Yes, Wode Maya has a “food foot”, growing up we had a cousin nicknamed food foot, because he was always showing up on his bicycle just when the food is ready to get dished out, hehe. Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey would love to see this unity of Africans uniting with Jamaicans. We wash our rice to get rid of any undesirable substance in it.

I noticed that Wode Maya didn't explain why Africans use their right hand for eating instead of their left, which actually has a very important reason. It would be amazing if Colaz and his team could come to Africa to learn more about our culture and people. There is so much to discover here in the motherland, and I hope they, together with other Jamaicans, can also visit my home country Kenya, the Cradle of Mankind. I wash until the water is clear to remove most of the starch because I'm diabetic. Some people wash once. Rice is cleaned before it's packaged but we still wash it, because that's our practice.
Maya, I disagree with you. Rice should always be washed before cooking. There are a lot of impurities in that rice. It's has come in contact with several foreign bodies. 😮

The main reason we wash rice is to get rid of some of the starch. Starchy rice can lead to a soft mushy rice. Jasmine rice does not have a lot of starch so technically you really don't need to wash it. However, us Jamaicans normally wash our rice.

Also it will make it easy to bring up supplies instead of going around JBud House or Miss Little Hot Kitchen. Always need to make your job a lot easier for your workers. They will be so tired from climbing the hill with heavy loads and equipment.
