Dear Russell - - i am wondering - I have watched these , and also listened to the podcasts on Luminary - for this channel are you not doing meditations or kundalini breathing meditations any more ??? I really liked them-they helped me so much - but you've not done one for ?over a month?
Still trying to find the full episode, I can’t find it with the link or on the episode list on Apple podcasts, help?

Mickey Singer was my professor at Santa Fe community college in Gainesville in the early 70s. I learned so much from the two classes I took with him. I am forever grateful.
I went to Santa Fe about a decade too late...
The ideas we have about everything in our own heads can take up ALOT of headspace and prohibit us from observing what is actually going and kinds of things we can learn from it. ✨☀️🌈🍃
I grinned the minute he said,”I found myself in my head, looking at myself, but watching myself observe me”.....I’ve tried to explain that without someone giving me that look that a dog gives ya when he hears a fart,ya know?....

Thank you for sharing this excerpt! What Michael Singer is talking about reminds me of some basic yogic principles and I wanted to share a few reflections. The mind can flip from attachment to something or someone to aversion to something or someone, and this gets linked to our sense of happiness or unhappiness. I like and want that person or thing...if I have it then I feel happy, if I don't, I'm miserable. If I don't like something or someone then if I can stay away from it I am happy, but if I have to put up with it I am miserable. This is how we externalise our inner balance and will always end up feeling at the mercy of outer circumstances or events. How do we get out of this?!! One proposal in the yogic system is to practice cultivating sukha (comfort) in the dukha (discomfort) of everyday experience. When we sit cross-legged for meditation, this is called sukhasana in Sanskrit - which literally translates to comfort or ease (sukha) in our state of being (asana). But if, like me, you've ever tried to s8t cross-legged for any length of time it is anything BUT comfortable! Instead of sukha we experience dukha or discomfort. The invitation is to learn how to sit with that discomfort and remain at ease. This practice then helps us in everyday life because we are constantly encountering things that irritate or bother us. But if we have cultivated the capacity to be a bit more at ease with that discomfort, we can calm those inner fluctuations and feel more equanimity. This improves our own personal well being on all levels as well as our relationships...and who can say they don't want that?! For everyone out there working on this I salute you!
This is such an incredible comment!! Resonated with me so much! Thank you Anisah
Lovely response 😂👌👍
This was incredibly helpful!
Wow thanks for taking the time to share that with us. I personally found it incredibly helpful. Namaste!
Sounds just like Vipassana to me.i just finished my first 10 day Vipassana meditation retreat 🙏😃
That "voice" in my head has kept me alive and sane my whole life. It ties into intuition as well. That "voice" is how great music, poems, theroies and art, and inventions have come to be. The key is knowing the difference from a disruptive thought from a healthy one.
David Hawkins says that that's Spirit talking to you. He says Ego will take credit for the really loving, smart messages that come; but those message are actually from Spirit. (ua-cam.com/video/6dHbmZ1WUbg/v-deo.html -- go to 3:07 in that video; but the whole thing is wonderful.) And I am so glad you are so connected with Spirit. 😊
@@rumigirl FACT
Art comes from a deeper place than thought, when you're "in the zone" there's no thinking involved. But sure, we should totally use our mind for math and creation of things, that's why we have it. the problem with the mind is that if not used properly, it will ruin your life
@@murilosilvestre7736 intuition does not have anything to do with the mind. It's a feeling, an instinct, the witness... it's your higher self. It sounds like your talking about the human brain, very different.
This makes sense to me.
That sounded like a personal diagnosis. I've been trying to get away from it all my life. Every single facial expression or bit of body language is entirely conscious. I feel like an actor. If I didn't fake it I would be permanently expressionless. It becomes difficult if I have to keep it up for prolonged periods.
I relate to this!
Know exactly how u feel
i went through this period where i was meditating regularly every day and i used to experience this kind of awareness... it's mind-blowing
Micheal Singer is life changing 💞💗💞
I just finished Singer’s “doing the real work to free yourself’ before watching your video and I’ve gotten some very good tools to carry with me on my journey to my inner healing and finding inner peace. Singer uses a great analogy to explain the roadblocks we have in our minds and explains it so that it’s almost visual. You can easily visualize what he means. The thoughts in our minds are just road blocks to our highest self, our God, our spirituality, these same roadblocks keep us bound to the uneasy feeling of unhappiness, it can ruin relationships. I have the hardest time controlling my thoughts and not turn around and cover my environment with the same negative energy inside of my mind has. This is a great video, I appreciate it ❤️
Thank you for continuing to help us free ourselves from pain
If he was helping you wouldn't have to pay for it
Fred Sting thats not very nice. Its not even that expensive we pay more for a lot of crap in our lives. The teachings are timeless, history is on repeat time to really sit up and listen to those who have found the truth.
@@elizagoodytwoshoes9140 we? I don't. Yeah I know, it's not very nice charging people to listen to a "chat" when the guy's says one thing but does another. He wants more, for what? He's not on our side
@@elizagoodytwoshoes9140 found the "truth". Sorry Eliza, this guy is just following the plandemic (month behind, I might add), he hasn't found ANYTHING.
@@fredsting9515 that's the funny thing with free will, we choose😁 sorry I choose to use my own innate intelligence and you get to use yours, I have no hang ups, we take from life but what do we really give, peace out man🏵
Be fully present...not referring to past or future or daydreaming/imagination. The feeling/experiencing of the moment. This will allow thoughts to slow and cease...as thoughts are never about now...this moment. Thoughts are only about the past, the future, or imaginations. The closest thought can come is a split second ago or anticipating/imagining a split second to come. The voice in the head can go silent.
i like that
Do you think Michael would get the shot? He said “it doesn’t mean saying yes to everything,” but he also said something like ‘life is here now for a reason, so who am I to challenge what life asks me to do.’
Nonduality, 60,000 thoughts a day. Practical steps are needed. Detox the mind. Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed, be as still as possible and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight with your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Anytime of the day or night before sleep sit or lie down on your back and observe your breath. Stillness brings internal peace. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
Russ i dreamt of you last night, that you gave me a massive warm hug, & thats how i feel in your internet presence. Thank you so much for everything u do ❤️
I'll give it a try, usually every time I have issues with overthinking, anxiety, etc. I like to listen to Eckhart Tolle, just his voice puts me at peace right away, then his advice fixes the problem
Hi Russell... I find that kicking nasty and negative people out of your life always helps.. They stick negative crap in your head.
Michaels teachings would ask why were you bothered by them so much that you had to kick them out of your life. When we push things away we actually haven't pushed them away, we haven't handled the moment and so we push away and pull things to us we do like and so begins the tooing and froing. Learning to really let go is what he teaches.
Keep it going on the same trajectory R.B. Keep developing your relationship with the deeper version of you and keep unabashedly asking the big questions we’re all wanting to build up our own bravery to ask
Russ!! Been a huge supporter and distributor of your content. The way you use the English language has vividly painted a more “true” worldly perspective. I would appreciate if you continued or increasingy brought up current events through your eyes and ways we can promote individual autonomy, or promote a new cultural awakening.
Ones spiritual awakening is beautiful, but imagine contributing the the cumulative consciousness 🙏🏻
Aaron, Russle does have another channel that's about just that. Look up russle brand and youll find the other channel.
What a beautiful video! I've been observing myself for months now and I've reached basically the same realization, that voice, the thoughts that come up, the intensity with which they come, that isn't me, I'm just the awareness that perceives them. And the thoughts are the result of how I lived my life up to this point, so blaming them on anything doesn't work, as I would be blaming myself.
I'm hungry for this awareness too. Are we talking months of meditation? Thanks
@@richmac6345 not really, at least not classic meditation. To me these realizations came upon close study of my own self. What thoughts arise at what time and with what occasion? What states arise and are controlling me and what events in the recent and far past are they connected to? Those are the questions that bring awareness, meditation is simply a tool to allow these questions and answers to exist if the current conscious is overwhelmed.
@@richmac6345 did you read untethered sole?
I had a breakthrough yesterday. I've been doing the Wim Hof method for a week or so. I had a full blown panic attack, I usually just sit with it. This time I imagined the cold water on my head and started breathing. The fastest I've ever recovered!
Stay away from hyperventilating, which is the wim hof method if it induces more panic and anxiety.

The guy who thinks he knows more about Covid than the scientists?
@@TravisBickle0312 oh you mean the scientists that can't admit that masks and lkdowns don't help despite the statistics? Or the doctors that were told what to do, despite seeing the protocols killing people (vntilatrs etc)
What about the shots that aren't really stopping the spread? But they wanna mandate it on everyone, even those who have natural immunity?
Please, go listen to the industry that has clear conflicts of interest over honest questions. Be a sheep or whatever I don't give a fk what you think if you don't wake up from this. Go follow your masters
@@skynet4496 Well, first off I'm not an expert in the subject so I have to tentatively and provisionally rely on the advice from the actual experts who I am more reasonably justified in believing have a better grasp on the situation than you and your "common sense." This is just a fact and this wouldn't change Irregardless of my ability or inability to articulate or defend my specific views on this topic. You know the guys and girls the whole world over who actually study this day in and day out, publish peer reviewed papers and who actually know what they're talking about? Yeah, my opinions aren't equal to theirs and neither are yours. Our intuitions about what's obviously "common sense" change as we become more knowledgeable on a specific topic. This applies to everything from health and medicine to the economy and everything in between. The fact of the matter is is that currently the scientific consensus is that lockdowns and masks do actually help this is why countries the world over are engaging in said lockdowns and mask wearing rules and why they're desperately trying to find a fine balance between not destroying their economy whilst still restricting and slowing the spread of the virus, all be it to varying degrees of competency.
As far as I can tell the majority scientific consensus is that vaccines help to reduce the chance of people getting sick and using up valuable medical resources and that they also help reduce the chances of you passing on the disease to others. Vaccines are the reason we no longer have a whole host of illnesses today which once plagued humanity, the scientists aren't all quacks in on some perfect conspiracy theory. How do you know how your immune system will respond to covid until you've had it? If you've had it how do you know you won't contract another variant and end up in hospital?
The issue with you people is you suffer from a major case of the Dunning Kruger effect. The difference between me and you is I don't pretend to be a qualified expert with perfect knowledge. Not all opinions are equally valid I'm afraid. If you have compelling evidence that all the scientists are wrong then present your evidence and get your Nobel prize. Should be easy work if it's as simple and obvious as you believe it to be.
Yes, I'm just a sheep for not believing in claims people make until we have sufficient evidence to believe those claims. You sound like me when I was 14 years old.
I'm going to hazard a guess and say you're a right winger, possibly American? I apologize if this doesn't apply to you but I'll say it anyway. All this drivel about "bowing to your masters" and believing in conspiracy dog shit is just embarrassing. You and your religious nutcase clown show cult are constantly advertising your stupidity to the world. It isn't brave, it isn't clever it's just embarrassing and quite frankly I'm sick of you people. I'm not bowing to anybody, I'm open to the science and advice changing and progressing as time goes on, that's the nature of science.
@@TravisBickle0312 sorry, none of that makes sense when the so called experts on TV ignore the issues. When they had the swine flu jab killing 53 people it was pulled. More got injured from this one and nobody seems to try to look into why this is happening?
Absolutely what I needed to hear!!! Letting go of the inner noise to focus on life's beauty. WOW!!!!
I need this right now my inner thought processes are absolutely insane and it’s driving me mad
What’s the scenery look like while ‘driving’? Who is driving and who are the passengers and WHAT are they saying to one another? thank you russell, love you!!... i feel very similar in experience to yours, in almost everything you say, so thank you for bringing a voice and the language, vocab, and expression to how i'm feeling... it's nice to hear it articulated so well(you're amazing in that regard)... michael seems like such an amazing soul... i've read untethered soul, but not his surrender... thanks for what you do... so very grateful for you :)
Also A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle is an excellent book explaining what the ego is and how it works.

This is absolutely brilliant. i have heard this many times (“observing”) and for whatever reason, it did not “click” u til today…. Mind blown. Thank you Mr. Brand!!! Please keep these videos and discussions going!!
I was thinking about taking a year off to better understand myself at 35 years old. I want to work on my mental health. Then I see this video and he did exactly that. I was wondering if I was crazy, but this man made it work.
Hey Russell, I really love all your stuff and I watch both of these channels all the time. Thanks for being a voice of reason in this weird world. And thanks for respecting multiple perspectives. I can’t afford a luminary subscription at this point in my life, but maybe soon. There are lots of podcasts I’d really LOVE to check out.
Thank you Russell. I know the impact the surrender experiment and the untethered soul had on my life - you could say the untethered soul was the beginning thread that I pulled on that allowed me to invite more awareness of my self and the egos at play by observing that endless internal monologue and constant melodrama. It was the first step in recognising the prison of the mind.
I’m so grateful you are sharing your wisdom and the wisdom of kindred souls like Michael Singer, Eckhart Tolle, Ram Dass and many others - to the world on your platform.
It’s so refreshing to see a self aware/self remembering being use their voice and platform for the betterment of others and to inspire and help walk each other back home to the soul and choosing differently to ‘society’
Thank you for choosing to act in accordance to the music our your soul and the hymn of your higher self. I would love to see you do a topic on Krishna Das and the power of Kirtan and chanting names of the divine (K.D was a devotee of Maharaji at the same point in time as Ram Dass and was a dear friend of him ♥️) the Kirtan voice of our time.
My partner and I have found so much peace, stillness and love through his Kirtans and weekly free online UA-cam Satsangs. It’s such a powerful sadhana we have incorporated, it sparks so much unexpected Joy and has introduced us to such a beautiful alternative vehicle for mantra use 💕

Very good man, and you Russel, are the voice of so many people. You speak for so many minds. Great interview, great guest.
Really enjoy you, and your shares...thank you. I did Michael's course on Surrender, and love it and practice it. I'm doing my second round on the course to gain new awareness each time 💙😊
Many years ago while TRYING to meditate (unsuccessfully due to monkey mind) I suddenly became aware of my higher self or a spirit guide behind and slightly above me, shaking its head with arms folded across the chest with an attitude of “Look at that silly girl struggling with herself. What will we do with her?” It was shocking and funny. :-)
Really? Wow. How has that shaped your life?
Wow really???
Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with the amazing soul of Michael (Mickey) Singer. I admire you both for all you have done and appreciate your conversation sincerely all the best
I AM so ecstatic to see this YT channel!! I have shared it on my SM! I must Testify now! *your anticipated patience is much appreciated*! I, like you Russell, evolved partly via my foray into drugs. Mine only different in that I was 40 years old when I picked up the addiction. It ended up being an 18 year addiction. The last 8 or so I spent clawing, scratching, biting and climbing out of that pit of toxicity! I AM FREE! However, the last 3 years I began, at first, having thoughts that were totally foreign to me! At first, I thought I was losing my sanity. After some months in that state, I then had what I know was my first "dark night of the soul". At that point, I actually checked the obituaries for the past weeks because I thought I had died and didn't realize it. 😂 Yes, now I can look back and laugh! FF to today. Once my body was no longer toxic, I could put into action all I had learned! Spiritually/Consciously, I've been in hyper speed! YOU, Russell! You were there for me thru much of it! And I hadn't even discovered this YT channel yet! Much, much gratitude for you! I knew intuitively long ago that you were to play an enormous part in assisting humanity in the Awakening process!! Much Love!! #LoveandLight PS I am commenting under my 20 year old sons account. (longer story). I AM a 58 year old woman named Melody. 😆
Russell, absolutely.
I can't even look in the mirror and aswell haven't in years
Thank you, dear Russell, for making our lives more “spacious.” ❤️🌹
If it wasn't because of you, Russell Brand, I would never hear about Michael Singer and I wouldn't change my life through his teachings. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Both of you.
This came at the perfect time as a busy + occasionally stressed trainee waiter in a pizza restaurant. My mind took over last night, admittedly it was fairly busy last night & stressful + confusing at times. I tried to ignore the mind but my thoughts do like to multiply several times when i percieve stress at work + im willing to work on stress responses. The only time i really get stressed is at work
Sometimes you need to spend some time in silence and spend some time and listern to their subconscious which is the problem solving part of the brain no matter how comfortable it feels.
Just let it wash over you and like a storm eventually it will pass and you may come out of it stronger from it.
Dude! I love you, Russell Brand. Excellent smile, I must say. Shine on! I'm in Florida and learned of Michael Singer 2.5 weeks ago for the first time. Within a few moments listening to him on Mayim Bialik I was uplifted, able to step away from 'the noise'..., if only momentarily, but I did it. The past two Sundays, I attended Sunday service at Michaels' Temple of the Universe. This 7/24, I was THRILLED to hear that you two talked. I got home Sunday afternoon to Palm Coast and listened, then found this ten-minute chat today too. (You brilliant, cheeky, recover-er you!) That knowing smile you twinkled! So... thank you for SO much. Keep sharing, smiling, going on, thinking, being. (I can follow you better when you talk slow, like this particular video - yet I hear ya lil' bro, I hear ya.) Oh! And do permit the musings of an aging flirt, who does daresay that nigh-on 63-years-old "I want a 'Liz Smith' moment from you," like she got on that 60 Minutes interview when you laid a surprise kiss on her... (with all due respect to your wife,) good man. LOL! That was massive! Loved it, (she did too - says the Heyoka empath in me,) love you. Bedtime Stories is a way too hidden a treasure of a movie not enough people have seen, I do declare.

I love your passion for helping people to awake. Thank you so much for sharing this enterview
I've recently found Michael's work and it's blown me away. I'm gonna continue with it. The challenge I have with it is that I've been following(and will continue with) Tara Brach and others who emphasise self compassion. I know the voice in the head is not the true self, but I'm afraid of creating a split self, wherein one ignores valid(and to be looked after for sanity's sake) psychological matters that need attention.
How's it going for ya?
I totally understand what you mean. On my own "spiritual" journey I got kind of lost because I didn't know how to relate to my mind and if/how much I should listen to it. But now I have learned that cultivating a higher mind is something worth doing, because a higher mind can take better decisions and see things more clearly! My "self" can still observe this mind yadayada - but I found out it is better to live with a higher mind that is compassionate to oneself, than a mind that is always belittling oneself or talking trash to oneself! You see my point? There's no way I'm ever getting rid of my mind, so I rather have a compassionate and kind mind that can help me in making decisions and help me take good action in the world. :)
Thanks for this. I needed to hear this. I want the books now. That voice is always driving me nuts.

My therapist taught me this about "head wisdom": my head is trying to keep me safe. All those thoughts coming into my mind are a result of that one thing.
If I can recognize the thoughts as a loving mind trying to keep me from harm, I can smile and send those thoughts out into the ether. They visit but don't stay, and increasingly I'm able to avoid having most of these anxious thoughts at all.
That is lovely. Tks for sharing.

There are so so much more going in than what our eyes can perceive. This is the reason why our skin is the biggest organ. The hairs are receptors that help us to understand our environment. To shut this down is to sever ourselves from utilising and understanding our higher self - who can see so farther than our eyes can. We need to harness this human divine essence not to ignore it or shut it down!
I am currently in a paralyzed state where I can't stop talking to myself in my head and it's very negative to the point where I've isolated from all my family and friends. I am going to be 58 and I feel like I've wasted my life that is a huge factor that is holding on to me not letting me get back to socializing and enjoying the journey; one would think it would be the opposite and I would be calling and reaching out to former friends but I do not???? I like what he's talking about I want to hear more you have a lot of very cool content on this you tube channel. Thank you for making these helpful videos.

I think that was Eckhart Tolle's experience as well - aware of awareness
That is right!
Have you read 'being aware of being aware' by Rupert Spira, its really good
Michael Singer is the only one I've found who goes beyond just aware of awareness to where the energetic flow of life, the fountain, the ever new joy is found.
@@elizagoodytwoshoes9140 I'm looking forward to reading 📚 it
I really like what this guy has to say.
While listening, my inner voice wanted Micheal Singer to look like Larry David, and it didn't dissapoint. In all seriousness, this sounds like an amazing experiment to try! I look forward to it.
I'm glad to see this again, great reminder & perfect timing. Your videos are interesting & helpful. Working on improving the relationship with myself and with others so love videos like this one and the one with Brené Brown. Would like to see more videos about relationships (marriage etc.) and boundaries. Wish we could all live in harmony, with ourselves & others... Thanks for all you, and your team, do 🙏 Sending love & gratitude
Great that Michael had this experience and I'm listening to the Untethered Soul and then the surrender project but how many people who study and apply themselves also aquire this perspective? I'm desperate to achieve this myself as I've never been happy as I'm unable to like or love anyone so I'm always alone. Thankfully I'm finally discovering how to be happy on my own... Russell? Anyone?
