I can watch this magnificent performance over and over. The wonderful connection Khatia has with the music and each instrumentalist is totally awesome. Brilliant conductor and orchestra completely complement her awesome playing. Bravo
This is the best interpretation of Tchailovsky piano 1 I know of. Her being so into the music makes a difference, she takes you with her in the middle of it all, the way she communicates with the musicians is inspiring for them too, they can certainly see her, and the orchestra is magnificent. Last but not the least one of the most wonderful piano concertos written by a human. Yuja is all rapids and downhill racing. Kathia is sunset on a calm water next to your loved one.
The passion. The absolute effortlessness on playing those fast passages. The perfect interplay between piano and orchestra. I can feel the passion, I can feel the joy. This is LIVING the music you are playing. I can watch this over and over again. Magnificent performance, BRAVI all of you! Thank you for sharing this, your art and your beautiful soul with us.
Times have changed. I first saw Arthur Rubinstein play this concerto and he would show no emotions. He would just sit statue like only moving his hands. To tell the truth I prefer watching Khatia Buniatishvili play this than old man Rubinstein.

Khatia dances with the music as she plays. IMO the BEST pianist when it comes to being IN the music, in her flow, communication with the orchestra and conductor is seamless. It’s exciting, dynamic, true mastery. She is breathtaking every time! And I watch and listen a lot! 😅

ABM played the second-rated piano concertos like Mozart 13 Haydn G Major Liszt no 1! ABM never played the Best piano concertos like Mozart 24 Brahms 1-2 Chopin 1-2 Prokofiev 1-3 Rachmaninov 1-3 Saint-Saens no 2 Tchaikovsky no 1 JS Bach 1052 Beethoven no 4 Scriabin and so on! ABM was a boring Cyborg Human machine!
Losr for words - but I'll try... Such a well known piece, played with such expression. Khatia has absolute masrtery of the art of rubato, and her pianissimo playing is beautiful. And she tackles the virtuoso passages with real fire! The orchestral playing is wonderful too - I especially liked the flute solos. Bravo! It's just a shame that there didn't seem to be an audience there to enjoy the performance live.

É de longe o meu prefrido. Conheço-o bem, compasso a compasso. Quando jovem, eu o ouvia na vitrola de minha irmã acompanhado pela partitura. Ia seguindo todos os compassos dos 3 movimentos. O tema executado pela orquestra entre os minuntos 2:22 e 2:32 é uma dança típica russa. Entre os minutos 2:42 e 3:03 aparece uma melodia maravilhosa! Meu Deus, este concerto é lindo demais! É de longe o meu prefrido. Conheço-o bem, compasso a compasso. Quando jovem, eu o ouvia na vitrola de minha irmã acompanhado pela partitura. Ia seguindo todos os compassos dos 3 movimentos. Minha paixão por este concerto é eterna!
