DIY how to replace both the engine air filter and cabin air filter on your Mazda CX-5 SUV. This applies to 2022+ year models.
Game changer! Just saved me a smooth $175. Dealerships should be ashamed of themselves!
Me too
Yeah I need to go take a shower now. The dealer got me. 😅
Yea it’s better to change the filters on your own. Dealerships charge you for labor as well
Mine charges $66 for the cabin (!!!) and $46 for the engine. Nuts. It’s too easy.
My daughter just got an estimate of $115 plus tax for cabin filter and ‘fuel’ treatment (whatever the F that is?) (guessing some liquid additive to tank?) 😣
Thank you for this video! I feel like a dummy for never doing this myself before, now that I know how easy this is!
An awesome video! Thank you so much. This is very helpful. I went to the dealer yesterday, and they recommeded the change for both, on my 2023 CX-5 first oil change for $119.78 + Tax. I declined the work as I know I could do it myself. I am glad I found your UA-cam channel. Much appreciated😁!
My dealer wanted $279 to change these two filters. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
they also said they give you free oil change in next 2 years, right😂
Ty!!
Dealer wanted 70 for new cabin filter lol. Got cabin filter and engine filter for only 40 total from autozone. Excited to do it myself
Thanks man saved me hella money, mazda dealer tried to charge me 80 a piece to replace
Dude,great video,simple right to the point,no extra BS,thanks!!!
This was an extremely helpful instructional video. I appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Saved me literally an extra $250 at the dealership with this video lol... thanks!
A very good video and well explained. I changed both in 15 mins and saved $95 easy
Perfect, I brought mine in for service to the dealership a week ago and they wanted $120 to replace to cabin filter. I knew it was cheaper to do this myself, as long as I can find out where the cabin filter is. And it looks like its located in the same area as just about every other compact/crossover SUV.
Rarely comment on stuff, but this was super helpful. Thank you. Stealerships are such a rip-off
Just saved me $100 thanks
Great video, saved me big bucks!
Well done! Great explanation and clear video.
OK so I would recommend that you go into detail a little bit more about inserting the tongue and groove backside, part of the engine filter cover, it's tricky. At least it was for me. It took watching your video on a bigger screen and trying it a few more times to get it, but yeah, I'm a girl...
There is a damper on the right side to undo, and it can get damaged if too much pressure is applied.
Thank you!
Thank you for this video!
Very informative! Thank you
FYI. This engine air filter from Amazon that you linked to does not fit a Mazda CX-5 2023 TURBO model.
I put 16 inch rims on mine now Super Swampers are Available.
Funny enough I had already purchased that Fram filter before watching your video and it didn't fit. It's about 1-1.5 mm too wide
Hey buddy, great video, I just replaced my air filter with a K&N. 2022 CX5 GT.
I would love to see a video with the engine coolant my car only has 4000 km. I haven’t noticed any leaks but the engine coolant looks incredibly low. I’m wondering what other CX5 look like ?
If you have a 2022 CX5 and your check engine light has not come on, it might be your thermostat. Just took mine to the dealership today and luckily no charge. It will cost you $900 if you don't have a warranty.
Out of all the videos I’ve seen online on this topic, yours was most helpful. I appreciate the way you took the time to show how to remove the engine air filter cover.
Thank you sooooo much for this. Just saved me $230!!!!
Dealership quote: $262 to change the 2. Amazon price: $32. Labor time for me (thanks to you): 10 minutes, and that includes watching your video :)
Assuming it took another 10 minutes to watch the video and order the parts, you earned $690 per hour while doing the filter project.
Thank you!! Madza quoted 80 for cabin replacement and 60 for the engine filter just saved me $80!!
Dealer tried to charge $130 to do this lol. $30 on Amazon for both filters and a 3 minute job, literally everyone should be doing this.
Thank you very much brother. I am a 72 year old and no idea where these filters were located and way to replace these until I watched your video on the advise of an Autozone Salesman. MIDAS had quoted me over $100 to replace these two filters,. I saved $60 plus felt good on a DIY job. i had not changed these filters since i bought a new CX5 GT 3 years ago. Gave you a thumbs up and will look for your video on DIY for windshield wipers. Best wishes
Thank you !!!!!! You saved me 145.00 in labor and $55.00 filters
So easy , how easy ??? I’m a 75 year old woman with really bad arthritis and it was so easy to just un clip the engine filter and replace … cabin filter was super easy !!!
Just know if I can do it with my
Hands they way they are , you would not have any problem….
My problem was raising the car hood !!! I wish it was automatic like the tailgate !!!! 🤨
The dealer charged me $80 bucks for this. Unfortunately, the model shown here does not fit my CX-5 2.5 CE. 🤦🏽♀️
That's why I'm here 😅
Oh my I have never repaired anything on my vehicle, but I did not have the money for dealership repairs ordered both filters for $35 and I did it myself 😊
Local Mazda dealer wanted $120 for both filters to be replaced, lol!! It literally takes 5 mins to change em both. lol!!
Being a parent 101 . Make your kid learned to replace an air and cabin filter
Should have watched this yesterday, wasted my money by paying $85 to dealership smh never again, thanks bro
Thank you, it's not time for my to be change yet, but when it is i can do it myself. It will save me alot of money by not letting dealership do it.😊 I'll order both filters frm Amazon.
Engine filter doesn't fit the 2023 model
My respect to author! Bravo 👏
Short and understandable.
Thank you sir 👍
Great video! Thank you!!
I wish I had seen it before paying mazda $165 for parts and labor! Engine air and canine filter
For we people who know very very little indeed about these mysteries, thanks for making the distinction between the engine and cabin air filters.
I bought a carbon cabin filter, as an optional extra: I at least now know where it is: even though I've never seen it !
Please could I ask you two questions?:-
Do you think there's an appreciable difference between whatever standard cabin filter Mazda provides and the optional carbon one, please, or is it just psychological?
And, there's a label, a 'QJ' not a 'QR', but a QJ code, in the engine bay, with what appears to be a number which corresponds with the build date year and month, and some other numbers which mean nothing to me: do you know to what this refers?
(I've just noticed that your car, to the right of the air filter, has one: but yours says "QF" ) !
Thanks very much.
I've been changing these filters for 10+ years on all sorts of cars. To me, the factory Mazda one and a generic one don't seem to differ. Just get the filter form a reputable brand and you should be fine. The carbon is supposed to absorb smells so it kinda is deodorizing, tbh I just get the normal and carbon if the price is only a bit more.
@@blutsx Thanks.
What about the 'QF' code label, please ?
Thank you for this video, it saved me a bunch of money.
Really appreciate this video!!!
The dealership wanted to charge me $75 for this. I have a 2021 CX-5. 😂
Thanks for the video!
This was very helpful! Thank you for not making the video too long and just getting straight to the point
Thanks for this. For the Cabin filter, I use Spearhead Odor Defense Breathe Easy Cabin Filter, half the price of the one you listed. I've been replacing my cabin filter myself for years now, but not the engine. After the last cost estimate during oil change, I said no. I have Amazon send me a new filter every 6 months or so now, automatic, and replace both myself. Saved a good amount of cash over lifetime.
For the cabin filter there is a black thing (on the right side) you need to release before you squeeze the side
Awesome vid! You have saved many, many people $$$$ by this video. You rock!
Great instructional video! Thanks!
Question: I clicked on the two links in the description and it says on Amazons website that both of these products are NOT compatible with my ‘21 CX-5 (GTR). What gives?
Thanks for the helpful video! Great color!
Thanks for the Video!
Super informative and you made it look so easy as well!!
You made the clips on the front of the engine air filter box look too easy. Mine (2017) are a bear!!! Looks the same as your 2022.
Sorry noob here, is there a face up/face down side to keep in mind while installing both the cabin filter and engine filter?
I never realized how easy it was. Gonna save a lot of money from now 😂
Amazing video! Thank you!
Thank you! I have a 2014 and changed both of these today. However, I unnecessarily disconnected the glove box dampener and have no idea how to hook it in again.
Okay it's a different mechanism than this and I solved it by pulling on the hook- it extends out to the catch on the glove box.
Great stuff...Thank you!!!
big thumbs up..thank you..
Dzięki za pomoc
🙏🙏🙏
Thank you bro!
Ezzz does it
thank you!
There's no air flow arrows on the old cabin air filter? Or does it only go in one way?
The side that has the bigger filter goes down. There were no arrows on the factory one I removed.
Only goes one way tab first into a little slot on the bottom
Thanks, I live in a real dusty desert area in Eastern Oregon with almost nothing but dirt roads. I just put my second set of air and cabin replacement filters in and my 2022 CX-5 (that I bought new) only has 15K on it. It gets expensive living out in the undeveloped country, about every 7500 miles I'm looking at replacing them. These videos save me a ton of money.
Fantastic video and very informative! Thank you!
Update for Canadian 2022 CX-5 GS, the Carbin Air Filter part number is CF11811 fyi 😊
my 2022 has an "arm" that prevents the glove box from dropping down far enough...how does it release?
Great video. Clear instructions. Straight to the point. Thank you sir
Thank you so much! Obviously saved some cash in dealership
Does the engine filter for non turbo 2023 CX-5? Thanks
I am here ❤ again thank you for saving me 70 bucks. ❤❤❤
You have to disconnect the glove box damper first.
Looks like 2.5L Turbo requires a different air filter
Thanks for the video. Really helpful 👍
Wonderful video! Saving me a lot of $$.
Very quick and to the point. Thank you.
Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for the information.
I just changed my engine filter with this video and it was super helpful, thank you!
Also the cabin air filter link got taken off amazon, can you update with another link/part type in the description please?
Thanks, I updated the link!
Thanks for this!
Thank you so much
Thank you!
Thank you!
