At about the 1 minute mark it looked like another one lying on the ground or am I seeing things,,lol I thought you were going to have to get out the saws all to bust into that thing. Take care

rchopp You stand correct, I had overlooked it. Cutting the skin on that fruit reminded me of ABS plastic. I am guessing that it is very bug resistant. Thanks.

It not right because the fruit is not done yet, The best way is taking off the shell and seeds put it in a blender and drink it. Of course put water and ice in the blender.

I grow some...mine are yellow. Next time use a chef knife and slice it in the other direction. My seeds are black. Since the fruit wasn't ripe don't know if they will grow, kinda like a cucumber seed. I germinated the seeds in the worm bin...but if I would save for next year..I'd place in water let the pulp ferment..it would fall right off, then dehydrate..like coffee. When it's nice and ripe to me it tastes like a much more delicious honeydew..like honey dipped honeydew!

Cassabanana? I've never heard of such a critter. Since you're in FL. also have you ever heard of Everglades tomatoes? I just got some because the are supposed to produce all year round here in FL. I'm in Seffner by the way.

Haven't heard about Everglade tomatoes but, I will check into them. My wife says she has visited the Seffner-Mango Wal-Mart before "as well as many others".lol

homesteadprepper Almost forgot there is a guy on craigslist in the garden section selling them for $3 per plant. He's in Tampa. If mine were bigger I would offer you a clipping but they just got started and aren't that big. These are supposed to start just from a clipping or seed.

That is one ornery fruit. I really thought it was going to take your knives away from you and wrestle you to the floor. You must have a special kind of olive oil to be able to fry with it at that high of heat without burning. Olive oil stinks up the whole house when it burns. I know ... my son cooks everything on high.

BC ElginTex The skin almost had sheet metal like quality to it. lol. The olive oil was cheap and from Sam's.

question- why do us americans try things which we know nothing about? lol

That is how we learn. People who never have the guts to try anything new, live unfulfilled lives.
