Could you just dye cotton balls first by dipping them into the cups with the color and letting them dry a bit and fluff out and then put them in the plastic ball?

APL Reading Rocks... can u use any kind of color If u wanted to make it lighter? If I was to use light color would it still be as blended and pretty as the one you did? It is very pretty
