- Friends,
The Railway Catenary system is a part of railway electrification. Railway overhead equipment is a big part. Today in this video, I am trying to explain OHE Equipment components and their function.
At the end of this lesson, you will learn the basics of the railway catenary system | Section Insulator(SI) | Auto Tension Devise.
Friends, Railway catenary System is a large part and it is impossible to cover it within 3 minutes but I try it. If there is any mistake please share your comment for all.

Two days ago, I with my team changed the contact wire of 1.5km length. 😎
Hiii sir
I need your help
How
But why was that 1.5km wire damaged
This video proved that this channel is India 🙏🙏
I'm highly blessed to be posted in Palanpur on 1st August 2019 for DFCCIL project. That was the time I didn't know abcd of traction. Three days back we trial our 1st electric loco and it was successful without a single spark or failure. I learnt from zero to almost everything about OHE, General services and PSI. I'm really lucky
OHE mast foundation work
Hello sir can u teach me traction
Thank you for this video sir... I joined 2-3 days ago as a engineer trainee and this video is very helpful for me🙏

Very nice video
Really awesome explanation.
The Metra Electric here in Chicago South Suburbs runs on a 1,500-volt power system to University Park Illinois. Also, the South Shore Line between Chicago and South Bend Indiana uses the same voltage to share the same voltage between the two railroad systems.
Sir, is their any demand for technician or engineers for OHE department in Chicago. Do you have any idea regarding it ?
redundant dept of redundancy... "electric trains powered by electricity"
My brother is Indian railway ❤️😎
Video is just awesome.....plz explain the working of every parts

ขอบคุณ มากครับ
Very informative to all train lover😍🤩🤩🤩
I didn't know the contact wire has a profile to allow attachment. Interesting. But when the contact wire has to be changed, the staff has to be careful to do the proper assembly.

Hello,
I can't understand why the rail 750V has... the circuit diagram shows that the rail is grounded (0V) and conected to the middle point of the trafo (also grounded).
Greeting from Argentina :)
Greetings
Good channel about Rail Information...💞
in my country this voltage is 1.5kVDC
Thanks for this video sir.but i may know one or two railway simulator ?
In india for OHE catenary system for electric train such as wap4 , wap7 and wap5 etc. And there is a one thing most powerful electric train such as wag12 and wag11
Отличное видео! Спасибо большое!
More videos pls , marvellous work 👍🙏
Im retd civil engr.I likee such videos
Which software are you using for this model making??
I guess
3d studio max
Or may be Maya
Amazing work sir !!
Please make video on power electronics devices in electric loco and there application .
It will be very kind of you sir . 🙂
Ok new line project information
Excellent explanation...
The advantage only presented here for AC over DC is it is economical. Maybe you should also consider the effect on the size of equipment, motors inside the train and electrical interference. But overall it is a good quality video.
Electrolysis issues with DC etc
👍
Which software you use for Text to Speech??
Yes I also want to know
Good information
Thank you so much ❤️♥️
Explain what types of material used for catenary and contact wire system
watch my video also for such topic in playlist ( traction )
Please tell me what is the name of the music that was played at the end of the video at 3:30
A pesar de no entender del todo el video por el idioma está muy interesante, se comprende por las animaciones por computador 🖥
¡Es verdad amigo, a picture is worth mil palabras!
Electric train use single phase?
He catch single phase but uses 3 phase through dc which is inbuilt in loco
@@milannaskar4538 thank you
Lets learn in old age too...
But surprising is how engines deal when or where no uphead supply available?
Exllnt
1:10 The higher voltage reduces the current flow through conductor, shouldn't it be opposite since current in a conductor is directly proportional to voltage across its terminals?
It s all about Power. P=U*I where I is current and U is voltage
For the same power, the more voltage you have the less current flow you need
I think there talking in a not so clear way about volts * amps = watts, so a higher voltage can transfer the same wattage with less current.
I.E, 1 000 watts can be 10 volts @ 100 amps or 100 volts @ 10 amps (or any other two numbers that sum to 1 000)
@@Boss_Tanaka Thanks
@@can_hauler Thanks
"Less current is needed" is not same as "reduces current flow".
It's a mistake. People who don't what he actually might have wanted to mean will learn the wrong thing.
Rail traction catenary systems are either 1500Vdc or 24Kvac.
The choice of which one to use is down to the average line speed of the trains.
Below 75km/hr average line speed, 1500Vdc should be used.
Above 75km/hr, 24Kvac should be selected.
I m sorry dude but it s absolutely not the case!!!
The 1500V dc is an ancient technology obviously still used because it would cost a lot to replace it. It can stand speeds up to 200km/h though.
25KV ac is a newer technology and it s the only one built today for new lines. So there is no choice for future projects : 25kv.
If 1500v is ancient tech, I guess our 650v DC is prehistoric ooze?? 😂
Good knowledge sir ji
Why the second wire above?
Good presentation.. What software did you use to make this presentation. Thank you
How is the Steady Tube connected to Contact Wire? Excellent video short and sweet!
They got the steady tube and registration arm mixed up.
Please upload how turbine produces electricity in power plants
An excellent video. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. ♡ T.E.N.
❤️
1.Why catnery wire is used as it is not providing any return path ?
2.Is it is used like 2 wire bundled conductor ?
3. Does current flows through dropper wire?
Отлично 👍
👍👍👍
I have a question and didnt get answer for it after watching this video, single phase 25kV line used here and neutral is grounded through wheel and railway track, now my question is what ever is the amount of current flowing from 25KV phase goes to neutral (ground), how the circuit is completed here, and what about the losses when the neutral is grounded? Please answer
Is overhead wire is open and if any bird will sit on it can get shock??
How many types Insulator are used in OCS or Railway Catenary system?
Please make a video tutorial
Thanks
If the contact point between thewire and the graphite stays the same, it will cause wear out sooner. what do suggest to overcome this problem?
Zig-zag the contact wire.
Thanks
Great introduction!
I need an OLE technical reference book for UK railway overhead systems, but can't find one. Anyone have any ideas please?
The video is a simple introduction. There are a lot of problem happen in the system. For example, aarcing in section, arcing in dropper, contact wire abnormal wearing.... You can ask some experience workman for more informations.
Good sir
"...used to counteract the expansion ans contraction of the wire due to climate change"
I guess no matter what happens with the climate in the future, this catenary system is ready!
Thank u
Good video. Good explanation. What I assume is a simulated narration voice is a bit annoying.
Civil engineers transportation liked this
