    Learned about this one in the Rageaholic audiobook "Ghost of Winter". Thanks Grimdark, guys like you really flesh out the Battletech universe for the masses to enjoy!

      Ya same here, not my favorite of the clan mechs. But it seems alright enough for a 45 ton medium even if expensive.
      P.s I'm a brawler Stiner "scouting" for life

    Goshawk is a great mech to use as a flanker for a bigger mech. Used it more then once myself in table top play

    The Vapor Eagle is a really cool looking mech

    I find it really funny that the MWO Vapor Eagle actually looks more like the Goshawk II than the CGL redesign of the mech it's actually supposed to be.
    Not that I'm complaining. The Goshawk II 3 is my favourite mech in Battletech.

    It's clear that GDN is soaring with the Eagles with this video, rather than choking on Vapors...
    Well done, GDN!

    Ahhh, the Goshawk, always wanted to do a goofy rebuild with 3 light AC2's in the arm to serve as a mid range harasser. Able to run, jump, and shoot with frightening accuracy, with weapons that dont eat into the heat very much at all, poking holes into enemy battlemechs before disengaging. Never underestimate an AC2, where theres one shell, three more are sure to follow

    • @jamesricker3997
      @jamesricker3997 3 роки тому

      I always found the AC-2 to be weight inefficient, not enough Bang for the tonnage involved

    • @irishijo1
      @irishijo1 2 роки тому

      @@jamesricker3997 Sure, you could go for one AC5, but thats why its goofy. Three AC2's puts constant preassure on the enemy, acting almost like a slower firing RAC wkth how often AC2's fire. Send your enemies into a panic with how often theyre getting dinged, and who knows, with a targeting comp you just might hit the cockpit a few times

    Hello Grim.
    Even though I am a 'fan' of the Inner Sphere, I find the Goshawk to be a decent Mech overall. Some of it's variants are quite good for scouting and reinforcing said scouting Mechs.
    As to my 'history' with the Mech, well... In the old campaign group, my merc 'company' (actually a regiment by that time) surprised a Sea Fox unit and took over their repair depot for a short time. Long enough to take nearly a dozen Mechs, and or enough parts of Goshawk Mechs to be able to field them successfully in my Merc force's TO&E. I paired the Goshawks off with pairs of Phoenix Hawks (PXH-1Ds and PXH-1Ks).
    By fielding 3 Goshawks and a pair of Phoenix Hawks, I was able to field a Light Mech hunter group that was almost totally self sufficient. Enough so, that I only had to field a mobile repair bay to support the unit for extended raiding missions on supply caches and Mech support facilities upon secondary Clan worlds.
    Half a dozen Goshawks, and enough supplies to totally replace them all, enabled me to greatly increase my raiding of Clan secondary worlds, thus limiting their front line supplies and replacements. More than worth the two lances I lost taking them and the supplies in the first place.

      @@GrimDarkNarrator Oh, Grim... I should also mention that once the Star Lions Corps retreated to the outer Periphery to found their own colony, and later return as the Ghost Lions Legion, and due to their rather extensive trade network, extending from the Taurian Concordiate around to the Canopians and beyond to Clan Invasion space, my Lions were able to establish trade routes to the Clans Sea Fox and Diamond Shark. This gives my Lions access to Clan Tech in general, Elemental Armor and certain Mechs in particular. It is truly amazing just how powerful of a bargaining tool that a Monolith with full docking collars of Cargo Drop Ships full to the brim with rare element ores and ingots can be. The Clans are even more reliant upon such ores than the Inner Sphere, due to the 'high tech' nature of their technology. So, good deals can be made from time to time to supply their Manufacturing Plants and Mech Factories with enough of said ores to keep their production lines in full operation. Also, considering that my 'homeworld' is so far from the Clan Invasion Corridor, both Clans can deal with me with excellent chances that the parts, supplies, weapons, etc, will not be used against them. Especially considering my 'homeworld's location out near the Fronc Reaches, way out to the south of the Inner Sphere. In turn, I can sell Clan Tech to those wanting it at a significant markup in price, by selling off stuff that is excess to my needs. All of this is preface to mention that I have a supply of parts to keep my Goshawks, 'Vapor Eagles', in service at full efficiency. All my Goshawks are of the 'Standard' configuration, although the Experimental Design and Production Bureau are working on a variant for the Ghost Lions Legion that does not conform with the existing variants.

    DEFINITELY pronounced Goss-Hawk. Shortened form of Goose Hawk, a bird commonly used in medieval falconry. Goshawks are the largest of the Accipiters, or "forest" hawks, and have a range extending throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. In Japanese falconry, the Asian goshawk is called O-Taka. I used to work at a bird of prey center, and I specifically worked hands on with goshawks, as well as Harris's Hawks and Kestrel falcons

    GoH-shawk is how I read it. Just intuition. Seems like an upsizing and redesign of the Phoenix Hawk, then back to 45 tons. Could work well all-things-considered.
