Fix the roads! Where did the money go over the years?

- Made this short video coming back from Kharkiv and Sumy delivering aid. Many of the secondary roads that still carry important cargo including farmers grain and produce and supplies for the effort, border on comical. There are many roads and sections of road that are simply a connection of potholes of varying sizes.
This video is not aimed at denigrating Ukraine, it is frustration that a country trying to fight an already difficult war, has to put up with this terrible infrastructure. Many of these issues are not war related either, it is simply deterioration over time with minimal servicing. Begs the question, where did the money go?
These need to be fixed. Some poor villages live with these roads day in and day out and farmers trying to make a living have to use them to export their product etc. Needs to be addressed from the top down.

That's how Romanian roads used to be 20 years ago 😅.
Yes I keep telling my friends in Ukraine, that our roads in Romania have improved a long way. I also keep telling my Romanian friends, please don't complain about the roads here, they are very good. Our problem in Romania is many main roads are still one lane in each direction, but at least there are so many Auto Strada being built which will fix the problem. Thanks for comment. Sanatate!
@@BitsofEurope Yes, it is also the autostrada A7 which will cross Moldova to the border with Ukraine, let's hope that the construction deadlines are respected, in 2026 you should be able to get from Bucharest to Siret on autostrada
@@BitsofEurope And the problem with the main roads having 1 lane per direction is due to the communist regime because not everyone had a car and the traffic was low so there was no need for wider roads.Another problem is that the main roads pass through the towns instead of bypassing them. Since the fall of communism 35 years ago, the construction of new roads has increased only in the last 10 years
@@denisrwoo Makes sense. I notice a lot of bypass roads now like Bacău and Suceava. Roads in Romania are great compared to some of our neighbours.

Just don’t go around potholes. Full speed 100 km/h and you will fly over them. Sometimes quite literally 😂

Yes we do most of the time!! That's very good 4x4 advice I tell others, fly over them at 100kmh or more and you glide over holes and trust your suspension, go too slow and you ride through each hole and feel it. However, 😅....some of these were moon craters not holes, some of these you hit at speed and your wheel is ripped off 😁. But yeh, generally what you say is true. Been back again since this video but was too busy to film. Next trip in a few weeks I will start getting more content and get back into making regular posts. Ty for comment 👍
