Don't understand why anyone could dislike this video for the life of me. This brings brings back some really good memories of my bike trips around Scotland and apart from the weather it's a much better place than France and Spain 👍😎
Thanks Richard. I guess the dislikes come from folks not expecting a bike video? Who knows. I make these for myself and I enjoy making them. If others like them too then that's great.
There had been the biggest heat wave since 76 just before I got there, which ended immediately when I picked up the bike! Still, wasn't as bad as I feared it could have been. Hope you still had fun regardless of weather
Great scenery! 😃😄😇 Other drivers & riders are kind and have nice manners, too! Great job on editing, and as always, Grade A+ to your choice of music!!👍👍
Wow, thanks. I always want to go back and change some stuff (too much ferry footage in this one) but once it's on UA-cam it's done, can't change it anymore. I think I did catch the change over to 30k but it was among trees/bushes, so not very dramatic.
Hello Ian, I have loved watching your video specially the name of every place helped me google and see how far it is from my place. I have a small question. Where did you stay over night? was it camping. If it is then how was the toilest?
Hi RK. I'm glad the video is helpful. I have family in Inverness and I actually returned there each night for free accomodation! I've never camped in Scotland so have no knowledge about the toilets. Sorry
I'm doing the 500 at the end of April, all my accommodations have been booked, has anyone got any do's and don'ts. I can't wait to get on my steed and head north. I loved the photography In you film.
If you have the time then branch off the official route to see other places. I skipped John'O'Groats as that bit is supposed to be pretty boring, and the little back road I took instead was fantastic. If you are riding up there then go via Glencoe. One of my all time favorite places.
@@yagian, thanks for the info. I'm starting in Erskine upto Ullapool via Glencoe, then carrying on clockwise round to Inverness, then onto Carlisle. From door to door nearly 1600 miles. Where are you from Mr B.
I'm born and raised in Johnstone but live in America now. My sister moved to Ullapool in the 70's so I spent many a "summer" holiday up there. Was great to go back and see the place from a bike.
Did my version of NC 500 in a convertible 3 years ago. Now i want to do it on the bike. Thinking, is a Honda Goldwing a bit big to do this. I am not feeling that confident???
If you're comfortable riding the GW then you will have no problem. The smallest road is one lane with plenty of passing places. Maybe be cautious on the 2 hairpins on Belach na Ba if you're a bit wobbly, but other than that I say go for it!
@@bobnicholson9821 Then I'm sure you will be fine. My mate has a wing and he throws it around like a sport bike and even takes it down forest roads. He is bit mad though.
Great Camera work and a great video, what is the Camera on the Bars? loving the Gyroscopic Video sections. We are going in May riding the NC500 Anticlockwise,a total of 1600+ miles.
I went clockwise though I'm not sure it makes much difference. I guess it depends on whether you want to go down or up the Balach na Ba. Hope you have a great time and sunny weather next week!!
It really only took the first 3 days to do the route. The 4th day I was planning to do a loop round the Cairngorms but it was dumping with rain that day so I headed west to the driest bit which was ironically Skye (not often you can say that about Skye). But that turned out great as I loved Plockton (no video there as I forgot to turn it on!) and then that little ferry to get off of Skye. I had considered heading to the northern part of Skye but had to return the bike that day so didn't have enough time. On the 3rd day I avoided going to John'O'Groats as that didn't appeal to me but my little shortcut across the one lane remote road was my favorite bit of the trip. Look for Kildonan train station and then head south. Hope you have a great trip!
My helmet cam is a Contour which is no longer available. Easy to use but years out of date now and I've just replaced it with a Sony FXR-3000. Much better camera but more fiddly to use. The other camera is a Rylo which captures 360º video and allows you pan around in the editing process.
Been on these roads many times...GREAT video .....thanks for sharing....stay safe...ride safe !!!

Great film and really nice use of the 360 camera. Looks like you had better weather than us when we were there May 19.

@@yagian yep had a great time, 4 nights in the Fort William area then 3 nights based in Ullapool. Love that road Ullapool up to Durness.
Totally agree, great editing of the 360 footage. I did the NC500 last year and going back in June and taking my brother this time.
Really good and well shot video, can't wait to do my tour when all this is over
Thanks. Yeah, this pandemic is playing havoc with bike trips :(

Amazing looking trip- thx for sharing.
Nice camera work and drone! Hope you enjoyed your trip
Thanks!
Done this solo in September it was jaw dropping...will do it again next year...great video
Quality journey mate enjoyed it, excellent sound tracks 👍
Loved it . Although I live in dunoon I've never done this ride out . Next year is my time to do it .
waaugh !!!
you did a perfect video.. loved it !!
greetings from Denmark
Thanks!
Did the NC500 in June last year, brought back happy memories.Cheers !!
What a nice ride
If you've never been then get yourself to Lewis/Harris, Scottish Caribbean, minus the weather of course. The beaches of Harris are just amazing 😍
One of the best NC500 vids out there. How come you didnt vid the 30 k mark?
Wow, thanks. I always want to go back and change some stuff (too much ferry footage in this one) but once it's on UA-cam it's done, can't change it anymore.

Did this run last year and i wished i'd had a video camera...great capture...
Nice video and phenomenal soundtrack ... can you let me in on the songs? I swore there’s a Close Lobsters song somewhere in there.
First two songs are by King Creosote and last one by Runrig. If you click "Show More" UA-cam knows all the details :D
Durness is simply stunning ♥️
I know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Andres Drake lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Andres Drake i would suggest Flixzone. You can find it on google :)

Thanks! The camera is a Rylo 360 (www.rylo.com) Lets you add some variety to the type of shots you get
My husband would love to Walk the north coast 500
Excellent video, camerawork and editing. Lovely job. The handlebar camera stand; is that a generic thing or particular make/model, please? Atb.
It’s a RAM Claw mount with an extension. I used various size extensions but generally smaller is better as they wobble less
It was a ram claw mount with an extension. This is the mount I think. Easy to take on/off bikes.

Great video, just to clarify you rode a part of the route each day from a base in Inverness?
Thanks. Yes, started and finished each day in Inverness. Route I took is in the video comments above.
