Honestly, they could've been iconic if the writers had given them a chance at the start. And while I still hope they get explored at some point, it'll never be as good as AUs like this one, where they are star-crossed because of Hiram.

Looking forward to more! PS I don't ship the actors either. I find it fascinating they have no chemistry with their partners on screen (Save FP & Alice that was amazing, so it must be that the other character pair that just doesn't) Though it is interesting FP & Hermione didn't have much either but there is so much between them as J&V.
For people who say bughead or varchie when I ship these two never forget that Betty cheated on jughead and Archie cheated on Veronica. Jughead and Veronica DO NOT deserve this treatment. So I will always ship vughead
