I make soups and freeze them in potions for my husband and I. I haven't got to canning yet, but hope too soon.
Like so many, I started a garden in 2020, and have been learning how to preserve my garden and other groceries I buy fresh on sale when it’s in season. It’s such an empowering feeling.
It is and an incredible blessing to know exactly what's in our food.❤️
Thank you. Have my first garden and mill all my wheat ❤ you are so helpful
That’s wonderful! 🙌❤️

We grew up having an acre garden. DAD worked full time came home and was in the garden 1 hour between walking in the door and supper.5 nights a week. Unless it was raining.

Do beans need to be pressure canned?
I would like to can pinto beans, but I heard it requires pressure canner for safety.
I don’t have a budget for it yet.
Yes, beans need to be pressure canned. Before I had a pressure canner, I cooked then dehydrated them for "just add water beans." That might give you a way to have "quick" dried beans? We have a video on that here - ua-cam.com/video/C0o-NbLCIv8/v-deo.html
You can cook several meals worth of beans from dry quickly with a stove top or electric pressure cooker. The stove top models are fairly cheap even at the used stores here in Fairbanks Alaska. I find it easy to go from dry to cooked, without canning them.
Also storing dry beans takes up less space than canning the beans. I have canned pinto beans before. I have been canning for over 40 years and even though I have all the equipment, cooking a batch of beans to eat is my preferred method. If you have questions I would be glad to answer them.
I just subscribed to last week and was so happy to watch this video. We’re like minded. 😁
