I do not think you are factoring in how common and important the image of Jesus baring his heart is in the catholic tradition. When Jesus bears his heart it does not mean he has lost his compassion for the world, quite the opposite. If you think this depiction somehow deviates from the Christ of the Gospels I would refer you to Jesus’ description of the apostles mission in the 10th chapter of Mathew, particularly verse 34 where He says He has come to bring a sword to the world

I think this story is a much more believable take on Jesus. More believable as a man. In any case we don’t even really know for sure how these events played out. The scriptures have been rewritten and re edited so many times who knows what actually happened.
