We use a handheld torch to burn the trapped hairs and an air compressor to blow them and the nits out. It's very fast.

I get dust inside my comb. I think I have a lot of dust in my nit comb, because I haven't been washing my hair much since I bleached my hair (making hair blonde makes it very dry; it just seems to suck up all the oil from your own skin). I don't have lice or nits or anything; I just like to use the combs so I don't have to sweep my floors as often, and before I step into my bathtub to prevent my drain from getting clogged with as many hairs. These fine-toothed combs take out more exogen hairs than regular brushes. Anyway, the grey dust collects near the where the tines meet the base. Would barbacide get rid of them? I'm guessing soaking in Nair would break down the keratin of hair, and maybe the exoskeleton of some insects, but those aren't what I'm trying to get out of my comb. I can easily remove my long hairs from the comb using my fingers.
