Don't blame you for not going any further tbh. especially as the maxpedition was a gift from a friend. What you did showed the difference in the two of them very well anyway. On another note... Nos !!! He's the one responsible for me owning a Cold Steel Bushman. hIs destruction test one of those convinced me to get one.
no worries, I wasn't going any further with the wire brush on either of them, i like them both too much to trash them but the result seemed quite fair and clear, the Max did well, the Vanquest did REALLY well, at the end of the day the wire brush is a nasty thing to rub into a thin bag, far more stress than the odd thorny bush would impose so they are both fit for purpose, however, the Vanquest once again trumped the Maxpedition, all the best!
I'm surprised how they both stood up to that Scott.. they both look very good despite the wire brushing, the Vanquest does look the better of the two though. Your right not to go further to destruction no point in that.. ll the best Mark
From the previous vid it was mentioned that my heavy handed blade testing could well have put many retailers off using me in Test/Evaluation for their products as Firepuck among others HAVE approached me in the past but the products never arrived after I invited them to actually view some of my vids rather than simply see I have an "okay"channel. Vanquest did stand firm in sending me the bag and I could well put it through some other ordeals but I don't wish to put it OR RolyPoly out of action.
1000d cordura no joke!! the 1050nylon is better for water but not for abrasion resistence thats why i put in first line the vanquest and spec ops stuff
thanks for your support , I'm sure most people would get enough of a view of the fabrics performance from the brushing I did rather than carrying on and screwing them both up, the Max was good, the Van better,,result!
It was as far as I would go, time will tell if this vid will be viewed as a test for Vanquest in regard to their product or what they impose upon a reviewer for their time and effort, so far the reviews I have seen are of the slinger bag called a Javelin, it does look bloody awesome but all that was involved was walking about or unzipping a few pouches. pitting it against the reviewers own personal equipment in terms of causing damage was a request I never considered. all the best Andy!
Just noted,of the last 3 comments,2 were from Uber cool people who have sent me Uber cool gifts, a massive Khukuri and a wood burning camp stove, and I sense the solidarity of their support for me in only performing a test that would damage either the Max or the Van in the most minimal way,as I mentioned in the vid concerning the Busse, "I'm not doing a destruction test on this to prove it's a Busse." the same as not going stupid on the Khukuri, the stove , the Busse, Omega, RolyPoly or Isopod.
Thanks Jedi,,,I think I went far enough at 80 strokes to show the difference in damage sustained on each pouch,,a belt sander or motor driven wire brush would have trashed both too quickly to maybe see the difference..all the best!
Thanks to this video, I discovered the brand Vanquest. But I also discovered that they have FEW choices among their products. While Maxpedition has a lot, a shitload of stuff.
I heard Maxpedition's original founder & co-owner left and became Vanquest's chief R&D. Plus a few others who worked at Maxped joined Vanquest. If that's true, that explains why Maxpedition hasn't made anything exciting all these years.
Precisely my thoughts, hence my decision to only go so far,I test my stuff, Sandy tests his stuff, Kyley tests his stuff. We'll see what transpires as recompense from Vanquest since I have now abraded this pouch and the Max I got from Kenny. Granted the product was sent for Test/Evaluation but to test to destruction is another thing entirely,I know I'm hard on gear, but I like my stuff to last if I can especially high end brands like these, or indeed awesome Khukuri!!
Your original tests were very fair , no-one tests there gear to destruction thats up to the manufacturers R+D departments. To get the same wear results in the real world you would have to live in a bramble bush for six months!, as a ex mil myself, I always like to knowhow rugged my kit is but you can normally tell just by picking something up if its good or not, if not, use it, maybe abuse it, but deliberately destroy it.makes no sense. Your review was unbiased , what more do people want?
cheers,,with 3 Science A levels studied, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and a Certificate in Natural Science I could have gone all Lab Coat but all that effort for my little you tube channel, the pressure used, time taken, all documented and verified, instruments calibrated? nah,,get a wire brush and show each of my strokes(?? ooerrr) so it looks fair enough and show the result on macro,,good enough..Ron Hood had a saying like that I think.
exactly,,like when Top Gear go hard on a family car and wreck it,,,why not give it a hard time, then service it and give it to guy who needs it? or auction for charity with their signatures on the bonnet like Arnie did to raise funds,,the total loss idea is not one I really go for. this way the result was clear and I didn't ruin either,, even a diamond can be killed,,heat up to molten and drop it in liquid O2,,boom! instant CO2,,the Noss blade tests were cool but a lot were donated I think!
If he wants a 'test to destruction' ... the guy needs to send at least one of each for the test.then a bonus incentive to cover the time and effort put in. anything less is taking the p*ss. Does he really think it's fair to expect someone to wreck his own gear to see how good his stuff looks as a comparison, then get nothing out of it except an advert for Vanquest. Does the advertising agency pay him to let them do his adverts ? I must have misunderstood a chunk of that. Sorry if I did.
very good! the industry needs more of these tests
Scott,
It's good to test our knives for our own piece of mind. Good test on the fabric too. The Vanquest was the winner.
Sandy

Looked like a rock and a hard place. What a great way you sorted it. Great vid. Thanks.

yep and the Cold Steel Kukri Machete..what a pair of blades eh??A Battle Mistress could be a little hard to get hold of though.....

WOW!......This is the first video I chose to watch after coming home from the weekend camping.
That is some good stuff there mate.
Thanks to this video, I discovered the brand Vanquest.

Pretty darn fair test mate really, given the conditions etc as you mentioned in another comment with out going all lab-coat about it. Nice one!
Very interesting i will have to get some vanquest pouches.

I clicked somewhere at the start of the video i saw a guy beating the shit out of something :D Ok i stay
