- My 1969 LOTUS EUROPA is finally getting all my attention. Purchased as a non running car on eBay, this old Lotus hadn't been driven or ran at all since 2006 or so. It's taken a while for me to get to this car, but I'm really glad to share this with you guys. A new aluminum radiator, repaired swirl pot, new fuel pump, and a few other things were not shown in this video.
It was a big relief when this engine fired up and sounded really smooth. This is a light restoration being that the majority of the car is in pretty good condition. Thanks for watching!

Good to see ya back, sweet hearing the Europa fire up - nice one !
Hello
You are back to the Europa, great, looking forward to see more about this amazing car, especially when driving on curves, you really get the Formula Ford feeling from the 60s. Have fun and drive the stuff.
Nice to see you back! For sure…update on the Jolly Green Targa! 😀👍👍
Hey Michael, keep up the videos, and that "down to earth" approach on working! Even though it gets tuff figuring things out, we are with you there; "it's a adventure"! Hang in there😊👍
Love the long form videos !!
Great to see you back!
Hey Jim! Hope you're doing great my friend. Always good to hear from you.
Hi Michael
Great to hear the Lotus running.
Good work 👍
Thanks for the update😉
Great to see the Lotus again. Thought you’d sold the Europa. Look forward to more Lotus content. What a cool looking car it is.
I have been waiting for this
Nothing like hearing it start up-well done. On my 69 Elan I have to crank the starter for 2-3 seconds to fill the carbs, then half choke and 3-4 pumps of the throttle then it fires right up. I have 45DCOE Webers which I believe was the carb for your car but are a bit big for mine(originally 40DCOE) even with 1700cc. Such a cool car you have, esp if you could find the bits for the Gordini upgrade-I think they were as quick as the twin cam Elans of the time. Looking forward to follow up videos-cheers.
Yo you've turned into a helluva wrench!! Love it!
@@deanallen191 thanks bro!
I've wanted the JPS version since 1973. I guess at this rate it's just a pipe dream but this is great to see. More of these need a new life.
Now the engine sounds like it does ! It's the same basis as on the A110, a Renault 16 engine.
More Lotus please Michael. I'm pretty sure that is the crossflow head/ crossflow engine version of the Renault 16 engine. So the better more desirable, slightly more powerful (80hp) one.
@@timmo2424 it is the wedge head, which came with this car. Wish it was the cross flow
wow. that needs a lot of work. engine sounds good to me!
Did you source new points for the distributor cap?
Once you drive it on back roads you will see it in a whole new light.
so fuckin cool maaan! love ypur youtube vids! :)
wow. that needs a lot of work. engine sounds good to me!
