This was playing all over the DMV, Anacostia Park, Ft. DuPont, Hain's Pt. Mr. Melvin Lindsay WHUR Quiet Storm, the good ol' days.
DMV Stand Up!! WHUR 96.3 with the late great Melvin Lindsey!!
A WHUR Quiet Storm classic when Melvin Lindsey was the host. This and Chapter 8's " I Just want to be your Girl" featuring Anita Baker were game changers back in the day.
hey, does anyone remember when " quiet storm" played this cut and then follow that with " can't let go" by that group Parrish? that was the shit.
Jamming to this in 2021! True classic
My favorite Atlantic Starr song! We loved it in Washington DC! #QuietStorm #MelvinLindsey #WHUR
Yes, Smokey Robinson's intro: Quiet Storm let you know it was bout to go down.
What a ballad. This one really strikes a chord. I know their 80's material gets more love - and deservedly so - but their late 70's albums really get better with time, aging like fine wine.
It's doesn't get any better than this, its still the best song, ever created.
Sounds like the original quiet storm. 96.3. HUR. In Dee Cee. The genius behind the sound. Melvin Lindsay & Cathy Hughes👌🏿
The quiet storm was back in tha day that's wen this song came about pj porter if that ain't old school Idk wut is
This was and still is a great song. I saw a show back in the 80s in Washington D.C. at Warner theatre never forgot it and never will. I miss this group, hit after hit after hit. Thanks you Lewis Brothers great First Class Act. Blessings to you. Peace
Hur in DC would play this, Cant let go by Parris and then end it with Why Have I lost you by Cameo. Huh Man? Younginz today just dont know. Real Love, your feelings was real joe. Make a hard nukka cry.
LOL we must BOTH have been taping the Quiet Storm THAT night! i still have that cassette in my collection, with the songs in THAT order.
I haven’t been able to find ‘Cant let go” anywhere for download except on UA-cam. So many memories of PG County.
Such a classic...they don't make music like this anymore...smh.
From the sax to her voice. I melt every time. 🔥🔥🔥
This was the jam during my college days! I love this song! #WHURDays RIP Melvin Lindsey . #TheQuietStorm
That saxophone is heavenly
Every song they put out was a Hit. I love love this group. Every time I hear this song it makes me cry because it is Deep!! Thus Also reminds me of the clubs back in the day. I recently saw them this yr in Alexandria VA. They were Amazing and they haven't missed a beat❤❤
This is my favorite song they ever made.. Folks in the DMV just love it. Send for me is a close second.. Sang y'all
For sure. Send for Me is a classic. However, after this song my favorite Atlantic Starr slow jam is definitely "Am I Dreaming".
My brother Derek...Check out the new cd, and hit us on Fb, A.S. Fan Page, and tell us, what's ur favorite song on the cd?! 1 love, and God bless!
DC/Maryland smooth grooves and classic on WHUR 96.3 music to my ears!!
This was one of the best, I liked the first female lead singer.
If you grew up or were already grown during this time, you were blessed. If you did it in the DC area, you were especially blessed.✌
One of the first songs that I fell in love with when tuning in to WHUR as a teenager in '81.
Soul music just gets no better than this.
I miss this good music when I was a teenager laying back listening to whur slow jams.. Thanks
CLASSIC, just CLASSIC!! Finally, I can hear it again. Long time, 1979. I am satisfied now.
Loved this song back in the day. This man was serious. This is when a man knew how to touch your heart. Definitely a lost art.
A wonderful and great friend of mine, Mr. Kevin "Slow Jam" James would play this for us on Saturday night during the 'Quiet Storm' in DC/MD/VA! Miss you buddy, hope you're enjoying the west coast! Anthony
this is the one song that you sat and listened to the " quiet storm" every night because although they didn't play it every night, you didn't want to miss it when they did play it
.this one's for you Rhonda l. wherever you are.
One the greatest songs about the possibility of losing one good sister!!!!! I was a 20 something year old brother in the DMV in 1980! And, Melvin Lindsay was just about to make his move to 96.3 WHUR from 93.9 KISS. I surely miss those days, and I miss the DMV, Peace and many blessings to all my sisters and brothers that know what I am talking about!!!!!!
This one here - this jam, put Atlantic Starr on the map!! tI remember Kevin 'Slow-Jammin' James', on WHUR/96.3 playing this on regular!! I can almost remember the feeling I got when I first heard this song - it was like OMGosh - who was that?? I love this song !!I mean, talk about feeling - they sang the hell out of this...WISH A Starr - would do a concert here in the DC area..lot of people would come, that I know !!
XaQaRa EquinoX just left the Birchmere and A Starr did a wonderful show! Yes they hit this song too!
I remember oh so fondly! Kevin btw is now working and living on the West Coast
I was playing my cassette tapes, lol a week ago and this popped up and I couldn't find it. But dammit I'm determined and here we are....Yes this is a DMV Classic
My father just recently passed on 1/7/2021, his mother, my beloved grandmother passed just 4 mos earlier, I know it's a part of the cycle of life, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't hurt. I'll be getting up at 4am in NC to make the roadtrip to MS for his funeral services and to handle his business. My youngest sis & I will be ensuring he has a decent homecoming, he was a Marine, served in Vietnam, DC cop, worked as security at the steel mill in Indiana, owned a few night clubs, husband, father, son, brother, cousin & good friend to all those who knew him. He's gonna be thoroughly missed. RIP
L. Edward Avery

I am doing the same, it just takes me back to my mid teens when I was trying to figure out which road to take. Thankfully the Lord above pointed me in the right direction.
This JAM right here! Right here! I mean...straight up Blue Lights In The Basement house party type jams. The memories I have of those times...
NW Washington DC
Ahhhh!
Back in my Army days. Stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. June 1980-May 1983. Listening too Quiet Storm WHUR in Washington D.C.
Is that Sharon Bryant, singing female lead? Atlantic Starr was right up there with "Con Funk Shun" killing classic slow jams. Still Soul RnB today I listen too.

My favorite song of all TIME!!!!!! A genuine love song that will always be the best.
This is a true classic
I first heard it at "The Room" club in Washington DC, Maniac McCloud was the DJ! It was the bomb then! And it still is now!
This is a cold joint right here! "Awwwh, girl!" Lol
When I was a kid growing up in Rochester NY WDKX Radio played this all the time . Even local Bands at Block Party’s would play this jam. Classic
Just saw them at the Birchmere and they played this. Memories
Keep It Coming was thier first hit for me from the self titled album Atlantic Starr
You don’t hear music like this on the radio . I’m 63 years old I grew up listening to this beautiful r&b
Just for Me by Proux brought me here and I gotta say, ya I’m here for this 🤌
Love Love Love this song! Classic!
Atlantic Starr is one of the greatest groups!
A Mighty Man-King will give his all to rectify the change of his love for His Love
Essa melodia e de deixar qualquer um derrubado lembranças boas😢faz voltar aos anos 80
2022 still 🌹 DC WHUR
I discovered this song back when I moved to the DMV in the early 2000s. They loved it on WHUR ... and up to that point I had thought of myself as being a pretty devoted Atlantic Starr fan lol. This is easily their best ballad, and it was the best cut on that second LP they did.
❤❤❤2022 Birchmere ...RIP Melvin Lindsey🌹
Soft and warm the Majic 108 Quiet Storm, oh bad, I was thinking back to when jams like this ran and ruled the nighttime air waves! Peace!
Just for Me - Proux
Shout out to that sample, brought me here
The creator Quiet storm Melvin Lindsay, played this before Kevin slow jamming James was in the picture.. James carried it on..

Just Wowww!!!
I soooo love ole skool RnB....
I love this song! #CollegeDays
Kandee...Indeed this song definitely takes me too, back to my wonderful college days in late 70's. Great ballad by AS, one of my favorite R & B groups. I still have this precious original LP and there 1st 4 LP's in individual protective plastic album covers. Great start for a very young Atlantic Starr team. "Keep it coming" was the early hit played on the airwaves in my central Illinois from this LP. Still Enjoying it!
Nada melhor do que ouvir um lindo e raro classico como este.
So quem conhece realmente black music do otima qualidade.
My daughter brought me here. Reminded me of this Atlantic Starr classic...🎶
I Loved Melvin Lindsay. Quiet storm WHUR 96.3
I remember going to an Atlantic Starr concert, and the crowd started chanting "Losing You." Atlantic Starr still didn't perform the song. My girlfriends and I only went to the concert for them to perform this song. I guess Atlantic Starr was unaware of how popular this song was, and still is, in the DMV. You best believe that the next time Atlantic Starr came back to DC, this song was on the list to perform 🎵🎶🎷! Only one Quiet Storm - WHUR
Beautiful song
Listening to this with your girl down Hains Point (West Potomac Park) asking her to forgive you for being stupid! Man, what a song!❤️💕😘
I love this song it makes me think, when you wrong or right
In the beginning, the horns, oh my goodness the horns!!
The ‘60👎🏿’ quite obviously are folk who 1.) haven’t got a clue! 2.) Need to seriously get a clue! Hell if it still doesn’t/hasn’t REGISTERED then go buy a vowel😏!! This is MUSIC 🎶🎼🎵🎤 as in ‘the real deal’.
Love this song!!
Whur the progressive sound. When I was in the Army I would go home and make go go and slow tapes. This was a song on my slow tape then I would have the image of you.
Talking on the phone with that long ass cord so you can lay in the bed, then you're just about to fall asleep with a "woody" then your mom's picks up & says " hang up this damn phone, you got school in the morning, plus you ain't paying no damn bills" lol.
Chevey Chevelle Lady Chevey now what do you know bout grown folk music? Mwah
Mr. Avery ☺️ Watch your mouth now, you're speaking to a 1977 baby, yes! I remember being at Grambling State in 1994 listening to this as I snuck & used my hot plate to make chicken stew & sell a plastic cup full for 50cents to other students!😂😂 Those were the days Mr....
A gem
