Again, this movie should have been longer, just like the disney version one. It would make better sense to get to know each other, plus more of an adventure. Believe me, it would've made the movie better.

Here the resumé can be 'don't be affaid by a (old) man you have to marry even you think he is a beast. You will dave your familly and one day you will love him'. The marriages were arranged. This version is to understand in the context of ancient Europe (and Snow White and Cinderella too).
but that would have not been accurate to the true french tale..? disney added all that romantic fuss, but the french original one - the one that this movie have been loyal to - is less romantic

Many people complain that they don't know when Belle "falls in love" with the Beast. The film is very subtle but makes it very clear... Belle feels a strange attraction to the Beast, but the one she falls in love with is the "Prince" through her dreams. Because it is there that she relives in the first person the feelings of love between the "Prince" and his wife. (Note: She is NOT the Reincarnation of her wife, that's why she needs the lights to help her live those dreams). For example: 1- She feels that the prince is going to kiss her / her wife... and when she opens her eyes with a start, who she is about to kiss her is the Beast. 2- She sees the Wife dancing with the prince... but suddenly it is SHE who dances with him... etc. That's why she wakes up in the morning smiling... Little by little in her subconscious she associates the prince with the beast. For example: Even after falling into the ice, and before visiting her father, she wakes up and "Flirts/Jokes" with the Beast. But until the last dream in her father's house, Bella does not have complete confirmation that the Prince and the Beast are the same person. That explains her "Desperation" to get back to him before he dies. And unlike the Disney ones, Bella isn't "surprised" when the spell is broken and he turns back into a human... she already knows it; Let's remember that when the Beast is going to finish off Perdukas after having wounded her, Beauty tells him: "... Remember that you were once human". And in the dance, when she goes into "trance" and rests her head on him chest... she is imagining that she dances with the prince because she even hears the applause of his court... Only when the Beast speaks and asks her "if she will be able to love him", this "trance" is broken and she is scared by that strange attraction that she feels; that's why she yells at him and treats him badly.
This movie is so beautiful. I love it more than the Disney remake.
