A cap on vet's prescription fees is being considered by the UK's competition body.
This is due to concerns that pet owners are overpaying for treatments after thousands of pet owners said they were struggling to pay their vet bills.
The watchdog had concerns that pet owners might not be getting basic information like price lists, and were not informed of the cost of treatments before agreeing to them.

How does it cost more to treat and animal than a human. My dog was prescribed a cream at £65 prescription that I found for £12 in a local store, madness!!

Honestly vet fees are crazy, my 15 year old cat had hyperthyroid problems that cost over £3,000 pounds for treatment plus more fore medicine. She has to have an inhaler that is £150 at a time, yet humans take the same inhaler and would cost us 10 prescription. I think if my cat didn't have insurance I don't know how we'd afforded it. Dental cost 500-1000 a time and that is just crazy as insurance just refuse to cover it. Just to see a vet is 50 pounds. I love both my old cats and their vet is nice, but sometimes you have to question the advice, like dental if the tooth not bad there is brushing, food for dental that is worth trying first because unless it is needed there is always risks to old pets being put under anyway etc... Soon people won't be able to have pets because of all the extreme costs.
