@Rangers News Channel can your local team play in European games. And linfield went full time last season. 😂😂 And a few more teams have went full time.
As a Cliftonville fan, I remember back in 1990 or 1991 a grenade was thrown at us ( spion kop away end ) at the old Windsor park ground during a match against Linfield, it exploded and a wee mini-riot broke out from a section of the crowd at the top of the terrace. After the scuffles & a bit of a baton charge by the police, it had all quietened down around 15/20 minutes before the focus was then turned back to the football on the pitch. The funny thing is that the match itself never stopped and continued on as if this was a normal crazy part of life lol.

Hey man fantastic video it's great to learn about other teams/leagues in the UK.i find it interesting how linfield fans are also huge rangers fan I think it would be great if you can make a video about that and also talk about Belfast celtic who used to be linfield biggest rival before they withdrew from the Irish football league. Great video Sam. Thanks for promoting the Irish league. Hopefully you come back for games when the season starts. Good to see the Glenavon lads on the video. Up the Lurgan Blues
Great to see you being so well looked after. Hopefully you get back for a match that really matters at some point. The Bel-Classico or maybe to see the National team. Keep up the great work buddy.
Sam, given you did this video on Linfield (great club by the way!) have you thought about doing one on the former great rival of Linfield, Belfast Celtic? I know Celtic finished up just after WWII due to terrible violence but they have a fascinating history too. Imagine if those two clubs still competed against each other these days?
Hey Brendan, thanks for watching mate. I'm definitely aware of Belfast Celtic - what a sad story it is. They're definitely on my "to-do list" when I'm next back over. Sadly didn't have time to fit that in this time around but it's definitely on the agenda next time!! Cheers
The Northern Irish league is just like the Scottish league. Teams only good against their own because of the budget and no recognition. It’s great seeing you cover Linfield and other Irish teams north and south, hopefully other people start to see the history of the league.
@@Support-your-local-team Being that I support Motherwell mate I’m not disrespecting the league at all, also Scotland thanks to what only Rangers has done in the last 3 years is 9th. Compare the budget to winning the league 1st in Scotland took home £3mill and N Ireland is probably waaaaaay less. Also getting relegated from all top 5 leagues get more than winning in Scotland.
@@adamscott1738 The old firm always make up the bulk of the coefficient points but actually the other teams have had an improvement in results too which have contributed. Nothing too remarkable but still some respectable results for the 3rd/4th/5th European sides in a small country. Clubs from lower ranked countries are always disadvantaged by the amount of qualifiers and the seedings but now that Scotland has moved up and the third placed team has European football guaranteed until Christmas it's a good opportunity. I know the reasons why N.I football is at a disadvantage and I agree with you, all I meant is I don't think their football is that much like ours.
You should visit Windsor for a competitive match, preferably against one of their Belfast rivals any of which is always a good atmosphere, you get only a tiny crowd for friendlies.
Brilliant content on this channel! But the only reason Linfield are so successful is because their biggest competition (Belfast Celtic ☘️) were forced out of professional football due to violence from pro unionists and a player nearly being killed by linfield fans on the pitch.
@@revsin1886 A quick Google search confirms what I and everyone already knows - it's true and that's exactly what happened. Boxing Day 1948, Celtic already champions of the Irish League visiting their great rivals. A few red cards for either side and a rough (albeit innocent) Jimmy Jones tackle on Bob Bryson added fuel to the fire. Then when Celtic equalised late on in the game, it happened. Uniformed RIC officers (who, as a police force are supposed to be neutral but as we all know, they weren't) threw their caps in the air at every Linfield goal, and allowed the invasion to take place. Jimmy Jones had his right leg completely smashed to pieces by Loyalist Linfield fans before one of his good mates had to throw himself 10ft down the stands on top of him to shield him. Jones had a promising career absolutely ruined by their mob. No suitable action was taken by the IFA or the RIC (of course it wasn't) and this appalled the Belfast Celtic board to it's core, so badly that a year later - after selling off all their key players - headed off on a farewell tour of North America and tendered their resignation to the IFA. Now I'm a Celtic fan so anything I would have added to that myself would be construed as bias, so I've left everything I've written almost word-for-word (again, a quick Google verifies everything I said - an article by the BBC is where this info has come from - the irony in that alone) So stop trying to defend the actions of this abhorrent club and it's fans - the memory of Belfast Celtic deserves better than to have people like you lie about what caused their downfall. It had nothing to do with financial woes - they were entirely let down by the unequivocally biased pro-Unionist authorities that were supposed to protect them.
Belfast Celtic, Glasgow Celtic, Rangers, Linfield... bore off.. sure let's have a Sporting Lisburn, Real Maghaberry, FC Portodown... no respect for any club that doesn't have its own identity... cliftonville too
@@robertanderson2552 I agree with this 100%, the Irish League definitely doesn't have enough clubs that have their own identity separate from the political leanings that dominate both Northern Irish and Scottish football, which is why they all turn out to be "mini-Celtic" or "mini-Rangers". Definitely something we need in the league.
