Beautiful!! Leather trick: Wet the leather thong before wrapping-- the leather will shrink slightly and tighten up as it dries😁
OH DANG! Thank you my friend, great suggestion! We are such newbies with leather.
This is ABSOLUTELY not a criticism, just a neat tip. Both sabers look great, but you may have been creatively edged out😊
Both look great, I always love to see people make their own lighsaber hilts from random bits and pieces
I think we're the winners for getting an amazing episode and seeing two different approaches to create such amazing props.
Thank you so much for the kind words, it means more than you'll ever know! Thank you!
Carrissa CRUSHED this and followed the rules. Both are amazing, but one speaks to the challenge in a capacity that ANYONE can do, and that’s going to the hardware store, and figuring it out. Keep these killer videos coming!
Amazing work. I love custom builds like this.
Those stickers come off easier with a little heat. Block the end of the tube and fill with hot tap water. It's important not to get the sticker itself wet. Five to ten minutes and the sticker should just peal off.
Well the leather wrapping sure wins in my book, that is one beutiful saber.
Do not get me wrong, both are amazing, but sorry Brian you loose.
@@ChrisPage68 Funny PageMonster, but she is the one thing I would consider the ultimate win! LOL
Great job guys!!! Great duel. The force is strong with these two.
She won. All found objects.
That Did it for me.
and besides, she taught me the rule of three, I didn't know that.
That is the truth! (this is carissa) I loved how it turned out, and thank you for the compliment! Yes, the rule of threes, I'm kind of bound by it with everything! Thank you for watching!
Oh Carrissa, if you want easy to use black versions of the clear angled spacers that you primered that terracotta color then painted black, then I used vacuum hose tube for my saber. 👍
You can cut it to whatever size you want for a black "vent" section near the emmiter with no painting required. It fits perfectly over 1 and 1/4 inch sink tube. I just cut 1 and 1/2 inch sink tube to go around it with a cut angled emmiter end for my saber.
Great job! I built 2 ROTJ light sabers about 6 months ago. I wonted to stay as close as I could to the screen prop using all most all hardware store finds. I did order a 5 sided robe hook to use a the pummel . I'm really proud of the way they turned out.
Best intro ever!!! Both of those sabers are incredible. Hers IS bigger! Love the wrap. May the force be with you both.
Both are fantastic and show unique personality. It feels like we all won. I learned some new tricks from this so I feel like I won. Thank you!!
I like that, good deal! Good luck with the tips, I love learning new things!
It is sooooo awesome to see you guys working and playing together. I'm glad Carissa is over her shyness of the Camera because that's what made this episode shine. Oh yeah and the lightsabers were kickass too! I really love both Lightsaber's and cannot pick the winner so I declare a tie. Brian's would win an old school Competition for its sleek design and Carissa would win the New age Competition for its many different designs and shapes. I love em both! Thanks for yet another great video!
Great job guys 👏
These sabers look amazing! I am so inspired to try this myself. And just because you asked, Carissa’s saber is the coolest of the two.
You guys are adorable together! I can't pick a winner. I like parts of both!
"Forged in Force" loved seeing you guys both attack the build in different ways.
That was so awesome!! You two just gave me some new creative ideas for my MMCC lightsaber trophies! Thanks and stay safe👍
Hi there, wow, both are brilliant. If you were going for an authentic Luke Skywalker era look the yours Brian would win, but the creative expression in your dearly beloved's is awesome, a clear winner!
They both turned out really well, but I have to say that Carissa's is amazing!
Love them both but the found parts takes it to the next level
Oh man they both came out great for being every day items you can get from any hardware store. Lets not forget having vision and tons of imagination on what your wanting to build. Totally cool job done by both you. Its tie since i can't choose between both saber. Congrats!!
Love that, it is so much fun to see how we approach the same 'challenge' or project. We love how both turned out for sure and really enjoyed the journey of getting there! Thank you for watching!
Nice job, as always...it would be kind of cool to see you build them fully though with a blade and lights, but I still love the builds, every Smugglers Room episode puts a smile on my face, and I still can't wait for the window into outer space because that will be AWESOME!
Thanks for the compliment, yea would be cool to do that for sure! I love that we can add some smiles to your day! Thank you for watching!
Great builds guys! The KOTOR inspired build reminds me a lot of the Galaxy's Edge lightsabers! Great video.
They look great!
Thanks Andy! we really enjoyed working on these! Thank you for watching
You should do a lightsaber build challenge, to make a working prop with all the lights and sounds.
There is no „winner“ as long as you are satisfied with each of your lightsabers.
Greetings from Munich, Tom.
Ooooooooh a lightsaber build! These are honestly some of my favorite props to make, there's just so much freedom to make something completely unique.
First time on this channel and I learn how make not only one but two beautyfull lightsabers because of Bob of " I like to make staff " !
Thanks both of you for this inspiriting show !
I am sorry for my poor american english but, as the greatest part of my people learning an other stranger language is very hard .
Thank you so much for joining us! So glad you are here and that you enjoyed the project!
Digging both! Your scrapflex was simple and straightforward (in a positive way) and your wife's felt like it had no boundaries of what it could be! Have you done a lightsaber with FX and a blade? If not that would be really cool!
Thank you! I have not tried an FX saber yet, that would be a lot of fun!
Both are fantastic! I hate having to choose but I am definitely loving Carissa's. Not only for the assortment of parts and her unique style, but I'm also a fan of sabers with longer hilts. They somehow just feel more balanced when I'm swinging them around like the big geek that I am!
I love the completely custom hilts! Just the difference between each personal grip and design between old republic or scrap parts
One of my favorite ways to remove lettering from plastic is the slice it off with a craft knife, then come back and lightly sand/ flame polish. It goes faster than filing them off and leaves a perfect finish.
Despite all the respect I have and owe you, Carissa's lightsaber is my favorite. The use of the different materials is well thought out and the handle with the leather laces is very classy. Nice work.
That was great. My vote on the winner, both of you. You were able to show two different ways to do the same thing. That is the great thing about lightsabers, they are supposed to be unique to the individual Jedi.
Brian, your work is always exemplary. I too am always particular about some things and how they might translate to a finished items or build. However, I would have to give Carissa the win on this challenge. Her work on this is epic. I see why you make an "effective team"!
LOVE IT! Thank you very much! She totally outdid me on this. It's such a unique look and I love it too. . . . and I see what you did there ;) "effective team" love that movie!
They both look fantastic, but I'm going to have to give this one to Carissa. That leather weaving on the handle looks awesome! I have got to make my own lightsaber one of these days! I think you two just bumped it higher on my list! You're always such an inspiration!
Nice! Thank you so much (this is carissa) it was so much fun and I wanted to go outside of the box with it I've named it B3R-Tha :)
Man these look great!!! I always wanted Spaceballs the FlameThrower LOL
Regardless of wo "won" you guys sounded like you were having fun together. Thats what's up right there. Fantastic job guys.
I love it when people build their own lightsabers! The hero/villain lightsabers have their place. Just NOT as the one you'd carry into battle. A scratch build lightsaber is a reflection of the inner person. My blade color is ALWAYS silvery white!!
I would have to give it to Carissa as in Star Wars lore the lightsaber parts choose the builder through the force and the builder imagines what the saber hilt looks like through the force’s guidance. I also really love all of the creative liberties she took.
Try using WD-40 for all the stickers. I use this trick and it removes the stickers and the glue as well. Keep up the awesome work. I love the channel
08:33 - Lighter fluid is also very good at removing stickers and ink. Learned that from the Reseller Community...
A true Jedi makes their own lightsaber, one that represents themselves.
A hand-held saw! What miracle is this! A fabrication video without a huge desk mounted fusion powered induction laser cutter thing! Awesome! (Just to clarify, I don't mean that you guys do that all the time (the huge mounted power tool thing), but more often than not that's the norm on most other crafting channels. Nice to see some hand held tools for once :D)
I have seen many hilt instructions, but I knew that TSR would have the best one.
Thank you!!! So glad you liked it, and hopefully you run out and make your own!
This is awesome. Oddly enough I just made something like this yesterday before seeing this video and I think it came out pretty cool. I used some miscellaneous parts from around the shop at work and some of them are some pretty unique cool looking parts since I do maintenance at a jail. It's not 100% done but it won't take much more to complete
Loving the project and the hilts! Can't wait to see more!
Are y'all gonna be making blasters for your Mando costumes??? Ideas, ideas, but there's a lot of time for that.
*I couldn't stop laughing at Brian his hair from his face at the beginning! Awesome stuff!
Yeah, we just had so much fun with this. Thank you. And, yes, we are going to make blasters and more to go with our Mado costumes. We've stretched out the schedule a bit since there is more time! So keep a watch out!
A pretty great build I don't see a clear winner on this one. I like the way Carissa did a sort of Samurai sword wrap but the t tracks on Brian's are iconic. I am waiting for the best of 3.
Whoa these are both way cool. I like everything about hers except the emitter which seems too small and thin imo.
As someone who builds custom lightsabers I cringe when anyone asks me to build one of the movie sabers. Why limit yourself to someone else's imagination. I never did the sink tube sabers and graduated right to full sound and light hilts. Both look great, I lean a bit more towards Brian's hilt though. All those extra greeblies look cool, but would make it harder to wield as a weapon. And weapons aren't supposed to injure the person wielding them. And that silicon pad for mixing epoxy is awesome!
Thank you!!!! I share your opinion for sure. That said, it was so awesome to watch Carissa break all the rules and create a really great looking piece.
I HAVE to vote for one? I love the “classic” look of yours, Brian. The ‘cheating’ with the Graflex parts might be a disadvantage in regards to voting. But, the look is clean and sleek. I love the look of the sanded pipe. Gives it a nice satin finish.
However, Carrissa’s use of leather is amazing. I love that hers has a more ‘crafted’ feel to it.
If I had to vote for one, I think Carrissa’s comes more closely to the direction I would take myself. I’d have to give her an extra 0.6 points out of 10 over yours Brian. Sorry man. This is a close one. A lot closer than the laptop covers. Love the craftsmanship from both of you.
Slightly disappointed the Cricut didn’t get any play in these builds.
LOL!!! Love it Deanna! You are correct on all fronts! She did an amazing job and it turned out so great. Thank you so much! Next time, we'll get that circuit going for sure!
i like your build, but I have to give it to your wife. Her saber hilt looks awesome! If I were a Jedi/Sith, my saber hilt would look something like that one. From the length of the hilt, and the look of the emitter. It was an inspired build!
Thank you Raymond! I think I agree with you my friend, she did an incredible job with hers. So unique, and really fun! Thanks for watching!
I'd have to say Carissa's is the best because I like longer hilts with copper (well at least roughly the same colour) and some kind of wrap.
Brian, I gotta say I loved her wrap on the hilt. But yours was so clean and slick looking. How do I choose? I have to look at how they would fare in a lightsaber duel. Considering she could just throw her hilt at you un-ignited (I'm sure that's not a word) and knock you out at the onset of the battle, I would say she would win. But both are great looking - you guys look like you had fun!
Both are really cool! I just built my 1st light saber! Had a blast looking around the hardware stores and raiding our machine shop trash at work for parts. Carrissa, where did you get the copper cup piece at about 14:28? It has 3 knobs on it. I need one of those! Love your video!
Brian's lightsaber looks really like it was meant to be in the movies. The other saber looks just like a prop you'd take to galaxy's edge.
What a great date build! And yeah, sorry Carrissa won that...both are really pretty, but hers...hers is her own for certain! Y'all are cute as hell together--thanks for another fine post!
This is amazing! Who won? Im gonna go with Brians Lightsaber! I love the size and the style. Im a fan of the smaller lighsabers and also a fan of the more modest or simple look.
I am gonna have to do this!
Thank you! I'm with you as well, although it was crazy fun to see Carissa dive in with both feet on this. It was a great time and so glad you enjoyed it
They both look great and it's really my favorite thing to make when I'm out of ideas. It always leads me to something else. You should check out my hardware store sabers! I made 2, a light side and a dark side!
Cool yes! We'll check that out for sure, it was so much fun! Thank you for watching.
"Watch out for the little teethies" Good advise in all aspects of life, not just saber building.
Best tip on removing those blasted stickers: heat gun. It melts the adhesive and the sticker comes off all in one piece.
Stunning as always, I like both lightsabers, but Carissa wins for a little bit 😉👍
Really awesome and inspiring video. I was wondering what Carissa used for the top of her lightsaber? Thank you again, look forward to future videos.
CARISSA for the win sorry man hers he's just looks like a actual used and personalized saber. Yours looks like a saber that they issue out to everyone like the army does with a M16. oh sorry if I spelled your name wrong spelling isn't my strong suit. Great job guys can't wait for the next show and thanks for bringing a little normalcy to my day in not so normal times its its greatly appreciated and needed.
Aaron, we're glad to hear that we can give you some relief in the middle of all the madness, that is something we're striving for. Thank you so much for watching, we really had fun with this one, and as always love the differing outcomes!
Love the builds. A light saber is a reflection of its owner so no two are alike. As for whose is better? Well, did Luke and the other Jedi have a place to order parts? Wish I could give the video an extra like for the Spaceballs reference.
Spaceballs the Lightsaber...that alone was worth the price of a thumbs up. LOL
Olive oil and WD40 are great and easy ways to remove sticker residue as well!
Love that beginning!!! Here's the deal; Han shot first, and Carissa Won. Those facts are Canon! LOL
I love you guys! I really can't choose a winner, and I don't mind! It's lovely to see your passion in the video(s)! I'm currently making a basement spaceships myself, and this looks so fun, I might have to respond to you with a Sonic Screwdriver competition with my wife! :-)
Thank you! You should absolutely make your own custom Sonic Screwdriver. That would be great to see!
Both lightsabers look excellent! Great job guys. I do think Clarissa's has more of an edge over your lightsaber Brian... but I still love yours. :)
I'm probably not the only person that wants to hear a longer version of your intro song... :P
Both are great sabers but I'm a Graflex fan ...
I've got to give it up to Carrissa. Her's truly a DIY lightsabre using all "found" / "off the shelf" parts.
Indeed! She did an amazing job with it, and it was so much fun to watch her build it!
