use harpic initially, then polish with solvol or similar. once polished keep on top of cleaning and pipes will stay bright. (done this with MT07 and ER6n and both look really good)
I've tried a few things - Dremel with one of those abrasive wheels for rust did an alright job, but can be a bit harsh! Scouring didn't seem to touch it. I need to do some further testing! I've read that people use Autosol and scouring pads, but I got bored/tired before it seemed to have much impact!
