►In this video Canadian Guitarist/producer Dean Wolfe reacts to a live version of Breaking the Spell by Pendragon (released originally in 1993 on the window of life album). This is my FIRST time hearing the band and I was not disappointed!

►A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician, on the road at age 17-19, then went part-time ever since, holding 'day-careers' like chef (red seal papers), spiritual health care while raising a family. As a producer I've made hundreds of my own songs for media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, playing International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I mostly abandoned the prog genre in the '90s but have returned to it now with vigour 30 years later. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i explored grunge, pop rock and alternative, alt-folk / acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electronic as well. Recently i found shoegaze and lo-fi as well. I have a home studio that is ramping up for lots more music so stay tuned.

I've been to a few Pendragon concerts and they never disappoint the band are fantastic especially the guitarist.
If I was to pick an album from their back catalogue I'd go for "Pure" ....

Nick Barret is one of the most tasteful guitarists out there in my opinion.

Finally, someone is paying attention to this wonderful band! Since you asked for album suggestions, you can't go wrong with “Masquerade Overture”. However, you may also want to check out “The World” which has an exhilarating 22-minute, three-part killer suite that is nothing short of stunning. But whichever album you choose, you'll notice how emotive and stirring Nick Barrett's guitar play is - only Dave Guilmour and Andy Latimer give me the same chills. Thanks for opening this “Pendragon” box and happy listening! 🐝

I First Heard of this band in the mid-80s on a weekend British radio station broadcast here in the States right when Marillion's Misplaced Childhood came out. Took years before you could find their music anywhere. The Masquerade Overture (1996) and The Window of Life Album are my fav. The DVDs are a must-buy to have in your collection. Nick Barret ( Vocals/Guitar ) Clive Nolan ( Keyboards )
work very well together and I don't wanna forget Peter Gee on Bass( awesome ) Other tracks to check out are "As Good As Gold" and " Guardian Of My Soul". I have a Pendragon, Marillion with Fish and Fish solo music playlist together.
Please check out Fish's solo CD "Vigil In the Wilderness of Mirrors.

Seen them first in ‘85 and loved them since. Early albums very 80s in production and the later ones are a bit heavier. Their best 2 are “Masquerade Overture” and “The Window of Life”. Just found your channel and subscribed. If you like any of those songs on the albums I suggested, could you do a lesson on one? Nick Barrett is a very emotive guitarist.

Hi, I’d go with 2 albums to start. The world and the masquerade overture. You’ll love ‘em. 😊👍

Barrett is on the same level as Rothery, Gilmour. Pendragon and Marillion actually started out opening for each other

I would recommend Passion album for a heavier sound or Masquerade Overture for a neo prog sound. The last couple of albums, for me, are dull as ditchwater.

They drifted off into a new something I can't quite explain. The songs aren't catchy.
