A lot of us Black people have a problem with the statement because it's not an actual apology.
    How to apologize genuinely
1.Acknowledge the offense. Take responsibility for the offense, whether it was a physical or psychological harm, and confirm that your behavior was not acceptable. ...
    2.Explain what happened. ...
    3.Express remorse. ...
    4.Offer to make amends.
They did non off that. I learned that during therapy, but they can find the how to on Google too.

@shepherdboy9692 You know there is sooooo much information out there, why this doesn't work - even by brand owners and cosmetic chemists - that I'm not going to explain this to you a lot more. Because we're tiered of this. They decided that they wanted to be inclusive and then did this $hit show. Action -> Reaction. That's on them. They said it's a foundation, not a mixer. So that's on them, too. Nobody is pure black (because there's only iron oxid and a tiny bit of white in it, which is why it turns every other foundation gray ), and it has been shown that even the ones with the darkest hues (Sudanese) can't wear that, because - I repeat - it's pure black. Only using black and white is not how you mix a foundation/skin colour. Every skin has undertones. We don't want opportunities, we want results.
      But nice try.

The fact that they still have the controversial shade still on its website lets you know everything.... if you truly cared and were sorry you would've taken full accountability, they couldn't even do the most simple task which was to take the product down. They are still selling the product and also typing up an apology saying how much they're "truly sorry" Do they really think people are that clueless to not think that you're ignoring the bigger issue at hand.

    • @wickywickyjoka

It's still selling because this outrage is fake, and people realllllly want the product to garner views on their channels. This is advertising 101 stuff. We used to learn all about propaganda at school, in order to protect ourselves from being taken advantage of by simple, cheap tricks.
But now, we got people who can't afford to eat because they are taken by this kind of stuff on the daily. "I need 40 Stanley cups!!!" Comes from the same mouth that screams "This economy is impossible to survive in!"

@@wickywickyjoka I mean I wouldn’t necessarily say the outrage is “fake” the outrage was necessary. But I do also agree that outrage marketing gets the people going and ready to purchase. But I also think Youthforia is a new brand it doesn’t have the long standing loyalty base consumer market like other makeup brands. Now you’re discussing the over consumption of consumerisms with the Stanley which is different discussion.

I'm southeast Asian and a lot of Asian brands, especially East Asian brands, often don't have foundations that work for even my skin tone because fair skin is very valued in a lot of Asian cultures. It's why skin lightening creams, sun protection products, etc., are so popular. I'm unsurprised by this controversy and I won't be shopping youthforia. Like it's very clear she wasn't trying to take this seriously from the beginning like her other shades and even worse is that she acts like its such a struggle. They have no excuse tbh, like they know better. And a big reason they know better is hindsight, all they would have to do was look around at other brands and prior scandals and decide to NOT do that. Even if making an extension to their shade range takes a very long time, it would have been better long term for her brand. She could have made it content or something, like a behind the scenes type of stuff explaining why make up is planned months to years in advance. Instead they decided to do lazy and insulting work and are shocked that people called them out on it.

I agree, making a video would reach more people to possibly understand what happened, and where it went wrong…. However this company did so many things wrong. From allowing this product to be made, allowing it to be released to consumers, to even trying to cover it up by going out and grabbing people who they thought the product worked for and squeezing them last minute amongst the shade range roster. A video would have been the solution explaining and taking ownership of how this mistake shouldn’t have taken place. There’s no excuse for what happened because there’s been a huge discussion by consumers of what’s to be expected and this has been going on for years. Their response was written from a corporate standpoint and not of a company having its consumers best interests.

It’s not a problem to speak out when you’re being disrespected. Black people fighting for rights from the end of the civil war-now is 90% of the reason why minorities of all groups have any rights in the US at all.
If the brand is being disrespectful and not inclusive of the obvious differences between white and black people do you think they’re suddenly going to have products for the groups you mentioned? Do you think they will even care to get even more specific in targeting POC who aren’t as dark as black people, but have special skin and undertone concerns that are diff from the white people the brand is so clearly trying to target?
The brand itself only sells within the US. They are the ones who went on a whole diatribe when they launched this shade about how they couldn’t find anyone in any of their testing sites that matches this shade. Clearly the brand doesn’t think non-black Hispanics or aboriginal people with this skin tone exist otherwise they would’ve showcased it on them. Instead they had to fly over to Dubai and find some guy (who they can’t even sell it to due to their shipping restrictions).
If other minorities wanna cape and take disrespect from brands who want to pretend they don’t exist that’s their right, but don’t act like other groups fighting for more shade inclusion for ALL is the issue when it’s the brands still stuck in the 1950s being the problem.
