Mine wouldn't open any cans, but I figured out the issue. If you raise the handle, you will see the cutter, to the right of that is a guide that rides the top of the can. To the right of that guide, there is a metal tab that goes down to fit into a plastic slot or pocket. This plastic pocket was deformed and would not allow the metal tab to enter all the way. The handle would go down far enough to trigger the motor, but not far enough to cut the lid. I took a screwdriver and snapped the deformed piece of plastic off. Now it works great, but a consumer shouldn't have to do this.
I see now why you had the music playing in the background, LOL. When you start it it sounds like a chainsaw. It left my can lid all jagged and it’s going in the trash!
I tried to return mine to Walmart and it had been discontinued. I guess I bought the last one on the shelf. The clerk tried to find it in their system and was unable too. I did not have my receipt or box. If I go to another Walmart that has this product so they can bring the skew up, I could get my money back. The clerk said so many complaints that probably the reason it had been discontinued.
