Great advice!! I managed to do some of the same things you do to make me happy. Especially, the daily walks and meeting people in the elevator, etc. Thanks for the videos.😅🎉
My husband and I absolutely LOVE your videos and look forward to listening to them every Saturday. First thing we do with our cup of coffee. You have no idea how much positive impact you have both made to helping calm our fears about retirement. We are both going this coming spring in May, and listening to all your ideas has really been inspiring. Please keep up the great work. I know it must be hard sometimes to come up with new ideas for videos, but just love hearing about your daily life is awesome to us. Blessings from Winnipeg.
Thanks so much for such a lovely comment, it’s comments like yours that keeps us going. We are hoping to travel next winter. Thanks for your loyal support we both really appreciate it.
I’ve been retired for a year. I love sleeping until I’m done and taking my time over my coffee. I’m enjoying improving my fitness at the gym, I’m taking skating lessons with one of my daughters and I love spending time with my other daughter and her horses. It’s absolutely wonderful!
We live in FL in the largest 55+ community in the world where the activities (physical, mental and social) abound. This factor allows us to tick all the recommendations you made in this video. Morning coffee is even available at our Village Rec Centers! When I was a new retiree (15 years ago…..Whaaaat!!!), the first thing we did was give ourselves permission to sleep as much as we needed to. In about 3 months, our sleep bucket was full again after living 40 years of deprivation. Living sleep deprived was the hardest working life habit we had to overcome.
Thanks for watching do you live in the Villages🧐we have seen You Tube videos on there it looks a nice place .We love waking up to ☕️ coffee already brewed then breakfast together, talking about You Tube, hearing and discussing the news and generally a great start to our day . We hope you have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
I am with both of you when it comes to starting the morning with coffee. I love to have a good breakfast. Then I go around and do my gardening which just gives me so much joy smelling the roses.I love cooking healthy meals for family and it is more economical to do so. Looking forward to downsizing and the next phase of retirement. Thank you for sharing your lifestyle as it helps me to adjusting to the new happy normal retirement lifestyle. It takes a change in mindset to be much more contented with slow living.
Another great video with good advice. You are both so positive. I smile very time I watch you. One of my sweetest moments after I had been retired, was when the first winter hit hard. I got up, looked out my bedroom window, and saw the snow storm. I just stood and watched, thankful that finally I did not have to negotiate the bad roads to get to work. As for treating yourself, we had to work on this one. But I finally think we’ve got it down! 😊
That’s so cool our new moto is if the weather is bad we don’t go out let alone drive just crawl back into bed 🛌 LOL 😂😂 Believe it or not it’s hard to treat yourself we are working on that too have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷☃️🌺🙂
We enjoy our coffee in the morning as well. Nothing like waking up to fresh brewed coffee. We stay busy with grandkids and traveling here and there. This really is the best times of our lives.
Sounds great! it’s a wonderful way to start the day , we eat breakfast together discuss, comment and plan our You Tube channel we are so glad we took early retirement we are loving 🥰 it, have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Thank you both for talking about the important retirement stuff. I have a tendency to be too frugal and think about financial stuff too much. You guys keep me balanced and cheer me up.
We retired early I was 55 and my husband this year at 58 .We are busy enjoying our life walking together enjoying the outdoors we have smart watches .Keeps us on track.
That’s awesome we were (Tina ) 58 and Norm was 60 when we sold the house moved and rented our apartment and have never looked back , hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
This list is so timely for me personally as December 1st will mark the first day of my retirement --- hooray! I have to give both of you a grateful nod for prodding me to make an informed decision. Your videos have been instrumental in convincing me to do this. The most significant point you have made in a previous video is the issue of downsizing and moving from an expensive area to a less expensive one. I am taking that ball and running with it. (California to West Virginia). Continued thanks for everything!
my family lives in one of the most expensive states for retirees. surrounding states appear to have a better deal, but property taxes and sales taxes more than make up for that. I don't want to live somewhere where I am quite alone. Another consideration is that you have no idea where anything is, what businesses are good to work with, etc.
@@e-spy We appreciate your concerns, that was part of the attraction to us in moving to a new area was the exploration and newness, it was exhilarating for us but then again we have moved a lot in our lifetime. We also found asking other folks about which was a good business, people were very willing to help. Thanks for sharing your concerns.
Moving is a big adventure but definitely worth the effort of research especially when retiring. Before retirement our first move was England to Wales only 5.5 hrs drive but so very different finding work new friends house etc 11 years later retired we moved to Ontario new place but no stress of seeking employment. Personally I didnt think I could do it but hey I did and life is so short. Just do it.Such a great experience. Best wishes.
@@e-spy I suggest becoming familiar with an intended retirement locale by researching extensively on the internet as well as gathering information from diverse sources. Then pay a visit or visits to that place and do as many things you would do in a normal day in order to get a grasp on the tempo and possibilities. It will help a lot to avoid future mistakes and pitfalls.
Both of my husband and I work in the medical field and we usually get up before 6 to go to work. We are so looking forward to our retirement so we don’t have to set up the alarms 😃
It is so nice not to jump out of bed in the morning and go to work, breakfast for us has become a wonderful part of the day where we talk and plan things. All the workplace stress disappears, we hope you both keep well and stay safe. 😀😀
Your comment is so spot on! I just shake my head when I hear folks say ‘I’ll never have another cellphone or computer when I retire!’ In order to keep up with being alive in the 21st century, knowing technology is a must!
My husband still has three years to work but we are so happy we bought a Volt for his work vehicle! It’s 45 minutes each way to work. We charge the vehicle at home at night which gets him all the way to work and then he charges the vehicle during work and that gets him home. Our home’s average monthly electric bill is $85, which includes the car charging, and his company provides charging for free. With the gas prices right now we are very happy.
I totally agree with your “happy tips”. I have a smart watch, great neighbors and simple joys! I try to stay current as well. I don’t want to miss out on anything! I hope my next car will be electric, but I haven’t done my research on that yet. Stay safe and be happy!
Great comment thank you , we have been things an EV car would be nice but until they put the chargers in it wasn’t a possibility now it is so we are doing all the research, have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺⌚️🍺
My wife and I have followed your videos and find that we have done a lot of the planning and budgetary ideas, but always watch and learn, thank you for the information.
That is awesome! we are having a lot of fun sharing our retirement which we took early 6 years ago , and so glad we did as we got 4 amazing years of wonderful travel memories as we never thought something like Covid 😷would happen 😱 🌺
Hey Tina and Norm! You guys look so cute today and love your mugs that your son got you. You guys totally seem like a super happy retired couple that loves to spend time together. Yes, keeping up on trends would be very important at any age. Even at our age, we feel with new tech it's hard to keep up and Butters works in tech! That's cool that your watches are able to not only track your steps, but blood pressure too. That would be very useful as you age. Speaking of aging, we agree that the biggest worry that young people have about retirement is having enough money to last your life. That's why invest young, and save what you have for a rainy day! LOL!! Great video and love you guys to the moon. 🌛🤗💖
So good to hear from you and thank you for the compliment, we were very lucky to meet each other it has just worked right from the beginning. We wanted to try something new so thought about having a tea break with our audience. We had a suggestion from someone to do this and we felt it went pretty good. You bring up a good point about being younger and having the fear of money running out in retirement, we had that too in our mid life as we thought about retirement. We pretty much always knew we would sell our house and either buy smaller and bank the balance or rent and invest all the house money. That has provided us with a secure retirement. Hope you are both well and having fun! 💕🇺🇸🇨🇦💕
They are just comedians having their own show that I really miss from the regular television - that don T have it.... Laugh ing.. But the teaching comments here.. Let me make a list what I need to know about preparing for the future.
Johin Lenon said, "life is what happens when your busy making plans" I have returned to the activities I used to love but, fell out of favor over the years-- kayaking, archery and audio systems.
Retired and getting up at 6:30 am? For us it's starting to stir around 8:30, and slowly work our way to the kitchen around 9. Our days and time our are own, and we're enjoying it. Thanks for sharing.. 💟
We are all different and that’s OK , Norm likes to wake early around 5.30 and works on You Tube or his stock photos, Tina loves tea in bed 🛌 around 6.30 -7.00 🍵fresh coffee ☕️ is already brewed and the smell floats through the apartment and our day starts just wonderful Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
While we enjoy all your videos, this was our favorite. Great advice regarding keeping up on investments. So important, whether you're fully retired or not. People have to be engaged with their financial planners to be successful. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. We love our smart watches as well. And finally yes, absolutely, socialize, and have a purpose for getting out of bed everyday. Earn your lazy days, don't make them the norm. No pun intended;)
Hi Mark glad you enjoyed it we had fun making this one and we got to eat cookies 🍪 and drinks 🍵too LOL 😂 we love our smart watches they keep us informed have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍪🍺
Yes Interactions are important. I’m widowed so that makes it difficult… if you move to a new place after retirement you can also look for a new comers club to meet people…
I’ve had Tesla Model 3 for three years now. Mine is a long range version with a 325 mile range. It’s required no service or maintenance in those three years except a set of tires. Wonderful car I love mine. Love your channel and information. Thank you [Seattle Washington]
You two are so cute. My husband and I love watching your videos. We're in our late 40s, but feel like it's never too early to start thinking about what our retirement is going to look like.
tea and Scottish shortbread nice ah waking up to fresh coffee smells thats good must try that hmm electric cars big problem is range and lack of charging places hopeless on long drives across country some interesting topics discussed too *fully viewed👍Au👍gave you a huge like*
Hi Billy we love tea 🍵 and Scottish 🏴shortbread, glad you enjoyed it in Canada 🇨🇦 we are getting more and more charging stations all the time hope you have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇦🇺🍺🇨🇦
Hello Tina and Norm. Greetings from Denmark. We are F.I.R.E. and just waiting for the right moment to retire. We really enjoy your videoes here and we are learning from them. Keep up your work
I'm also an early riser- but don't start with coffee. I had a memory flash back to my parents retirement. They set their bread maker timer for 7am. Now there's a treat on an early morning. Apple watch for me. I do argue with it occasionally. When it says I need to stand ( at least one minute per hour) and I've just been prepping in the kitchen for 3 hours, I get a bit snaky! Good on you Tina, every step counts. Socializing with neighbors is a good thing. You never know when someone might need you to pop their newspaper under their door as they aren't well.Reading the paper together and enjoying our first coffee of the day- we so enjoy our leisurely start to the day. Reading, puzzles ( including Word search), editing, cooking, entertaining, keeping fit. My days just fly by and disappear with the setting sun so fast it makes my head turn. Latest project: Possible road trip from here to as far as the coastal route will take us possibly to Pau ( sth France) and route home still being planned. Hotel/BnB/Camper/caravan? Lots to think about and keeping the cogs in the brain well oiled.A month from now the shortest day- can only get lighter from there on in. Being in the position to plot and plan, daydream and visualize is a prerogative I am very happy to embrace. Happy days, be well, keep smiling. Loved the mugs by the way! 🙏💖🍷🌏🎶🇳🇱🙋♀️🇳🇿
Yes we think it’s very important to always be learning new things, like you You Tube keeps us busy always thinking of new ideas to film. Your road trip sounds nice is this for next year 🤔just being full of hope brings excitement in itself . Glad you like our mugs we also like the mornings being lighter, are you starting to get ready yet for Christmas 🎄 our foyer is fully decorated looks lovely hope you have a wonderful Sunday Cheers 🍷🇳🇱🍺🇨🇦☕️⌚️🤗
@@ThisIsOurRetirement The plan for the road trip is for mid March for about 5 weeks. The planning is indeed half the fun of the trip, and in these uncertain times, maybe all the fun! We won't decorate our foyer till after Sinterklaas has left the country and gone back to Spain. The tree and decorations will go up the 7th December. Tonight a new directive concerning restrictions COVID. It need not have come to this- but alas! Those who deny will spoil it for those who take care. We are keeping healthy, safe and as positive as we can, focussing on what is possible rather than on what is not. Sigh! Cheers, bottoms up and a great weekend ahead for all. 🍷 🍷 🍷 🕯 🙏 🇳🇱 🙋♀️ 🇳🇿 💖
@@IamaDutch-Kiwi Sounds nice to have a trip to look forward to all these Covid restrictions are making life very difficult in lots of countries hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍺🌺🍷
We start the day with coffee as a treat too. And UA-cam allows for constant learning... Wow.... yes.... treat ourself now... keep happy.... this is great to hear!! ~ Brad and Diana
Great advice as always. I chuckled during this one. I make a pot of coffee every morning and love my fitness watch. I need to get out and socialize more. Kind of tough for an introvert sometimes.
Cookie, surely a biscuit if you are from the UK. Aussie here and we would call them Shortbread biscuits. Love your videos, newly retired and can definitely relate to most of this. I have Fitbit versa 3 and I highly recommend it.
Hi . So good to see you both and glad things are going well. With the dark grey days I can't wait to put up the tree this year. So I may just do it a bit earlier than usual. Have a lovely weekend. See you next week. Take good care. 💖🏴
Sounds great! the foyer in our building is already fully decorated for Christmas 🎄 🤶☃️ it looks beautiful and we have had a couple of days of snow which is nice to see but goes away . Hope you are keeping well and warm enjoy your weekend Cheers 🏴 🍷🇨🇦🍺🎄🤗
It’s always nice and useful. You’re both a lovely couple and wonderful individuals. Your genuineness is very refreshing. Having been raised in the Midwest of the United States after migrating from Athens, Greece to the United States, you both remind me of the people I remember there in the early’70s: unpretentious, kind, responsible, and ‘getting-things done people’ as opposed to talking about it 😄😄. Stay well and healthy…bless you both and thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 .
I love you guys! I am a RN in Portland, OR. I will listen to your videos driving home from work, aside from your very helpful retirement information you guys make me smile. So thank you for that. 🌻
I fully agree with your comments of the fitbitt smart watch. I just love the fire works and vibrations that is triggered when reaching my 10,000 steps daily walk. A nice congratulation! Like a friend.
I semi retired 10 years ago. I drive a semi. Ha. I retired from my building trades career in October of 2011 and started my monthly pension then went to driving school to get my C.D.L. class A drivers license. I applied for and received a grant from the dislocated worker program that was signed into law by president Obama in 2009 after the U.S. economy crashed. I qualified for 3 thousand dollars towards my 5,200 dollar training cost. I had to jump through a few hoops and get several pre-hire letters from trucking companies that would hire me after completeing my training. I get to travel and see the country and get paid for it. some day I will fully retire. Your series is very enlightning and informative. Me and my wife like to visit our grandchildren, spoil them, and then give them back to their parents. Good times.
That sounds like a really great career change and lucky you got some financial help too. Yes Grandchildren are great for us to spoil and send back too 😂😂 Thanks so much for your kind words.
So much great information. Thanks guys this is all very relevant. My wife and I are treating ourselves today with a night out for today, our 39th Anniversary. I love shortbread. Cheers!!!
Excellent video. I think your going to see more and more charging stations going in parking lots and such. Thanks for sharing....cookies looked good ;^))
T&N, good points as always. Our generation has been very fortunate when reaching retirement. Our investments are in the same growth position. We are thankful that during our annual reviews with our financial advisor that our portfolio is in a growth position even after withdrawals. Then of course there is the real estate value explosion in Canada. During our 47 years of marriage, we have owned 10 homes due to numerous job transfers. 8 years ago we purchased our current home. It is also the smallest home we have owned - aka retirement home. It has increased in value by 3 1/2 times. Who would have thought that would be the case? (and the market is not going to crash). So with being mortgage free / debt free for many years, we are very very lucky.
Hi Peter we hear you we have had similar around 9 homes 🏡 in our 46 years of marriage, we have had gains and losses but our best deal was to sell 6 years ago at a great price and invest the money and rent our current home a beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment overlooking a lake with no unexpected costs that we had with our home although there was no mortgage ,we looked at all the costs now we don’t cut the grass , snowblow, and have to do any repairs we just call the superintendents to fix it this removes all the stress that brings a wonderful retirement, we wish you well Cheers🍷🌺🍺🙂
Love your channel! I’m 58 and my husband is 60. I’m semi retired. He is considering retiring in spring. We also want to travel a lot so thinking we might as well keep working until the world opens up more. Last year we bought an Tesla to replace my old Subaru. It was a great decision. I was a bit nervous but am slowly learning all the things it can do. It does make some elements of driving easier too! Do take an EV for a test drive. You may love it 😊
Congrats on getting your Tesla ( we are still thinking on this one ) with regard to the world 🌎 opening up for travel this could be a couple more years yet 🤔 don’t loose those years when you could be doing local travel together. As International travel was off for us we bought a trailer which is permanently on a Lakeside Campground 2 hours from home, we loved our first season and counting down the days till May 1st.You are both at the perfect age we were also 58 and 60 so glad we retired Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Hello, my wife and are retiring this year abroad. I inherited the numerous photo albums from my parents. My printer's scan bed can accommodate several pictures at a time, and automatically send them to my Google account as a jpg (Image) file. Now ready for future editing.
A smart watch is a great investment. I have an Fitbit 2. I like that it lets me know if someone has called or texted me. It is actually very accurate. My nurse at cardio rehab would compare our results to her device and it was always surprisingly close. Be aware though that if you crochet or conduct a band that this counts as steps. 😸 One of the best parts of retirement is looking out the window at a blizzard and knowing I don't have to scrape off my car and struggle to work in it. I especially enjoy having the time to create art and volunteer at a museum whenever I feel inspired.
Never thought about the action of crochet 🧶 or knitting 🧐 of which I don’t do either would add to your steps . I (Tina ) used to hate the drive in to the office in the snow ⛄️ knowing it is our time is just awesome Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
In see snowblower I have to give them up reminds of snow but always have extra sheer bolts always grease the auger and check the drive system for fluid or grease I damaged mine parts were 400 dollars easy repair
Ok you two., You went a step too far with shortbread cookies😂 Love them. Yes we have had Fitbit for awhile and we love them. We try to get our 8 thousand steps in as well. Finding a project hmmm finally got some more clearing out done from our move last year from UK so that was bonus🙄 We do virtual socializing which is great. We are still anxious to travel but cooling our heels for another 6 months. Soon to receive booster shot. Keep on smiling enjoy your videos..I am now off to let my husband know that Tina receives tea in the morning hand delivered by Norm. It's the other way round in our home 😉
If you were here there were plenty of shortbread to share 😂 Yes you need to set up that tea in bed! We like you want to travel but are working on your timeline as a minimum, maybe next winter back to Portugal. We aren’t close to getting any booster shots so are in no rush. Thanks so much for watching, have a great weekend. 😀😀
That was a great "visit " . Such good ideas . We also think we have to include the widows and widowers. They are often lonely and if they cont. to live in there homes it can become a problem .
We can’t imagine what it would be like to loose a partner after a lifetime together that’s why we have started to post videos on You tube so we both have memories in case one of us passes . 🌺❤️
As Always Good FRESH information. I absolutely appreciate you guys and love this channel. 'Happy', 'Laughter', Joy & Hope 4 the future is what keeps me coming back. I'm Grateful too. ❤️
Hi guys. Your approach is very similar to ours, and that is one of the reasons we are attracted to your videos. There are differences, of course, but I think we are all on a good track. One big difference is a decision we made some time ago following Jeanette's research, which has benefited us immensely. We now fast intermittently as follows. Morning coffee, about 8.30 am, breakfast anywhere between 12.30 and 1.30 (sometimes if we are out, we even forget and have had it as late as 3 pm). We then try to have dinner between 6.30 and 7. It has worked fabulously for us, and it shows up on our annual medical checkups. This is just an idea for your consideration after you research it, if this appeals to you. Cheers. Roger and Jeanette
Funny you should mention that Roger we actually tried intermittently fasting a few backs back and it sort of worked , maybe we should try it again have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
As a matter of fact, we just walked in after our daily walk (just 7 km today), and I am about to make breakfast at 1.30 pm. It feels great with no hunger pangs. Try it again; the health benefits are significant. I will be 79 next month, God willing. Good luck.
Really enjoyed this one and the timing was great with my husband and I just retiring. Some interesting points for us to keep in mind. The only problem is now I feel like some shortbread biscuits to go with my cup of tea :-)
Our condo in Ottawa is actually looking into the cost of getting chargers in our underground parking. There is a lot to consider but many people in the building are really excited about electric cars. Of course people would have to pay for their own hydro and the cost to put in the charger.
The chargers are run by companies, you get the app and pay per charge. We were going to get an electric vehicle but you can’t get them, the wait lists are running 9 to 12 months. Good luck.
Awesome advice as always. Keep it up \o/ - BTW - Almost forgot...I have heard, from friends that know friends, that the chances of EV prices going down in 2022 are quite high (maybe not Tesla but all depends who wants to get market share). Those shortbread biscuit cookies sure looked delicious...
Always look forward to your videos. Although we still have to ‘do’ stuff, I love the rest of the time just having the freedom to choose, take care you two all the best from the UK
Thanks so much, we just came back from 2 weeks of exploring Portugal and loved it, your inputs have been super helpful, we are planning to spend some winters in Portimao, and hopefully get to chat with you there!
Great to hear! we are glad you had a nice time Portugal 🇵🇹 is a lovely place we are also looking forward to being back there over Winter 🥶 hopefully next year Cheers 🍷🇵🇹🍺🇨🇦
I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks to your videos, Portugal is definitely on my list now. My goal is to live there in winter 2023 away from the Canadian winter! Your tea and shortbread made me think of a new video idea for you. Is there anything special you pack when you go to portugal? Canadian food items you bring with you, or unique items you always purchase in Portuguese grocery stores.
That’s great we are also hoping to be there for Winter 2023, we don’t really take any food with us but do have favourites we buy once in Portugal 🇵🇹 great idea for a video thanks. Have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇵🇹🇨🇦🍺🌺
I recently subscribed to your channel. Thank you very much for making these videos. I recently retired and I’ve found your videos very informative and reassuring as well. Keep it up!
LOVE your videos so much. I was watching old ones yesterday hoping you would upload. So we've booked our holiday for January to Portugal. We're landing in Lisbon, then driving to Algarve for 5 days. Then we'll drive back to Lisbon for another 5 days and will visit Sintra and Cascais. I wanted to visit Silver Coast, Coimbra and Porti but the driving may be a but much. Any advise?
We wish you a happy trip all we can advise is don’t spend all your time driving and not seeing and enjoying the beautiful place Portugal 🇵🇹 is . Doing the silver coast etc would be another vacation in itself , when you are back in Lisbon you could take the train 🚊 to Sintra and Cascais very enjoyable and you see lots more scenery have a wonderful trip make sure your hotel has parking in Lisbon Cheers 🍷🇵🇹🍺🇨🇦
Love your videos. You two are so cute together. Your videos are very informative and I am now planning ahead for my day of freedom which hopefully is a year or two from now. I am thinking of selling my house soon with it being a sellers market. As you both stated the downsizing aspect of it is a challenge. I have made a list of must haves and that helps a lot. It is surprising how little you really need or use for that matter. Oh and on a side note, I think you are going to have to increase your steps to 10000 from 8000 after seeing that full plate of Short bead cookies disappearing into thin air!!!!!
Sage advice...I love coffee and the smell really does seem to release the dopamine, for sure. As a huge Tesla fan, I can not recommend enough test driving a Tesla or renting one if you can. The waiting time is bananas right now, but for very good reason. The only brand that appreciates in value once you buy it. If you like the dopamine from coffee, get ready for a surge of it when you drive or ride in a Tesla..🚀
Totally agree nothing like the smell of fresh coffee ☕️, still thinking 🤔 on the Tesla and yes waiting times are crazy thanks for watching have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Your experience of finding your savings growing is not an unusual one for retirees. A recent study showed that after 18 years of retirement (so age 80 if you retired at 62) the median level of savings had dropped by only 11%. That is they still had almost 90% of their savings remaining and this was only the median, 35% of the retirees actually had more savings 18 years later. I think it's a good idea to perhaps have a plan for increased spending in the early "go-go" years of your retirement (which typically lasts to age 70-75) when you have the most energy and will likely be in the best health. I know from the experience of both my parents and grandparents that once you reach your late 70s or early 80s spending usually drops off significantly. Travel is often off the table and capital expenditures on cars, furniture etc. are often close to zero. I also know from experience that the mind set change from being a life long saver to spending what you've saved for retirement in your actual retirement is a big one and not an easy transition to make.
Great comment guess we are in our GoGo years LOL 😂 wish Covid would disappear so we can get back to safe travel .🚢✈️to still have 90% of your money at 80 sounds wonderful, thanks for dropping by have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement I suppose it sounds wonderful to still have 90% of your savings as you enter your 80s but another way of looking at it is that with your best years behind you, you probably could have enjoyed your retirement "go-go" years a little more than you did. It seems to me having 40% or 50% of your savings left as you hit your 80s would probably be okay. As they say: You can't take it with you.
@@ddavidson5 Absolutely agree yes it sounds a better number , we are busy spending and enjoying life but it seems even as we do that with dividends and pensions it keeps getting topped up 🧐
Thank you for the watch recommendation! I’ve been thinking of getting a smart watch, but couldn’t justify spending $400 for an Apple Watch. I’d rather save that money so I can retire 10 days sooner. ☺️
Hi Jim that’s great to hear thank you , we have a video on Portugal 🇵🇹 coming out next week but we won’t be back there till next Winter just don’t feel comfortable with all the Covid travel restrictions and what’s happening in Europe with the riots , lockdowns etc at the moment. Have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇵🇹🍺🇨🇦

I like what you said” treat for yourself, you deserve it”. Bravo.
Thanks Judy!
Thank you both for talking about the important retirement stuff. I have a tendency to be too frugal and think about financial stuff too much. You guys keep me balanced and cheer me up.
Our pleasure!thats really nice to hear thank you 🙂☕️
Great tips sledgehammered that like button stay safe awesome and blessed enjoyed and shared
Thanks for visiting hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🇺🇸 🍷🇨🇦🍺
I love being able to wake up and slowly start my day. A cup of tea then a walk is the best thing about being retired to me.
Yep it sure is
We retired early I was 55 and my husband this year at 58 .We are busy enjoying our life walking together enjoying the outdoors we have smart watches .Keeps us on track.
Congratulations Richard on your upcoming retirement and move, we really wish you a long and happy retirement.
my family lives in one of the most expensive states for retirees. surrounding states appear to have a better deal, but property taxes and sales taxes more than make up for that.
Spot on! We have been doing exactly what you’ve suggested. Thanks for the tip on digitization of the photos.
Very welcome! glad you enjoyed it have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
just love you too and I'm 58 !!. Just continue to do what you're both doing....love the coffee story.
Thanks so much!! have a wonderful day Cheers 🌺🍷🙂
You are the nicest retired couple I have seen. Enjoy your retirement.
That is so kind thank you.
Stay curious to keep healthy. Agreed❤️🎉. I love learning.
Hi Kathy we think it’s the secret 🤫 to a happy retirement have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Most important thing when you getting old: keep learning, keeping up with the technology.
Great comment thanks for sharing have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
That sounds great Kristy thanks for sharing your story , yes gas ⛽️ prices have gone through the roof LOL 😂😂 have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌻🍺
Great sharing I enjoyed this so much 💗👍
Hope you have a lovely weekend friend 🥰 can't wait to watch your next videos
Thanks so much glad you enjoyed it and that you like our videos , hope you have a wonderful week see you on Saturday Cheers 🍷🇨🇦🍺
Very useful tidbits for any one. Thank you
Glad you think so! hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Johin Lenon said, "life is what happens when your busy making plans"
I have returned to the activities I used to love but, fell out of favor over the years-- kayaking, archery and audio systems.
Sounds like a wonderful plan with lots to keep you busy have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🛶🍺
We totally agree! If you fail to plan you plan to fail!
Hi Mark glad you enjoyed it we had fun making this one and we got to eat cookies 🍪 and drinks 🍵too LOL 😂 we love our smart watches they keep us informed have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🍪🍺
We couldn’t agree more 🌺
Yes Interactions are important. I’m widowed so that makes it difficult… if you move to a new place after retirement you can also look for a new comers club to meet people…
That is also one of the reasons to live in an apartment, always some one to chat too we have lots of single people in our building Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Volunteer activities are rewarding. You meet people, you do good. More love all around. Even just a few hours a week.
Great idea thanks for sharing gets you out of your home and socializing at the same time perfect 👍 Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
A positive, grateful attitude is so important!!
Love you guys! Keep ip the great work!
Thank you! Will do! we hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
I’ve had Tesla Model 3 for three years now. Mine is a long range version with a 325 mile range. It’s required no service or maintenance in those three years except a set of tires. Wonderful car I love mine. Love your channel and information. Thank you [Seattle Washington]
That is impressive, we are booking in for a test drive, we are torn between model 3 or Y Thanks for your thoughts.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement model Y is newer, a bit higher, more roomy. Seems nice I think you would like them both. Model Y is more like an SUV style.
@@richardackley1823 We are looking forward to seeing and trying both have a great week Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦🍺
You two are so cute. My husband and I love watching your videos. We're in our late 40s, but feel like it's never too early to start thinking about what our retirement is going to look like.
Thank you Michele, you are way ahead by being aware of the future, finances and all and we really appreciate you and your husbands support Thank you!
tea and Scottish shortbread nice ah waking up to fresh coffee smells thats good must try that hmm electric cars big problem is range and lack of charging places hopeless on long drives across country some interesting topics discussed too
*fully viewed👍Au👍gave you a huge like*
Hi Billy we love tea 🍵 and Scottish 🏴shortbread, glad you enjoyed it in Canada 🇨🇦 we are getting more and more charging stations all the time hope you have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇦🇺🍺🇨🇦
Good program. Shows a source for ideas/pursuits for retirees. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello Tina and Norm. Greetings from Denmark. We are F.I.R.E. and just waiting for the right moment to retire. We really enjoy your videoes here and we are learning from them. Keep up your work
Thank you so much, we wish a happy retirement when it comes! Thanks for watching we appreciate it. 🇨🇦🇩🇰
It’s the simple things that made the difference, thanks for watching
Great advice as always. I chuckled during this one. I make a pot of coffee every morning and love my fitness watch. I need to get out and socialize more. Kind of tough for an introvert sometimes.
Glad you enjoyed this one, the thought of socialization is worse than the actual doing it.
Cookie, surely a biscuit if you are from the UK. Aussie here and we would call them Shortbread biscuits. Love your videos, newly retired and can definitely relate to most of this. I have Fitbit versa 3 and I highly recommend it.
Guess we have been here so long they are cookies 🍪 either way delicious 😋 congratulations 🥳 on your retirement 🇦🇺 🍷🇨🇦🙂
Love all your great thoughts such as net worth annually. ...also waking up and smelling the coffee ....literally ☺
Thanks for watching Auriel glad you enjoy our videos have a wonderful day Cheers 🍷🙂🌺
Nice couple. Honest and sincere.
Thank you so much , we hope you enjoy your weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
You two are such gems 💎 love your videos and insights. Sending hellos from a 42yo Ontario gal and my husband 😘💜🇨🇦
That is awesome! we hope you see lots of tips that might help you when you get nearer to retiring . Have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌻🍺
Thanks so much! 😊 have a wonderful weekend Dean 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦🍺
You’re most welcome…wishing you a great weekend as well
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 .
Now you need to take your trailer and see more of Canada, it’s a gorgeous country.
It’s permanently on a Lakeside Campground, but yes it’s a great country Cheers 🍷🇨🇦🍺
I love you guys! I am a RN in Portland, OR. I will listen to your videos driving home from work, aside from your very helpful retirement information you guys make me smile. So thank you for that. 🌻
Awesome! Thank you! have a great weekend Stefanie Cheers 🍷🌻🙂
I'm so thankful to have found your channel; it's very helpful. You guys are such a sweet couple; God Bless:-)

I fully agree with your comments of the fitbitt smart watch. I just love the fire works and vibrations that is triggered when reaching my 10,000 steps daily walk. A nice congratulation! Like a friend.
Well said! it makes exercising fun 🤩 hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷⌚️🍺🌺
I am always happy watching you both.
Thanks so much Cheers 🍷🌺🙂
So much great information. Thanks guys this is all very relevant. My wife and I are treating ourselves today with a night out for today, our 39th Anniversary. I love shortbread. Cheers!!!
Happy Anniversary 🥂🥳have a great night out tonight , we love Scottish 🏴shortbread too Cheers 🍷🍪🍺
Thanks again. We are 5-10 from retirement and just starting to make the moves to get set. Thanks for your videos!!!
That is awesome! thanks for watching you have time to plan which is great just remember those years fly by very quick LOL 😂Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
In Canada, we community senior centers that organize all kind of activities and group.
Good point thanks for the suggestion 🌺
Thanks for the video. I'm a happy retiree in Kenya and I have taken a few good points from the video.
Glad it was helpful!Have a wonderful weekend Mashua Cheers 🍷🙂🌺
Excellent video. I think your going to see more and more charging stations going in parking lots and such.
Thanks for sharing....cookies looked good ;^))
Thanks for watching, we agree more charging stations are appearing and it’s the future?
Love my Apple Watch too, the hand wash app makes hand washing so much fun and make sure I lathering the soap on my hand for 20 seconds.
That is awesome! we love our watches ⌚️Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Hello, my wife and are retiring this year abroad. I inherited the numerous photo albums from my parents. My printer's scan bed can accommodate several pictures at a time, and automatically send them to my Google account as a jpg (Image) file. Now ready for future editing.
Wow that sounds like a great job Gary to keep you busy we wish you both a very happy retirement Cheers 🍷🌺🍺

You look great together. Having a nice partner makes happier retirement.
Yes it does! have a great weekend Mikhail Cheers 🌺🇨🇦🍷
I love your watch Tina. It looks like mine. 👍 love your videos too. I will be retiring in 2023 and l have gotten many great tips from you.
Wonderful!we wish you all the best hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🙂
One of the best parts of retirement is looking out the window at a blizzard and knowing I don't have to scrape off my car and struggle to work in it.
Love it- wake up and smell the coffee. Agree good mood and it’s made for you. Love the thought❤️.
Oh it’s wonderful ☕️☕️❤️
In see snowblower I have to give them up reminds of snow but always have extra sheer bolts always grease the auger and check the drive system for fluid or grease I damaged mine parts were 400 dollars easy repair
@@iandermott6558 We have lost a few sheer bolts on the newspaper buried in the snow lol Don’t miss snow blowing at all.

We check ours regularly too Dan have a great weekend Cheers 🌺🍷😎

Thanks for watching Cheers 🍷🐣🌺🙂
That was a great "visit " . Such good ideas . We also think we have to include the widows and widowers. They are often lonely and if they cont. to live in there homes it can become a problem .
We can’t imagine what it would be like to loose a partner after a lifetime together that’s why we have started to post videos on You tube so we both have memories in case one of us passes .

Yes planning helps relieve stress have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇬🇧🇨🇦🍺
Glad you enjoyed it! we wish you both a happy and healthy retirement , hope you have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇦🇺🇨🇦🍺🌺
Good luck.
Been a while guys! But you are looking happy and healthy! Like the grandparents I never had. :D
What a sweet comment 🌺 lovely to see you again , we hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇨🇦🍺

BTW - Almost forgot...I have heard, from friends that know friends, that the chances of EV prices going down in 2022 are quite high (maybe not Tesla but all depends who wants to get market share).
Those shortbread biscuit cookies sure looked delicious...
Interesting point especially as vehicle shortages have driven up prices for new and used. Yep shortbread cookies...wonderful. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for your videos.
Glad you like them!thanks for watching Cheers 🍷🌻🍺
Walkers makes a nice biscuits now try elmvale for their butter tarts and yes it is 5 o'clock somewhere
The shortbread we were eating was Paterson’s , yes Walkers are great we will have to try the butter tarts we like them with raisins in Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Loved this video, the cookies got to be swapped for a fresh fruit with almond butter😀
@@joan5631 Wow 🤩 that sounds delicious 😋 glad you enjoyed it have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🙂
Thanks for watching must admit we do love Tea 🍵 and shortbread , great time to start downsizing , decluttering ready to sell Good Luck Cheers 🍷🌻🍺
We got German watches and are having lots of fun too!
The information is great that you get.
Great comment we love our smart watches ⌚️you can retire earlier or buy 6 for the price of 1 LOL 😂😂 Happy New Year Cheers 🥳⌚️🥂🙂
Really look forward to spending a few minutes with you both every weekend! Thanks for doing this. When are you off to Portugal?
Hi Jim that’s great to hear thank you , we have a video on Portugal 🇵🇹 coming out next week but we won’t be back there till next Winter just don’t feel comfortable with all the Covid travel restrictions and what’s happening in Europe with the riots , lockdowns etc at the moment. Have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇵🇹🍺🇨🇦
