Honesty this is why I prefer wot(console version) events as it give you 2 months to grind out the events and it's not hard to do so you don't need to go full no life on those events

it's quite a hard tank to balance, when it was at 8.0 it completely stomped, even with the lack of stabilizer it's armor nullifies most apds rounds it faces and Heatfs if not well aimed or isnt 105heatfs, and AP rounds stand absolutely no chance agaisnt it, which is the most used ammo at those levels, and at 8.3 strong apds and apfsds gets spammed a lot more, in an 8.3 match it still stomps easily, but in an uptier to 9.3 it gets obliterated, the high tier heavytank syndrome pretty much, plus now with volumetric AP rounds are almost completely useless against it, making it even harder to balance,also the problem of facing 9.0-9.3 premiums, even with decompression this tank is still really hard to balance, in downtiers it completely stomps and in uptiers it has little chance due to the lack of stab, then the obj279 is pretty much better at absolutely everything and also with stab and sends the is7 to oblivion and forgotten
The problem with lowering the BR to 8.0 is that It stomps other heavies. The solution? Lower the BR of those heavies.
Lets be honest here... Almost every heavy tank that is at a BR higher than 6.7 is struggling against HEATFS, APDS, ATGMs, and the occasional APFSDS.
@@xxfalconarasxx5659 Most of the time, I wouldn't really care about some hull tank destroyers killing me (like the object 276, JPZ4-5, Jagdtigers) because they're vehicles that put alot of point in firepower and generally mediocre at everything else. But when they added U-SH, T114 and other speedy go-carts the game just becomes World of Tanks.
i remember all the ages of warthunder. 1- the age of trying. they tried to make a historic balanced game. 2- the age of bias. they made tanks of a certain nation with over lapping invisible armour and derp rounds that over perform on angles. 3- the age of money. they will do or try anything no matter the cost to the player base just to get money.
we are going through a bit of a renaissance of the second age at the moment.
I'd say the age of bias and money are the same thing. Bias exists to pander to their money makers.

I have it, if you know what you're doing and if its spaded, its actually amazing. I've gotten 2 aces in a single match multiple times with it. The sights are the best part, the atgms are laser guided i belive, usually 1 taps everything at its br. If u have the time get it, it may be hard to spade because of the stock 40mm.

This past week I've been using my IS-7 to grind soviet tier 6 in hopes of the anniversary sale (I bought a talisman for it way back when I first got it), and it's really reminded me that this tank has fallen on hard times. It's like the only russian tank that Gaijin has ever come down hard on with it's 20k lion rep cost (down from 24k just last week). The game has changed around it. Not only did it go up to 8.3 but more stuff has been added that could damage it. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the leoa1a1 L/44 used to be 9.3 or was it 8.7? Regardless, things like premium dart tanks for Italy, China, and France have all entered the game, Germany got the BMP-1 which with it's upgraded missile can easily penetrate it from any angle and it sits a whole BR bracket lower than the IS-7, the Wall-e is an annoying little fucker to face in this tank for sure, plus the couple sabot buffs the British have been riding high off of for a while now. Can't forget helicopters too. I unironically think this tank should go back to 8.0 (remember when the Object 279 was introduced and they were both the same br, lul). Or at least get rid of i'ts bonkers repair cost jeez. There are lots of tanks starting at 7.0 that use HEAT, HESH, or sabot that can easily disable the IS-7 frontally (you only need around 250mm to go through the front of the turret to get the gun breech and the gunner) but it's not a lolpen like it is normally with the tanks it usually faces. Also the IS-7 is far rarer than most tanks in the game so tweaking it has far less of an impact on the game.
That being said the one thing that this tank does have going for it is it's spacious for a soviet tank and has lots of crew so I often take a real pounding before I die and it's sometimes good enough to allow my teammates to rescue me. Even when fighting at it's own BR I live in fear of chieftains and don't really play too brashly. Complaining about the performance is the IS-7 is truly first world problems even by war thunder standards but it's just such a cool tank I wish it didn't have to see the top tier premiums so often.
As an afterthought I do want to mention that I have a very respectable 2.45 K:D in this thing so you can still do well in it, just not as an unstoppable monster with your finger taped to the W. You just become another camper tank or a bear mode light tank.
If is-7 should go back to 8.0, that gonna be a lot of problem for other 7.0 vehicles, and t95 would cry seing is-7 armour and speed.
Consider playing it in sim, there's an event where the IS-7 is the highest BR tank. It's still expensive to repair, but at least you don't face constant uptiers in it.
Yeah, put it at 8.0 for Centurion MK. 3 and Caernarvon to face it, no its fine at 8.3, no reason to put it lower.
@@Kubulin24 this. When compared to some equivalent tank, like maus and is-4m, which is both at 7.7, and 8.0 at arcade for maus, the is-7 is completely superior in every aspect compared to those two. Putting it at 8.0 would make those vehicle irrelevant.
This is one of those vehicles that doesn't have a place in the game as anything other than a backup.
If you lower its BR it becomes unstoppable. If you keep it where it is it's Swiss-cheese.
IMO, most non-production models of tanks just simply don't fit the meta for their respective BRs.
getting this tank was so difficult, and I didn't spend a cent on it, totally by grinding, it nearly cost my marriage

I don't think so, otherwise I think he would have turned faster to face armor. He probably shot, thought that he penned or at least got something critical, but then realized too late he got server lagged.

Honestly was confused why people called the IS-7 op when it was literally just an Is 3 with an auto loader at 8.3. The Obj 279 on the other hand, is a slightly slower, slower reloading, stabilized, invulnerable heavy tank, try to kill one with the Aubl 74 hvg spoilers it's basically impossible unless you hit the back of the turret perfectly the side is impossible to penetrate.
I sometimes also struggle even with the A1A1 with DM23 but that is also because my shells somehow just bounce off or disintegrate even tho I shot a weakspot

Would have been awesome to receive the one with the stabilizer they planned to have on the IS-7. But then again it still wouldn’t fit in, just like the Maus, she is cool to have but more often then not, is not really fun to play, I do like looking at mine in the hanger and think back on the valuable time I shall never get back 😂😂😂
Strange though. Tank was designed (but not ever produced) in 1945(!). So it suffers greatly vs heat-fs. But it's sitting in 8.3 (???) and you can and will encounter even tanks with APFSDS which it stand NO chance against. It regained some of its glory with the volumetric shell update, but still, all russian tanks did gain extra BS protection. So not really a big plus.
The Obj 279, which was designed to withstand heat-fs and even APFSDS (in some degree), is sitting at 8.7! The Obj. 279 is and will always be the biggest bullshit bias tank around. Not this thing.
So again, a beautifull, albeit prototype tank suffering due to the BR system.
Also, I think the auto-loading system on this thing might be bugged. Or the first-ammo stowage is not being properly replenished by the crew or something.

I haven't played War Thunder in a very long time. But I will be honest, the IS-7 was and still is a cool tank. The problem I see with it is that it's a tank which looks like it was intended to roll with the likes of the IS-4 and other post WW2/Pre-Cold War vehicles at the same tier level back before they added all of the Late Cold-War/Early Modern vehicles. Back when I was still heavy into playing Armored Warfare I got their version of the IS-7 as a free gift which is still fun. But it's only a tier-3 tank in AW because it's a Late WW2/Early Cold-War design. It's also slower than sin in everything that it does and any early vehicle with a rocket can hurt it easily. But it's still fun if you're willing to use it as intended. I'd say with the likes of all of the fancy modern vehicles in War Thunder now the IS-7 is more of just a collectors vehicle now. :)
And this monster has the same BR like T-10M... quite unfair to.. T-10M, having the only advantage in gun stabilizer :(
the Soviet Union in 1949 had an is-7, which they could improve and mass-produce from the 50s... And what could the Allies oppose?
IS-7 is kindda obsolete with T-10M being superior in every way except for less machine guns. But even so it has the 2x 14mm machine guns, the others are useless anyway.

Not because is a bias tank, is because I didn't manage to get it I only needed the turret, i pretty much left the game for like 2 years, Until quarantine hit everyone up and I started playing again. But In the end I was sad I didn't get the IS7

the fact that they managed to put so much armor, firepower and mobility at the same weight as a King Tiger baffles me
My guess is it’s because the tiger II hull is so square and massive space-wise
The pike nose and v-hull was a huge innovation that improved the effectiveness of the armour without needing to add more weight to the vehicle. The USSR was in the lead when it came armour technology during the post war period. They were one of the first countries to implement reactive and composite armour to their vehicles.
I think they put a little more effort/post war tech into the engine

You don’t know how bad I want the IS-7 i am a Russian main in war thunder only have 4 tanks left in the tree to research but I have the IS-7 in 2 other game and i have a variant of the 279 in all 3 games it is the only tank in war thunder I’m willing to pay for and the only tank i want anymore in war thunder.
I agree with you Justin at the end, but if you were honest at the end, why couldn't it be the same in the examples? From the highlights it looked like a great vehicle. Perhaps shows highlights that show not only strengths of the vehicle, but the weaknesses as well.

Such a shame the IS7 has fallen. So many sleepless nights grinding this (I’m no wallet warrior). But I suppose a lot of these brawlers have suffered against them pesky MBT’s (damn them). But still nice to have it in my garage of memories of the good old War Thunder days when heavies ruled. RIP IS7 and all heavies. 😢

When it came out it was almost unstoppable. The most annoying tank to play against back then.
It still is if you face it in a tank that doesn't have high pen Heat-fs or Apfsds. That T32E1 and the Foch he came up against can't scratch it from the front and it's gonna be difficult to pen it even from the side with the T32.

Justin while you are on the high tier Russian heavy topic, take out the 279, it is one of the most fun vehicles I personally have played and I think it would fit your playstyle more than the IS-7.

Yeah good luck in your Tiger 2 at full uptier fighting this thing. It's not overtiered it just doesn't fit the meta, it's superior in every way to things like M-103, Conqueror and T-32E1 it would just stomp even at 8.0. They just need to decompress brs
Tanks without high pen heat-fs or Apfsds can barely even pen the Is-7 from the side. So nope it doesn't belong at 7.7. It's not like the maus that only got it's armor. The Is-7 is amazingly fast for a heavy tank and got a much better gun and reload then most.
Put all of the bushes you can on it and you'll see a drastic improvement of that things armor
