This game looks great and I think it's a great idea my only quarrel would be that it looks too tile-y. If the ground was more smoothed out and those edges on the textures were removed I think it'd look a whole lot better.
The concept of this game looks pretty good, but I'm worried that in terms of content it doesn't have more than ARK:SE, and most of the differences I can see seem to be mythical creatures. This would be the perfect game to have many more dino species in, but I'm not seeing significant differences in the number of species.
I have a PC which cost about 600, with a 180$ graphics card, and Ark runs pretty well in my opinion on it. It's a quad core with 8 gigs of ram and the card is a NVIDIA GTX 950
Breakaway 70 A decent GPU alone is $800-1200. And then you have to account for ram which will run you $150-$200, and a motherboard/processor which is around $300. And that’s for a mid range PC.
I honestly want to see more, just to see how good the taming is, and if they have solved a lot of the problems Ark has, like the food situation is a bit much, and is too much of a hassle to take care of every animal you have. I also just looked up who is making it, and it is made by Snail Games, who, to my understanding, own Wild Card, the makers of Ark. Ark looks nice on paper, but is really not well thought out, and doesn't actually pay attention to people who play the game. I suddenly don't know how much I trust this game....
Yeah this seems like something that is going to be DMCA'd pretty quickly if they havent gotten permission from Studio Wildcard. Even the name referencing ARK could be disputed through DMCA'd (see the Fallout Fortress dilemma). It looks decently fun so I hope they have have talked to them but you never know these days
I hope they have asked and received permission. However, I don't think it would matter in the slightest. Ark never did anything unique. It just put it's own spin on concepts other, before them, came up with. Taming? done before. Dinos? done before. Multiplayer? done..... you get the picture. Even the name. PixARK. Is partly a nod to Ark. From what I've heard of copyright infringing the 'copy' needs to be sufficiently different. Or insufficiently different. I've not seen any minotaurs or cyclops in Ark. Of course, that isn't going to stop fan boi's from crying over it if they didn't ask for permission. LMAO... Almost makes me hope they didn't ask.
Fallout Fortress had literally nothing to do with the Fallout series outside of the fact that Bethesda was planning to release a mobile Fallout game. Didnt stop Captain Sparkles from getting DMCA'd which he tried to dispute and lost. As someone who has dealt with DMCAs over parody content on multiple occasions DMCA laws are a bunch of slippery slopes and you never know what the outcome will be
Yeah, but in that case the FF's devs caved and did not fight. The games were not even remotely similar but Beth attacked over trademark. FF's own legal team advised them that the best solution in the long run was to roll over and change the name. At least from what I've read. But from what @Pumpkin_Masher says it isn't even an issue here. Thanks PM for the info.
