I read you could emboss the two sheets along with your ink stamp. In notary best practices. That way the emboss will meet up perfectly on both pages making it nearly impossible to recreate. You can even note in the journal that you embossed the original and the attachment.
Stapling loose certificates is mandatory when taking care of documents that will receive an apostille. I am in California so we are the exception. I staple all general notary work. Loan documents I am about 50/50 depending on if I need to scanback.
I was just trying to figure this one out! Thank you for this
I appreciate all the wisdom and knowledge that you share. You've been helpful to me as a new notary.

In Missouri we are required to staple. However, I don’t do it in loan signing due to scan backs. But maybe it should be done in loan signings.
In "some" government/legal spaces (based on my professional experience) stapling documents alters the original document.
I never staple any of my loan docs!!! I use paper clips and binder clips.
I dont staple anything but I do add it to general notary that does not have notary wording and to loan documents that are not from my state.
New York requires that the jurat/acknowledgement should be “attached” on the right of the documents…… that doesn’t make no sense
What part makes no sense. That Virginia doesn't have to physically staple a certificate to the document?
VA's state handbook is so vague. It's kind of obnoxious.
Do you have an electronic or hard copy of The Notary Answer Book?
Electronic. Got it from nna
I’m in California and I never stapled either. I just make sure all is completed
You mean people have to actually read effectively and dont just be spreading information on Facebook lol
