Colt is great, IF he’s booked by intelligent people. Theres nothing about Young Buck match planning that makes you think they can sustain a long term project. If they could, they wouldn’t have needed Jericho or Danielson, or CD, or any of the other legendary talents behind the scenes to construct matches.

He asked numerous times to not work with the guy after he hurt Punk. He eventually got so injured and Dr. Amman wouldn't treat his injuries properly. He needed rest, but they gave him painkillers and antibiotics. That's why he shit himself in one of his last matches against Moxley(Ambrose) in WWE, he also had a staph infection in his elbow that almost killed him and then after he quit he aired all these grievances on Cabana's podcast and then repeatedly said he would never ever go back....the money didn't matter....all that nonsense....and whaddya know....money did matter and he's back where he said he would NEVER go again because "he has principles and integrity" but obviously that was a lie too.

People were accusing him of getting Colt fired from AEW as part of his deal to come and wrestle there and acting like Punk was the reason it all came to a head.
They had a gentlemans agreement essentially for Punk to cover Colts court costs after the podcast. Colt then used that agreement to try and get Punk to pay for a lot more then just that, and then when they won the case didn't want to pay Punk back for anything whatsoever.

So now that he's gone they said that the drama was to be gone. Has that really happened? It seems as though it has gotten worse. Also, appointing a wrestler as a disciplinary action is a conflict of interest. Any lawyer would see that as firing a guy in the type of business wrestling is a conflict of interest and would lose AEW a court case. Danielson would be seen as getting rid of Punk because of a chance to inherit his spot. A good lawyer would have said no to letting a wrestler be a part of a determination on firing another wrestler. AEW would be backed into a legal corner over this if they were to pursue any legal action.
If you followed the dirt sheets they were constantly posting about Punk being the reason Colt was moved to ROH, Punk being the reason we aren't seeing young talent on TV, but who was booking the shows? Who signed the checks and printed out the contracts ?
I get it Punk can be an asshole I in my 20s I was doing light work for a small Indie promotion and I asked if he had any tips for breaking into the business and he straight up said "become a doctor." Yeah it sucked cuz I was a big fan and was hoping for something with more substance but that's Punk . Being mad at him for being an asshole is like being mad at water fire for burning you when you get too close.

I wouldn't say totally vindicated, I think Punk showed himself in a bad light and Colt just carried on doing his own thing.
As for their situation, it's most likely that Colt forgot about the message exchange about legal counsel payment as he was a total nervous wreck the entire court case with the doctor. His podcast from the time will confirm this, he would have been totally ruined if the ruling went against him. For him it was basically a week-long panic attack leading up to the final ruling.
It's always better to assume ignorance instead of malice, but I get the feeling that didn't happen here.
