERENT Lincoln, but the cars had some problems (overheating inparticular) and the were tightly packcaged, making them hard to service and repair. the real problem was that traditional Lincoln buyers didn't want them and premium imoort buyers didn't even consider them.
The Mark III was based on the 1967 Thunderbird, not the 1958 model pictured. The Mark III WAS known for some innovation. The power steering pump was driven directly by the crankshaft and it's build quality was unexcelled in Detroit. The Mark VIII dashboard pictured is not "wood trim free".
The greatest Lincolns ever made were the Mark III, Mark IV, and Mark V. I used to own a 1978 Mark V. Medium metallic blue with a white landau roof and white interior. It was not a special edition.

The vehicle was purchased new and is in perfect condition. I would not trade this vehicle for anything Ford produces today. It seems Ford has lost their way and may go the route of Stellantis Motor Company.
What exactly is covered under mechanicals?
I had a town car and in LSC The LLC was a honey Black red leather guts it was just so pretty it was unbelievable
No Mark vi 😭😭 that's the one of the best !
Style wise, I think you could add the 2014-2020 MKZ. Hybrid and 3.0 units
I was looking for a story on the blackwood.
what happened to the original Continental of 1940 which to me is the greatest Lincoln of all time 🤔
At 1:29: Lincoln Zephyr and the California Zephyr ...
The greatest Lincolns ever made were the Mark III, Mark IV, and Mark V. I used to own a 1978 Mark V. Medium metallic blue with a white landau roof and white interior. It was not a special edition.
Mark 2 $9960 = $12000 de hoy....???? Estás loco!!!!
Además hay algunas imágenes que no concuerdan.
Give me the LAND YACHTS! My 78 Town Coupe was the ULTIMATE expression of LINCOLN, What a Luxury CAR should be. My current 2007 Town Car Signature Limited is the last gasp of TRADITIONAL American luxury sedans! I can't Navigate SUVS even the NAVIGATOR, 🤮 a glorified truck, masquerading as a luxury vehicle!
I told my dad if he ever drove a Lincoln he would never own another Cadillac. He did and he never bought another Cadillac. I had a MkVIII that I loved. I’m looking for a good LS but if you can find one it won’t be for sale.
The 61 continental shared headlight bezels with the bullet nose t birds! Fun fact.
EU CONSIDERO O LINCOLM CONTINENTAL MARK IV , O CARRO MAIS LINDO DO MUNDO ( MINHA OPINIÃO). É TANTO QUE , SE EU PUDESSE , TERIA UM NA MINHA GARAGEM...BRUNO 🇧🇷
"It's arched, wood trim free dashboard..." 10:45 WHILE SHOWING A DASH COVERED IN WOOD TRIM.
El Zephir del 36 y el Continental del 61 : LOS MEJORES !!!
The thumbnail is a very odd rendition of the Lincoln. Too many sharp corners and the rear window appears to have a wing- vent.
i am excited today to say that the new Lincoln navigator has lots to talk about
1955 Lincoln Capri winner of the Baja 500 Baja California, Mexico.
90 Lincoln LSC best of best
Lindos
I'm just mad the 4th gen town car wasn't good enough for the video. So it doesn't ride quite as good as the 94 but it does have more power and better window regulators.
1993 super charged mark 8
