  • Friends,
    The Railway Catenary system is a part of railway electrification. Railway overhead equipment is a big part. Today in this video, I am trying to explain OHE Equipment components and their function.
    At the end of this lesson, you will learn the basics of the railway catenary system | Section Insulator(SI) | Auto Tension Devise.
    Friends, Railway catenary System is a large part and it is impossible to cover it within 3 minutes but I try it. If there is any mistake please share your comment for all.

    I'm highly blessed to be posted in Palanpur on 1st August 2019 for DFCCIL project. That was the time I didn't know abcd of traction. Three days back we trial our 1st electric loco and it was successful without a single spark or failure. I learnt from zero to almost everything about OHE, General services and PSI. I'm really lucky

    The Metra Electric here in Chicago South Suburbs runs on a 1,500-volt power system to University Park Illinois. Also, the South Shore Line between Chicago and South Bend Indiana uses the same voltage to share the same voltage between the two railroad systems.

      I think there talking in a not so clear way about volts * amps = watts, so a higher voltage can transfer the same wattage with less current.
      I.E, 1 000 watts can be 10 volts @ 100 amps or 100 volts @ 10 amps (or any other two numbers that sum to 1 000)

    Rail traction catenary systems are either 1500Vdc or 24Kvac.
    The choice of which one to use is down to the average line speed of the trains.
    Below 75km/hr average line speed, 1500Vdc should be used.
    Above 75km/hr, 24Kvac should be selected.

    • @Boss_Tanaka
      @Boss_Tanaka 3 роки тому +1

      I m sorry dude but it s absolutely not the case!!!
      The 1500V dc is an ancient technology obviously still used because it would cost a lot to replace it. It can stand speeds up to 200km/h though.
      25KV ac is a newer technology and it s the only one built today for new lines. So there is no choice for future projects : 25kv.
