Hi! I will be trying this as so many of the mesh laundry bags I’ve purchased have broken within a few months of buying. I want to do this without purchasing any new items, with that in mind, what kind of fastening would you recommend instead of a zip? Would adding a few buttons work with the mesh material? 😊

That's a totally different project if you're trying to use different materials.

Ooohh these are perfect! I’m new to sewing so I may sound silly with this question but, did you make that double folded bias tape and then flatten out? I know you can but premade but since your matches I thought I’d ask. That little zipper covered area is my favorite part! Brilliant! Thank you for the tutorial!

Yes, I had the bias tape left over from another project (this one mellysews.com/how-to-sew-a-hanging-towel-easy-diy-for-your-kitchen/) so I flattened it out for this project. It's not necessary for that piece to be cut on the bias for this project though.

Thanks Melly! I really like your burrito method on this! I’ve purchased some of these bags but they always come apart at the seams and the zippers always come undone! But I figured I’d just remake them. Was thinking I’d might put bias around the edges, too, so the mesh doesn’t pull apart. Not sure if the problem was the mesh not holding the stitches or if it was just a really bad sewing job, but it happened on several bought from different places.
I was also thinking to add a bias strip to the zipper pull to make it easier to pull out of that little catch pocket. What do you think? TFS 🌷

Bias around the edges would definitely reinforce.
