It is. Something tells me that there is an issue with DS9 that CBS and Paramount are not talking about. Otherwise why haven’t they released anything to do with DS9 since the original DVD releases. TOS and TNG have had how many releases and DS9 gets only 1. Something is going on there.
I would assume DS9 having much more VFX especially for the space scenes would make it extremely cost prohibitive to go back and redo for a HD remaster. We got a glimpse of it being done for the DS9 documentary a few years ago… and boy was that glorious.

It would have been nice to have had metal hard cases for discs sets with like a 3d emboss. Coasters are lovely print, again shame they didn’t do metal ones to make them last longer. As well as I think it would of been great if the cards had pictures of characters/key moments/battles etc 🤔. But the backing of those cards are beautiful 😍. What a nice box set, when you think of the cost of buying all those separately it probably costs about the same or maybe a little bit less as the cost of the TNG box sets have gone down over the years. Great unboxing.
I have most of it on DVD, except the new series. It looks like a nice set, but I don't forsee myself buying one anytime soon unless it is a really good deal. As for your review, you seem fairly confident and you speak clearly. Easy on the eyes, too. Seem knowledgeable about Star Trek. Overall, very well done.
I think for you it would be worth. They remastered the whole show. The picture quality is just amazing. You see things that you normally would have missed just watching it in the SD version.

It seems like a nice set, but besides Star Trek: Picard-The Complete Series Blu Ray, most Star Trek fans already have TNG and its films already in blu ray. Not worth the Paramount double dip! I'll just buy Star Trek: Picard-The Complete Series Blu Ray. The Card Set and other trinkets aren't really worth anything special.
Agreed that's why I think it will just be collectors that buy it and most probably will keep it in the box on a shelf.... like I said in the video I did expect the magnets and coasters and cards to be abit more luxurious than they were
It's a lovely boxset, and I appreciate that being Limited Edition adds some value to it. In Canada, it's currently $265.99 from the big A. Considering that the Picard Blu-ray boxset costs about $70 alone makes this bundle reasonable - if you don't already own much of it already. I like it, but won't invest in it. I'll wait for Picard to drop in price (I am a Picard fan, but found the series sadly lacking. Until the final season), as it inevitably will. Another small criticism: the coasters are a nice touch. For the coolness factor, leave the marketing name off the bottom so they seem more "in universe" generic, rather than obviously real world fan item. Does that make sense?
It seems a bit pricey for what you get. The disks and book, I'd say that's worth 150 max. That's $10 each per season, movie, and book. Maybe 160, depending how long the book is. The cheap cases, magnets, cardboard "coasters", and playing cards add zero value. For $230, which is what I'm seeing it for at Best Buy, I would want: Replica TNG era combadge (magnetic backing). Action figure; statuette; or bust of Picard (maybe 4-6" high). Enterprise D figure (2-3" long) As it is, this seems a bit overpriced, even for a Ltd Edition.

I was really let down that not even the TNG badge was like the 50th Anniversary Set badge. Funny how that gets a wearable magnetic badge for a show where the delta was sewn into the uniform, while TNG onwards was separate peice of the uniform, "lol fridge magnets will do."

The boxsets for TNG, do they use those disc holders that are really tough and you practically have to bend the discs to get them out and then you risk damaging them? They look like those ones, which would be a shame as I plan to get this as buying it all separately would actually work out more where I am, but those cases really irritate me (cramming that many discs in one case annoys me enough as it is). I don't personally care that there's no 4K here because (1) I don't have a 4K TV, (2) the show (except Picard) and films are all well over 20 years old so 4K really won't do a whole lot and (3) I actually prefer when older shows look old. I kept my DVD of The Wire instead of upgrading to Blu Ray because I actually much prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio and lower resolution for older shows. I'm just worried about those cases
As a graphic designer who designs packaging all day, I used to work on luxury and special box sets back in the day and this is piss poor. If you visit any Asian store, even soap operas have beautiful box sets with hard bound book like enclosures, magnets, figurines and chachkis. For them to put in some poorly printed magnets and PAPER coasters, seriously? Not even a messily PIN? magnets? And those plastic cases for the TNG sets, ugh. Awful. CBS paramount has never cared about fans . We sit here with our credit cards in our hands and they don’t care.
It’s Paramount. It’s a cash-in on collectors who will literally buy ANYTHING with the Star Trek name attached. These multi-billion dollar companies don’t care about quality, they just want to profit off the legacy of their decades long intellectual property. . .
Yeah, I can stream all this on Paramount Plus, a key reason one still buys physical media is to own a beautiful object. That's why vinyl LPs with their big beautiful cardboard covers are currently outselling CDs with their horrible little jewel cases. This is just functional, not art.
Meh it’s a nice box set but not £200 nice. I’d expect the badges to be actual badges at least and the card set just seems like a cheap unimaginative add on. Around £125 would be more reasonable imo

It's worth it if you're planning on buying all the blu rays or you're an avid collector but I do think most fans may already own next gen on blu Ray
