Very cool Jay! Growing up in Maine these were very popular. Matter of fact it was one of our shop class projects, along with the lobster trap coffee table, Lol.
Thanks my friend! You just saved mr $17.99 !! I made mine from scrap red oak and it came out better than the one that sells for $17.99. I never even thought of making one until i saw this video! Thanks and great video !!!!
***** Born and raised in Michigan so I'm a northerner at heart but these boots are the best thing that I have ever put on my feet! I made the dining table. The chairs were given to use a few years ago. I'm wanting to ditch this dining table and make a new one to match my halflap dining chair video
I finally bought my first pair of cowboy boots recently. It's a chore to get them off. Really glad I watched this. Thanks! Oh wait... maybe I'm thinking about getting them on. Still going to make it though :)
Your a baver man then me Jay. I fi went inside and started jigsawing wood on the dining room table i would be in the dog house for a while. Great video and will be good for taking the muddy boots off at the door.
Nice idea, but for many guys it will be easier to get a shop full of tools than to find a wife who allows sawdust in the kitchen... You are lucky to have both!
No that's a bad idea. I wouldn't want to step on that board with only socks on, after having just stepped on it with wet boots. I like your channel though.
hello Jay, here is my first video of working in my apartment making rustic painting frames with a Rockwell bladerunner. I also just finished converting a inflatable boat into a sailboat working in my apartment and will be posting a lot more apartment shop videos soon. ua-cam.com/video/d5zgnPA2wFo/v-deo.html
yep they work good nice video. I have an old one made of plastic. If it breaks I'll make a new one. I still like Justin boots I've bought them when I was 17 yrs. old. Thanks Jay Roland
Brother you must have one heck of a cool wife to let you do that on the table! That said its nice to see simple, useful projects now and then. Nice video as always.
Man, from the cover picture I thought this was going to be some kind of kick-jack, like for hanging drywall. It was all making sense until you started cutting that big hole in the middle, then I was totally lost. Another cool project, but I think you could have used pocket screws for that middle piece.
I live in an apartment and I wish I could have a workshop to make my gadgets. Instead of a dining room table I suggest using your kitchen sink , just lay a piece of scrap plywood over.
Thanks to credit cards and malls, no Jay's were harmed in the making of this production. Would of been funny if you had used a kitchen knife even if only as a spoof. Great video, been enjoying all that I've seen so far. Oh, I did get the moral of the video, just thought it was funny you did it in the house and lived.
Jay I luv ur videos, great work and ideas, I didn't know what a boot jack was but after watchin u make it I said damn that's a great idea, thanks alot.---Al
awesome video!!! i always have trouble getting my work boots off. this is great def making one!!!! my wife would kill me if i made it in the house though lol
I've never actually seen something like this before, very neat. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that your wife was NOT home when you did this? lol. Seriously though, very good video, well done :)
Very cool. Music was good, too. I thought the final scene would be this: you are feverishly vacuuming and putting all your tools away seconds before your wife walks through the door. She asks, "Been home long, honey?" You say, "No, I just walked in."
Really wouldn't work if you put your sock feet in the wood ! You need to get the sock feet over some sandals then on the board to get the next boot of! Other wise it's gonna be a dirty sock right there ;-)
1st. That is one sorry ass square to use. 2nd. My wife will f@kn flip if I cut wood on our dinning table. 3rd. It honestly took me a while (actually the whole video) to figure out what the hek you made there. But like a lot of build videos I'll never use, any woodworking is good in my book. I have a video with my dog in the background too =P
You are right you don't need all that to be able to make something, we have the shops to keep our marriages. Trust me young sir, build your wife a China cabinet in the living room and you will NOT return the rewards like if you would've kept the dust in the shop, if you get my drift. ;-) Good job all the same!
I have to laugh at your workbench two times inmy life I used a plastic patio table as a workbench to breakdown sheet goods once at my Aunts house and once at my own both cases I hit the table with my circular saw everytime I went to my Aunts house for a barbecue she made me sit at that spot my table I brought to my old shop and put it on the loading dock for guys to play cards on at break times btw they were both resin tables and I went into them with a thinker blade onmy WormDrive Skil Saw honestly I felt no resistance ? It was pure Stupidity
Great idea, but you just reminded me of the good 'ole days when the "little woman" would kneel in front of you and lovingly pull each boot. Just joking....
Wonderful! I'm a born and bred Texas girl and I have never seen one of these. I love it as well as the video. Great job Jay.
Thanks April. My wife sent me a picture of one while in a boot store in Memphis. Inspiration is everywhere!
Nice... :)

Always good to have a couple of helpers nearby who are willing to lend a paw.
Nice table! Nice dog and cat, too. And nice bootjack!
Everyone wishes they could do woodworking in the living room! Well, except their family members. A tight and smart video. Thanks.
Ha! Luckily my wife wasn't home.
You are a brave man to do that in the dining room. Loved the project. Thanks for sharing.
NICE RULER!
Thanks!
There's so much that can be said about simplicity. The problem - the more you say the more complicated simplicity becomes. Nice easy project.
Simple = awesome. Thanks for watching Doug.
Here's an easy project that will get a lot of use in my home. Article here: jayscustomcreations.com/2014/03/make-a-boot-jack/
Nice way of showing how you can make it work with what you have.
***** Born and raised in Michigan so I'm a northerner at heart but these boots are the best thing that I have ever put on my feet! I made the dining table. The chairs were given to use a few years ago. I'm wanting to ditch this dining table and make a new one to match my halflap dining chair video
Great video Jay Bates! I had several when I was in the Army. After a long hard day, a boot jack is a wonderful way to "let the dogs out." ;-)
***** these are Tony Lama boots.
Oh, and I used 100% pocket holes on the table.
Thanks for posting that. You just pick this years father's day gift
Woodworking has no limits! Be brave my friend!
Nice idea, but for many guys it will be easier to get a shop full of tools than to find a wife who allows sawdust in the kitchen...
You are lucky to have both!
Sooooooooooooo lucky my wife loves me. :)
Yea. I was thinking of looking up his obituary!
nice job and nice video.. well done jay..
Thank you!
Jay, good stuff man. practical and easy to make. Thanks
Great way to show how friendly some projects can be. Excellent!!
Thanks Billy.
Jay,
Nice project and great message about limited tools.
Regards,
Bob
Cool! Nice to see some of the personal side of your woodworking on the background. Thanks for the project idea!
Brett
Thanks for watching Brett.
That's a cool project. That would be great for snow boots in the winter too.
No that's a bad idea. I wouldn't want to step on that board with only socks on, after having just stepped on it with wet boots. I like your channel though.
Boy do I not miss snow! I grew up in Michigan. I've had enough of that growing up. Thanks for watching Brian.
You could save time and energy when constructing wood furniture if you have the specific diagram & step-by-step guides

This is how I work in my apartment. LOL
Thanks for making me feel I am not alone in not having a ton of power tools and space to use them in.
Yes! Shoot some videos of apartment woodworking!

Thank you! You just made this a heck of a lot easier for me 😊 1:43
Nice... never did guess what it was till you were done.
Thanks Mike.
Pero que increíble idea!!! Muy ingenioso Jay.
This is freaking gold! 😆
Awesome. Can this work with shoes as well?
Nice, hopefully there are projects that we can all do just by using simple power tools that all of us have.
There are a lot of easy projects that anyone can do.
BTW, I like the table you are working on - did you make that and if so is there a video?
I did make it but it was well before my UA-cam videos or website. I do not have any videos on it. Thanks for watching Roald.
yep they work good nice video. I have an old one made of plastic. If it breaks I'll make a new one. I still like Justin boots I've bought them when I was 17 yrs. old. Thanks Jay
Roland
Boy are they handy. Thanks for watching Roland.
Hey good video's Thank You
Mate, love it. That type of project is right up my alley. I'm off to make one right now:-)
Nice! Make it rustic!
I can guarantee that Jay:-)
Perfect project/video for a wooden boot jack!!!
Brother you must have one heck of a cool wife to let you do that on the table! That said its nice to see simple, useful projects now and then. Nice video as always.
What kind of boots are those?
Thanks Jay. Very useful project and entertaining video.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Love this, made it, works great with my Durango boots. This is the perfect partner for the mud scraper I welded up in my forge last year.
Very cool. Now I just need a mud scraper!
Great video and project Jay! I would have cut the table for sure. lol
I was so worried about drilling through it. How do you start that conversation with the misses?
Nice job. I hope that mess was cleaned up before the Mrs. made it home.
It's cleaned up, evidence gone!
If I tried something like that at my table, there would be a public flogging, lol. Those little functional things are great!!
Ha! Be careful!
As always another GREAT project... Thanks for the inspiration.
You're welcome. Glad you found some inspiration out of it.
Are you guys looking for a home soon? I'm sure there are still some bargains to be had for a guy with your talent to fix something up...
Actually we kinda are. Have to stay put till October at the earliest. May end up staying a few years though. Never know.
A good deal is always waiting...
Great hat, man.
Very good job. Thanks for sharing.
Love this!
Cool Project. Thanks for posting
You're very welcome Sam. Thank you for watching.
Why inside thoe jay. But I love the design will use it
My wife would kill me if I was doing that in our house haha. Nice project.
how can i avoid the first sock on getting dirty after holding the jack down with mudy boot
Man, from the cover picture I thought this was going to be some kind of kick-jack, like for hanging drywall. It was all making sense until you started cutting that big hole in the middle, then I was totally lost.
Another cool project, but I think you could have used pocket screws for that middle piece.
the dogs are like wtf ? haha awesome vid
Thanks - made me smile!
Very cool. Thanks for watching Jon
Very cool bro! Now break out the vacuum.
Good on you Jay! Simple sometimes is just the order :-)
Simple = awesome!
Yup!
nice job
Sorry is an awesome game, i just wish you would have used pocket screws to keep the streak alive...great vid jay
I think I needed to change it up a bit.
Glad i'm not the only one who uses power tools in the house :D (husband, not so amused!)
Great work, thanks for sharing,Greetings Jay
You're welcome Francisco. Thanks for watching as always!
I live in an apartment and I wish I could have a workshop to make my gadgets. Instead of a dining room table I suggest using your kitchen sink , just lay a piece of scrap plywood over.
good job
Very nice!
Thank you Jesper

She was gone :)
Jay Bates Whew, you live for us to see another video!
Nice
Thank you.
Thank you!
Saludo desde Puerto Rico
Jay I luv ur videos, great work and ideas, I didn't know what a boot jack was but after watchin u make it I said damn that's a great idea, thanks alot.---Al
awesome video!!! i always have trouble getting my work boots off. this is great def making one!!!! my wife would kill me if i made it in the house though lol
lol. She wasn't home :)
Nice one
Thanks Jan
That's very cool, Jay! I think I need two of them... One for home and one for the back.of my car! ;-)
Ha! Thanks for watching Olly.
I've never actually seen something like this before, very neat.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that your wife was NOT home when you did this? lol.
Seriously though, very good video, well done :)
Nope, she was gone thankfully.
Dying to know if she's still with you. Dining room table!!! Good simple video though.
11 years married and counting.
I looked everywhere at the hardware store but couldn't find that straight edge you're using. Sorry!
Jay, how do you stop the big dog from chasing your pet rat around? ;)
As always bro - love your stuff. Keep it up!
HonestDoubter hahaha! The little guy runs the house!
why build it in the living room..?
HaHa!!! I call that room the office...paperwork only.
Why not? Think outside the box! (shop)
Very cool. Music was good, too. I thought the final scene would be this: you are feverishly vacuuming and putting all your tools away seconds before your wife walks through the door. She asks, "Been home long, honey?" You say, "No, I just walked in."
Ha! So cool. I'll hold on to that one.
Here is a very useful tool
My wife would kill me if I started clamping, drilling and sawing on her dining table.
Mine too....but she wasn't home to see :)
Okay so that was awesome. Love the dog sitting in the chair. Awww he thinks he's people.
Looking for a man that wants to make useful stuff and can repair stuff. Welcome to saw, drill inside the house. I do in the winter time.
My Mrs would have shown me how to use an axe to cut flesh if i had used the dining table like you did in this video, lol.
It's all good. Clean as a whistle now.
I dont have boots. But nice idea. thank you
my wife would totally eradicate my being if i brought a project like this into the clean house....you got brass ones my lad
Looks like you had a problem because of some dirty boots and your revenge was to make the project inside :). Very nice video.
Thanks for watching Enredando.
Does your wife know you're using the dining room table to make this?!!
Really wouldn't work if you put your sock feet in the wood ! You need to get the sock feet over some sandals then on the board to get the next boot of! Other wise it's gonna be a dirty sock right there ;-)
I see who makes (wears) the sawdust in that house.
Jigsaw- drill- and a vacuum cleaner.
Dust collection is a must.
Looks like you need to build a garage.
jchap04 Why?
Momma must be out of town....... lol
....Yup :)
You are kinda stupid, right?
I think he was joking ;)
Ha! Thanks for watching Ed.
Time to trade in the wife (or do what I do, i do it when husband isnt home and doesnt know :P )
I can just imagine how many guys would get their asses kicked by their wives if they tried to do woodworking in the house on the dining room table!
Well....I made the dining table to so it would only be customary if I were the one who accidentally destroyed it :)
You are right you don't need all that to be able to make something, we have the shops to keep our marriages. Trust me young sir, build your wife a China cabinet in the living room and you will NOT return the rewards like if you would've kept the dust in the shop, if you get my drift. ;-)

How much grief did your woman give ya for woodworking in the house....lol
She found out over the phone so it wasn't too bad. I turned the volume down on the phone and it was like she wasn't yelling anymore :)
LOL
Apparently you also don't need any glasses
This is useless without dimensions!
Great idea, but you just reminded me of the good 'ole days when the "little woman" would kneel in front of you and lovingly pull each boot. Just joking....
Never seen those days!
