  • @jessejordache1869
    @jessejordache1869 22 дні тому +9

    He lost for two reasons: putting his rook on e1 created a psychological block for later putting it on d1, where it belonged; he's precocious so he sucks at endgames. You leave a lot of points on the table if you don't know endgames.
    Tell 'em, Dina. That is the Russian pedagogical way: endgames first, then middlegames, so if a chance to swap into a won game appears you don't miss it, and only then openings, so you know why you're doing what you're doing, since you've just been taught middlegames.
    Someday I'm going to open a chess school, and it's going to have three pictures: Karpov, a python, and the Cobra Kai instructor guy from the Karate Kid.

    • @МихаилБелячевский-е1р
      @МихаилБелячевский-е1р 20 днів тому +3

      That's right. When i played chess, endgame was my headache, i lost so much points and chances cause played it bad.

    • @jessejordache1869
      @jessejordache1869 18 днів тому +2

      @@МихаилБелячевский-е1р I still have trouble with one of the basic mates -- bishop and knight. It's because it comes up so infrequently -- but it DOES come up: always when you have a technically won position, like 2v0 pawns, and your opponent sacrifices one of their minor pieces for one of your pawns, and then the other for your last pawn.
      It's driving the king to the edge of the board that I keep forgetting how to do.
      But learning the bread and butter endgames: minor piece v minor piece with multiple pawns but one side has an iso, bishop v bishop, rook endgames and more rook endgames that are worth every minute speant memorizing them. It's like being the Yankees when they had Mariano Rivera: you get a slight lead in the late middlegame and you swap down to the endgame and bring out your unhittable closer.
      Okay, maybe not the best analogy :/
      Oh, also Botvinnik's quote "knight endgames are essentially pawn endgames" is a lot of knowledge in a short epigram.
