- The thing I love most about the comic book art community is how cool everybody is with each other... from the fans to the professionals. One of my buddies here (ThAdonis) commented in a video about how he'd like to see Simon Bisley on the channel. Another buddy of mine who has his own UA-cam channel ( / zawan ) saw the comment and said that he was going to a East Coast Comic Con just to see Simon the very next day. The odds of those circumstances lining up have to be mind numbingly low but yet here we are... enjoying a sweet Batman sketch by Simon Bisley together. If I get to the end of my life and find out that there isn't a big guy watching over all of us making sure everything goes according to plan... I'm going to be shocked.

I'm just here to say this is my Batman and I'm holding the camera. Simon had 26 commissions to get done in 6 hours and wouldn't take anymore. I begged and pleaded and he knocked out this Batman for me in 20 minutes. So of course it's not cover quality but this is a convention and he's working pretty fast. At then end of the day I am extremely happy to own this piece. Oh also Simon is funny as fuck and a great professional.

this guy was a freakin workhorse. I was blessed enough to be allowed to just stand there for the entire convention. Took pics of all 20-26 pieces he did. Gonna try and edit a video sometime soon!
Zawan it's an honor to own an original piece, I'd feel fortunate to own it just because he did it, I apologize for my choice of words when describing it, in retrospect I shouldn't have said that, he is obviously on a time crunch at a convention.

it's a convention with limited time. The actual style of Simon Bisley takes time.. a lot of time to get to that rendered version of his art we all are used to.
Exactly, Pete, what you said makes no sense at all! His regular 'familiar' work takes hours to do. This is just a simple sketch.Though when you really know about painting, it's easy to recognize his style in this mere sketch actually.There's everything you're familiar with in it, just done ultra swiftly, that's it.

Simon Biz is the man! I have collected his work from Heavy Metal, 2000 AD, DC, and VerotiK, he has definitely become an icon in his own right. I love the fact that you were able to capture his pencils, inking, and ink washing techniques. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece of a video. As an artist, this truly inspires! Cannot believe the negative comments about this sketch “his old work was better” “horrible”. It’s a full on *painting* in *twenty minutes*. What you think he painted that Judgement on Gotham cover in half an hour? Some people are so ignorant of the work that goes into producing art

Sam Cooke yes it is, I agree 100%. I'm an artist myself BTW. I'm not downing him by any means, he has some of the most incredible covers I've ever seen. But this right here gets 2 thumbs all the way down, IMO.
