This is THE toughest grappling martial art of them all and I would never want to fight with anyone who dose this and that comes from a muay thai practitioner. I have much respect for sambo.
I feel like it would go Sambo, wrestling and BJJ in terms of rank for toughness/grind in regards to grappling.

I have a competition in ten days and I’ve only trained BJJ (gi and nogi) but I feel like it can be enough

I want to learn it so bad, but there are no clubs that are close to me.
It's not the same thing, but if you want to get as close to it as possible i suggest doing judo and maybe kickboxing. You would get something extremely similar

Judo, Kickboxing and Wrestling (imo the Most effective combination is: Boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, Wrestling and individual techniques from other Combat Sports which suits you, because combat sport is always individual)
seems like a great martial art in my opinion, aggresive, contains takedown and grappling, basically like MMA, seems like a bit different takedown here resemble Judo more than BJJ

Хороший вид спорта, но тяжелый. Иногда кажется, что 10 лет занятий самбо в школе, и в институте в 70-х-80-х, заменили мне 2 года службы в СА. :)
Потом перешел на парусный спорт, который после самбо мне спортом уже не казался. :)
И интересно, кто-нить сейчас помнит Наталью ГЕРЦАНС и Ларису ЧУЕВу? Они были в 80-х совсем маленькими девочками, когда выходил на ковер за Буревестник против Динамо и Урожая.

I don't really get it. Sometimes they're throwing punches and then in others it looks like they're just hand fighting like it's exclusively grappling.
Anyone wanna clear that up for me?
Sambo is more or less Judo+wrestling, Combat Sambo has punches
