Yes book binding tape works great! I like the idea of unsewn signatures while working in your book, when you have finished them, then you can bind all three together as it's own book, then refill the original...i hope this makes sense 🤔 Heather
I have watched several junk journal tutorials and yours is by far the easiest to try for this first time junk journaler....THANK YOU!! I am excited to try this form of memory keeping!! I am enjoying your channel!!
I’m doing this with my grown kids school work that i saved. I think it’s such a nice way to save a couple samples from their childhoods. Rather then a box of memories. I’m using larger book like old dictionaries encyclopedias so that it look nice of their shelves. They love the idea. 😍I did add an extra hole in the middle to make it more secure
I love this! I’m starting your watercolor workbook class and I’m going to make one of these for it! If the middle binding bit is too small or falls off and you need to replace with a new middle what would you do? Could I just cut a piece of cardboard to use as the center and duct tape it well to the front and back?
I’m not sure either! I think maybe Treasure Books but I watch SO many videos they all get lost in my brain. This is a concern I have too... giving credit. But on this particular binding, I’m not sure I’ve even seen a video. I’d start looking with Treasure Books, though. :)
That was awesome. Thanks so much for showing how to make one. Right now I'm using a chic Sparrow cover for mine but in the future I may make one of these book ones.
I’ve used elastic binding before, but ran the elastic lengths on the outside of the spine. I love ❤️ this technique to keep the elastic mostly at the Top of the outer spine. Especially nice when you have a pretty spine! Thank you!
No, sorry... I don't think also that I'm very good with them anyway... I'm sure there are some great tutorials on UA-cam from more experienced crop-a-dilers ;)
I love the of this spine outside! Thanks for showing us how to do this because I was curious about this when I was watching your December daily kick off video.
This was an awesome video Irit, I've never thought of doing this before, I laughed with you at not being accurate and measured, for work I sell I painstakingly control myself to measure otherwise I'm willynilly and totally roll like that, I think imperfections have so much beauty and show an artists personality. Love your vids I always laugh and feel like I'm having a chat and cafe with my art friends. Have a great Xmas from Canada girl xo Ps. The company's need to make more beautiful art supplies for artist because we Want them to be exclusive and pretty!! And I roared laughing when you said that in your last video and say it all the time hahaha clothes, who needs clothes, I want pretty art supplies hahaha
I love this! I'd love to try this. Sorry if I missed it in the video. But how exactly do you attach the paper? Are you just folding it in half and slipping threw the elastic?
instead of destroying a good book, why not use a cereal box and cover with cloth? you can make it custom size and custom fabric and use a cereal box instead of throwing in trash. pva glue works great for gluing cloth to woodboard or cardboard. ive made hardbound plain page journals using this method and for gluing pages into journal. these were more for drawing and jotting notes. i like the idea for a single signature quick notebook for when you are out and about and need to write something down.
We don't eat cereal and it wasn't a good book, it was an old falling apart book from the flea market that received new life and was sturdy without the need to use glue and fabric, so sometimes it's better to work with what one has on hand.
What was the thickness of your elastics you used Did you feel it was thick enough? Would you use something thinner or thicker if you were to do it over again? thx!
Sorry you feel this way! This is an old video so I had to go back and watch. It shows very clearly how and where I insert the elastic band. You can slow down the video if it's too fast. Hope that helps!
Really? Putting an elastic thread through 6 holes is sewing? Without a needle? I'm sorry you were mislead, no one else has commented that and this video has almost 9000 views. To me sewing means stitching the pages to the spine as many binding methods require, not inserting an elastic band through eyelets🤷♀️
@@waymakersfun-time3930 that is getting a bit technical...yes all sewing involves going through holes...with the FORCE OF YOUR NEEDLE...KNITTING IS NOT SEWING...no force involved...your mouth is a hole things go in and out of constantly...but no sewing is involved...and no force with a needle...unless you need to zip it up...your mouth...that is....as the saying goes.

Makes perfect sense! Thanks for the book binding info, may try it next 😀

I absolutely love this idea Heather! I've been wanting to try larger books, I think also for sketchbooks it would work so well!
I think I’m going to do their wedding albums the same way. I’m way behind 3 married 7 grandchildren. I better hurry up!!!!!
@@joericesgirl Haha that is a lot to catch up! How lovely!
I know 😩thanks for reminding me🤨😂😂 good thing I love doing this stuff 😍
@@joericesgirl have you caught up yet lol
“I can’t be bothered”. My new motto. Lol

Absolutely, exactly as you said! I've done that too with Little Golden books, really easy!
Awesome way to bind a junk journal. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks Marion! Glad you enjoyed!
Haven’t seen this style with elastic before. This is great!😍
Thanks Cindy! So glad you enjoyed!
I love this type of binding. I need to use it more. :) Thanks for the refresher!
Glad you enjoyed Dash! Have you seen this in another tutorial? I can't remember if and where I saw this... TIA!

My new go to for binding or securing anything is gaffer’s tape! Although, I have to say, that gold duct tape is pretty sweet!
Thanks! I will check that tape out, don't know it!
That was awesome. Thanks so much for showing how to make one. Right now I'm using a chic Sparrow cover for mine but in the future I may make one of these book ones.

This is so good! Thank you for sharing! I love travelers notebooks for the binding method. And how easily you can build your own journal or planner.

Thanks 😊 for this easy tutorial!!! Can’t wait to get started on one ASAP!!! 👏
What a great idea, I love how you ran the elastic, it looks so easy! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed Teresa!
Your tutorial was great, and I learned a lot. Thank you.
Great to hear!
Love it!! Can’t wait to make one for myself! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thanks JoJo!! I hope you'll share the finished product!
It looks so easy and perfect! Do you happen to have a tutorial on how you do the eyelets with the crop-a-dile nicely?
No, sorry... I don't think also that I'm very good with them anyway... I'm sure there are some great tutorials on UA-cam from more experienced crop-a-dilers ;)

You're welcome Pernilla!
Thank you your video is very detailed.

Did you start in the middle? Love the idea with the elastic
I did and thanks!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I look forward to trying this soon. 😀

I love this! I'd love to try this. Sorry if I missed it in the video. But how exactly do you attach the paper? Are you just folding it in half and slipping threw the elastic?
Thanks Amber! You just fold the papers in half and slide them under one of the elastics 😀
Love your style! Thanks so much for sharing 😊❤️
You are so welcome!
I love your videos irit. Your a great teacher
Thanks so much Shannon! You're so kind!
I'll definitely going to try this! Thank youuuuu
Can't wait to see 😀
I love this
THANK YOU !!! So Great a Video !
You are welcome!
Inspiring! Thank you!
yay!! thank you for sharing!!! 😍
You're welcome Haley!!
I did not see you insert the book block. How does it go in please?
Sorry, what is a book block? The signatures of paper are simply inserted underneath the elastics, hope that helps!
thanks for this tutorial on something new to me
You're welcome Chris! Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you so much!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Oh yea. Does that little case come with the cropodile? I havent seen anyone else with that. Neat
Yup it does! I need such cases, otherwise everything is a huge mess ;)

Not sure how think it was. I definitely wouldn't go thinner. A little thicker would work well, like the ones you get in most Traveler's Notebooks.
Elastics tends to lose its elasticity over time
How is yours ? Do you need to switch it out yet? Thx😊😃🍄🦔🦔🦔
Nope, not yet
Thankyou ! It helped me a lot ..
Glad it helped!
@@iritlandgraf 😊
Is there a tutorial for how to add the papers?
Not needed, simply cut to size and fold in the middle then insert😀
Thanks!
You're welcome!
What does the title of the book mean, bitte?
I can't read it in the video and I don't have the book near me, but it's some technical book with different machinery schematics
Where's the preparation for the paper for this method?
No paper preparation needed
Would have been helpful if you described what you were doing with the elastic. Very confusing.
Sorry you feel this way! This is an old video so I had to go back and watch. It shows very clearly how and where I insert the elastic band. You can slow down the video if it's too fast. Hope that helps!
Hi my name is noa and I love your Chanel may I ask where are you from and are you from israel by any chance
Hi Noa! Yes I am but I live in Europe now😀🇮🇱
Cool I thought so because of your accent I am from israel to and I leave in goa in india
Oh and nice to meet you hehe❤️❤️🥰
Hehe
Your title is misleading. Whether you use threads, or elastic this was sewing.

Yes it's sewing. Just as many crochet/knit without needles. Going in and out of a hole is a form of sewing.
