@Jean-Guy Malenfant don't expect it to look as good as a TV. It's pretty blurry compared to a 4K TV, with a grainy look due to the mura effect from the pixels not all shining at the exact same intensity, because it's an OLED screen your zoomed in on. And you only see 2K maximum. So, as one should expect, visual quality is not as good as a TV. Don't expect it to look nearly as sharp. The graphics quality is great though. It's pretty much the same graphical fidelity as on flat screen. But just shown on a lower resolution screen. Very immersive. The grainy look and lower resolution is definitely worth it for being in the car. It's a completely different experience.

It's funny how for Steve the depth of the corner was a thing he struggled with in VR compared to flatscreen. I started simracing around 2 years ago, 4 months ago I bought myself a quest 2. And better judgement of distance and speed is the best thing that happened to me due to switching to VR. I can finally judge the speed, distance and angle accurately, making it possible for me to be faster and actually drive safer. On flatscreen it's very difficult for me to stay fully aware and judge my speed going into corners. I was finally able to go around stages in Dirt Rally 2.0 reliably after switching to vr. So yeah, not discrediting anyone's experience or anything, it's just interesting to me how it seems it's drastically different from one person to another.
Considering theres a little chance for Gran Turismo to add a crew/engineer that helps inform the driver, I guess that HUD is a good compromise. But it can also be cool if Gran turismo would give an option to hide it or assign a hotkey to enable or disable the HUD.
it looks faster now with VR and I definitely like it a lot. Only thing I would change is your camera placement. I would use top left corner now as there is no list of players in this view. It's current positioning is hiding left rear mirror. Anyway nice content and I hope you will get used to it soon so its not hurting your lap times and competetivity.
@@sivymrak9310 ohh I didn’t even pay attention to that lol I always look at what they’re seeing so I thought you meant the hud which is super distracting.
@@dbzcollector9963 yea in-game placement of HUD is pretty bad I would say. There is plenty of space at the top of the screen and there is only a black roof. Definitely a place where I would put it but hey, I am not a developer or game tester :)
First time VR user here, and new to the Fanatec DD family. The Sim rig and VR2 combo are absolutely perfect. Some blurred portions happen and different times but it's usually not have the unit in the sweet spot. Try the super formula cars, unbelievable.
Obviously I don't know how difficult it would be, but it would be nice if they could add something like they have in the EA/Codemaster games like Grid or F1 where you can get updates over your radio from your engineer in the pits. Obviously its tougher as the left/right direction buttons are assigned to the onscreen menu, but am sure Polyphony could come up with something. Hell, if not interative, just the odd radio message that comes out through the controller speaker would be fine.
I think this is the future of sim racing. Of course GT7 isn't the first VR sim, but it is the first that offers such a high quality experience priced for the mass market -- and the gameplay footage is SO much more engaging.
Absoutely excellent real review! yes there are differances like the times on the left but like you said @Super GT that is more realistic and you have to drive more on instinct rather than data on the screen, like the real world. For me I found the depth in VR easier to judge corners, with my second lap on race B I shaved a second off my best time. I love it. Keep up the great content! Thanks.
Mr. Super GT sir, You look much smoother, like you're not overdriving the car so much. I suspect with more time-in-helmet you will become faster than on the screen.
That was really fun. The full emersion of VR makes you really feel like you're inside the car. Also the Italian guy that kept dive bombing you, sheesh 🙄
@super Gt thanks for the answers about "Is VR slower". I daresay, it *seemed* like your pulse was pounding much harder in the key moments of these VR races than compared to your usual flat game experience. And that *thrill* surely is worth something. But at the end of the day, because VR is slower AND VR is more exhausting, does it mean you will ultimately feel compelled to go back to flat gaming to be competitive and run more races per day? Do you think the rank table display really makes that much of a difference for driving strategy? or do you think its because you are stuck to incar view and you cant see cars that are creeping up on your side? What if anything do you think would need to change in GT to make VR be competitive with flat (albeit with more exhaustion from the experience in trade)? Could you consider doing a VR race and then taking off the headset and doing the same race in flat and then summarize your impressions from a "competitive racing" position? Finally, Do you think VR will make you a better real world racer? Thanks
He's not necessarily slower, he just has to get acclimated with it, to become comfortable as he was without it, once that happens hell be right back to where he was. My issue so far with the VR is how it tends to not give full range motion your head can move while in cockpit view. Things seem to get weird when they try to look or throw an eye to the opposite mirror things get very weird.
@@thekornrole As someone who has been doing VR for a while now in iRacing and does track days: yes, it absolutely does. It's essentially practice, it makes sim racing so similar to the real thing that it eventually serves as practice.
@@thekornroleeven without VR I have avoided crashes IRL that previous to simracing I would have rammed right through. It’s at the point now where sim racing is like getting into a fresh car. It’s the same but it’s not, all the core elements remain you just have to do them differently, sim racing also gives you thousands of different cars to drive, training your brain to know what things will be different and how to combat the issue even without having driven the car yet. Then there’s the IRL to sim similarities in setups, softer suspension will yield moderately better grip, but the grip goes byebye the moment everything bottoms out, it’s the same in my 31 year old 4wd as it is in a simulated F1 car as it is in pcars2 when the glitches stay away. Some companies have even integrated simulator rig gear into a real car for testing. Even if that never directly makes It to market, the trickle down into current tech fly by wire steering will turn it from a return to centre with maybe some feedback but mostly signal drop aways to actually safe. And improve how the FFB generates within their own hardware for simulation use.
I could see how it would benefit someone who never ever drove a car and someone who wants to learn a track layout but feeling the gforce as the bumps and your tire grip is a whole nother thing. But I guess there could be a learning effect.
in iRacing I have the virtual mirror just above my eye line. VR reduces the benefit of peripheral vision so the simulator really needs to provide some feature to compensate. Situational awareness in a car is required. The radar off to the side and even the mirror is just not somewhere you can readily see while you're looking where you're driving.
Really makes me want to invest in this set up. Already have a PS5. Would just need the VR and wheel. Would be sweet if they have a VR motorcycle sim. I'll be all on board instantly.
if l may offer that the DualSense is very capable as standalone in MotionControl mode- its almost like having a small wheel in hand- its very good l must say 23feb2023.dellthecomputer
With VR on the rise, GT need to invest in audio feedback. For example pit crew voices to provide feedback on if cars are left, right, delta of those around you and when cars come within 1second of you, and when car x&y in the pits. You should be able to adjust how chatty you want them too. Else it seems quite unstable with the lack of feedback and for you to go no HUD.
Completely different experience both as a driver and even a spectator. You can *feel* the cars behind you even just watching the VR replay. Really relays your angst and anxiety watching the Beetle or GTR slowly creep up with the constant panning over to the rear view mirror.
10 minutes before I discovered this video of you (being my favorite GT racer on UA-cam) I was thinking about how awesome it would be to have VR for GT and a good chair + a good wheel... Crazy. Anyhow keep up the good work, love (almost, slow cars are slow cars) all of your content. Keep up the work legend! Soon I'll be able to Sub and Support and I will!
Remember, you have trained your eyes/brain to gauge distance on a flat screen. So it will take a while to get the brain to feel like it is inside a real car.
It's great so see how well the foveated rendering seems to work VR tech is really evolving now I hope the consoles can push the tech a little. I always think that on PCs, which already feels like a niche now, really only some hard core people have VR for sims.
Lots of fun to watch. It's a little bouncy compared to screen views because of your head movement. I suggest moving the insets of your body and feet to the upper left or right so our view of the side mirror is not blocked.

For now this channel be My favorite channel,, SUPER GT IS ABSOLUTY AWASOME in review,,
sc: trust me bro
I'm so happy that you are able to race in full online lobbies in VR now! GT Sport on PSVR 1 was only limited to 1v1 vs Ai!
You should do t shirt merch, the first one starting off as “ the shadow realm “
**visible frustration**
The way you’re narrating this while you talking in the background feels like National Geographic special featuring SuperGT
Go full VR, man. I can feel the action more as a viewer. Really fun to watch!
What an awesome view you definitely should try with no HUD. The commentary from both live and after is really entertaining.
Gran Turismo Sport and 7's respective VR systems are absolutely top notch.
Sport is garbage lol
I think this is the future of sim racing. Of course GT7 isn't the first VR sim, but it is the first that offers such a high quality experience priced for the mass market -- and the gameplay footage is SO much more engaging.
Love the cockpit view, and the commentary style is great!
Thanks.
More vr content please
8:21 Nice move 🔥yeah I definitely need to get the VR experience
This gamemode renders the game in a way that gives me quite the "GT5 splitscreen graphics on my friends 17" TV" vibes and i'm loving it.
Really enjoying the voice over while you play and occasionally talk, some good races man!
Mr. Super GT sir, You look much smoother, like you're not overdriving the car so much.
I suspect with more time-in-helmet you will become faster than on the screen.
Man, this looks absolutely amazing for VR. Definitely need to save up to get.
This is intense, totally different experience!
That was really fun. The full emersion of VR makes you really feel like you're inside the car. Also the Italian guy that kept dive bombing you, sheesh 🙄
Also Steve's hand raise as if he was in an actual car gesturing someone cutting him up IRL lol
Things seem to get weird when they try to look or throw an eye to the opposite mirror things get very weird.
love the mix of real time and added commentary
What is great about VR is that it actually makes you a better driver in real life.
No it doesn't 😀?? Explain how
@@thekornrole As someone who has been doing VR for a while now in iRacing and does track days: yes, it absolutely does.
Got my psVR today. Wow. It is incredible. Totally worth the price. I only hope they continue to support the product.
This might be the most excited i've heard Steve since he got the exhaust swap on his M2.
in iRacing I have the virtual mirror just above my eye line. VR reduces the benefit of peripheral vision so the simulator really needs to provide some feature to compensate. Situational awareness in a car is required. The radar off to the side and even the mirror is just not somewhere you can readily see while you're looking where you're driving.
so much more exciting to watch
Really makes me want to invest in this set up. Already have a PS5. Would just need the VR and wheel. Would be sweet if they have a VR motorcycle sim. I'll be all on board instantly.
if l may offer that the DualSense is very capable as standalone in MotionControl mode- its almost like having a small wheel in hand- its very good l must say

That maneuver against the Porsche was a thing of beauty...
Your videos never fail to entertain! Nice video mate :)
Looks like VR really amps up the intensity.
Being slower could also be due to cockpit view vs your regular view? Looks sick though!
I may not be the first to say it, but I like your new room. It's brighter and much more spacious than your old "bedroom."
Wearing VR with headphone on would be hell of an experience!
Remember, you have trained your eyes/brain to gauge distance on a flat screen. So it will take a while to get the brain to feel like it is inside a real car.
The VR Experience really bringes something new. Also to the content :)
It's great so see how well the foveated rendering seems to work
VR tech is really evolving now
I hope the consoles can push the tech a little. I always think that on PCs, which already feels like a niche now, really only some hard core people have VR for sims.
SRT Tomahawks In VR would be a really interesting idea…
Love your vids Steve👊🏻😎
Lots of fun to watch. It's a little bouncy compared to screen views because of your head movement. I suggest moving the insets of your body and feet to the upper left or right so our view of the side mirror is not blocked.
