Thank you for celebrating Raksha Bandhan which signifies brotherhood and we thank the city officials and police for their services and protection.
Great job that Hindu Americans spoke up. There are thousands of incredible, humble people, that could have spoken. Thousands are angry and upset by the anti-hindu hate and identity based targeting, but they are so peaceful and non-confrontational. It is disgusting that people want to hurt and harm such a community in Troy, that generally minds to itself, except for commendable community service to folks of all religions. Hindu students in Troy, earn the best grades. Much like their parents, they put their heads down and work hard. Doctors, automotive engineers, essential workers -- they all contribute so well. even the Hindu politicians in this area are so main stream, focusing on ALL people, never putting Hindus before anyone else. A lot of community leaders are not like that. These are the super reliable, super honorable, people. Many hindus dont even like hurting ants. Their faith makes them see God in every living being, which is why so many are strict vegetarians and eco-friendly. But these anti-Hindu forces, now are insisting that they inspired Hitler. They are saying the mosque massacre in New Zealand was actually a Hindu (COMPLETE lies). They say Gandhi was Hitlers ally, but in the same breadth say Hindus killed Gandhi and they shouldn't have because "gandhi was all about peace and non-violence". How can the same person say Gandhi was about non-violence and also say he was Hitler's ally? Anyway -- I sincerely hope the anti-Hindu attacks stop. These people shouldn't have to do this. They shouldn't have to defend themselves, or think twice before saying they are Hindu. They've done nothing wrong, and these are not the people to eradicate. Hinduism has brought the world Yoga, which doctors recommend. It's culture that America appreciates.
In the last city council meeting a lot of hatred was spewed towards Hindu community. The speakers seemed to be either illiterate or misinformed or perhaps spoke with an ulterior motive of defaming and maligning the Hindu community. It was really sad. But a big ‘thank you’ to the members of the Hindu American community for speaking up and for speaking the truth. It is true that Hinduism is a religion of peace that promotes virtues of compassion, patience and forbearance. We should not have to vouch for our integrity because it is a well known fact that whichever part of the globe we move to, we work hard to assimilate, to adapt, to adopt and to give back to the community that we moved into and that we call our home now.
First meeting I’ve watched after joining this community a few years ago and thanks to all the negative publicity I discovered this channel. A few positive outcomes in my eyes amongst all the bad, I plan to be more in tuned to what’s going on in my community and I learned some information about a culture my neighbors and coworkers share. Good proactive rebuttal! Ignoring the nasty demonstration of insensitivity against Hindus and Hindutva in the previous meeting is an eye-opener, demanding ongoing vigilance for trouble-making lobbies! It was disturbing to note some bodies claiming to be Indians participating in such nefarious designs! After quick general research on the web, many were not from Troy (at least Pieter Freiderich and Vijayalaxmi Nadar) and have been delivering the same venom coast to coast obviously done with funding for a paid job to deliver nasty activities like denigrating the most peaceful and inclusive Dharma (loosely translated as Religion which considers the entire universe to be thought about for Shanti: Peace).
