    Back when I worked with my horses , I thought I was the only one that thought working with them was so simple , if you use your brains - now I know there's at least two of us that know whats possible when you communicate with them correctly. Gr8 video.

    I read both of his books and seen some videos of his join up method, it has made me cry. I would of been one of those to faint as I was abused growing up. I didn't know about the foster children but I think it's wonderful to take children that most would not foster and give them a new lease and outlook on life. Thanks Monty for doing what you do- You are the most wonderful human being and if people listen to you maybe there is hope for humanity.

    Monty said some people said this wild mustang was a fluke or an easy one and why he (Monty) had it easy. BUT I say this. When you do your work very well, it always looks easy. I am not a professional dog trainer but have trained all my dogs with somewhat this style and I too raised my boys this way too :-)

    I watched all 3 or 4 of these videos back to back..would of watched more too! Monty is absolutely right and knows a horse's character like he was one himself. He has my vote! Being a horse lover myself, I see how everything he says makes absolute sense and if it wasn't for such a traumatic occurrence by his father, he might not have had the deep desire to not hurt one, but speak to the horse's heart. If there is a DVD or Bluesy to buy about this righteous connection to horses, please let me know. And thank you, Monty, for the ability to turn a harmful for life situation, into a beneficial one to include and teach the world.🐴💓

    You can see Monty Roberts is a True Gentle man.. And regardless of his humbleness, he has this Special Extra thing which is extremely rare.! When You watch this Gentle Man, with such a Loving Soul and you place that Special Extra thing in front of the Ordinary - the Extraordinary Gentleman helps everything fall into place..! The sheer Magnitude of what you’re watching starts to register- a Animal is actually communicating and possibly for the Very First Time with a Human..! Also you can see the Animal is grateful to it’s heart cause of being Understood.. And you can see how truly important it was for Mr. Roberts, after his success with the Mustang Mr. Roberts was all choked up, holding back the tears of Joy and I don’t think the Joy-factor is merely related to the accomplishment-factor but more to the - I was there & I got to watch it happen - oh and My New Friend wasn’t hurt or anything, Oh I am So Happy..!! That’s how it felt watching this remarkable Gentle Man and I am So Grateful coming across this film - it feels like I sneaked into Heaven watch a training film for Angels on the Secrets of God’s Creatures - this has been a gift for me and Thank you, Thank you

      In fact it's ONLY mindsets like Monty's that will rescue our planet and save us all from mass death by listening to its needs; hopefully we have finally learned that destroying nature is not the answer to anytihing, and that wisdom for non-human creatures is deep in their DNA. Apparently evolving our human consciousness was a trade-off, and we lost the inherited wisdom of our own species, and then decided it doesn't exist for anyone else either! 🙄

    Many people who have cats are living with animals that are essentially wild. But, I once had a cat who was entirely trusting of me and she was completely open to training. I was able to teach her to come, to never go certain places like the counter tops, and to walk with me. Once she became smeared with horse manure and she allowed me to place her into a bathtub of water to cleanse her. Cats are not noted for readily taking to water. But she trusted me and in a moment when she was in great trouble, she trusted I wanted only to help.
    I have to believe it is the same with horses. If they believe you are well disposed to them, they will trust and accept your lead.

    monty i feel the need to tell you this i was a dog trainer for around ten years and i had a program that i put my dogs on eg ( force fetch ) was a program to make the dog to understand the word fetch and what its meaning was i would take a 16 foot bench put a line a bove it running with the bench i would put the dog on the with a choke collar on with a lead running up to the line then i would tie a string to its toes on one paw then stand in front of the dog and say fetch as i did that i would pull on the string and yes the dog would open its mouth because it was yelping then i would put the dummy in its mouth and if he dropped it pull on string till i got it back in mouth and so on i am sure you get the idea then i retired from the dog trials and doing dogs for duck hunters then i got winston he is a 15 yr black lab and i didnt do any of my training with him i never yelled or laied a hand on him i sat him down and explained to him is wrong when he did them and warded him when done good and i tell you he his so loyal and fun and the respect i get from him is unbelievable i wont have him much longer but he showed me a new way of training and i believe it can be done with anything just like u have figured out oh i have to tell you i have a horse i got him when he was three he is eight now i wish i knew about you then i got him now i feel things are going to be looking better for him and i now u have showed me alot about horsemenship if i only knew it sooner but i got it now so it is time to applly it and i will let you know how it turns out and yes i know its me and not the horse i just hope that i can bring him to understand that i can be his leader and i can protect him and that i love him and will care for him 110%more last thing i like to say wish the world was full of man like you how beautiful it would be by the way i am 52yrs if you were wondering lol maybe not these are the worse thing to write on but anyways thank so very much for sharing and god bless

    I wish I can learn this “gentling” and apply it to the horses at my local animal shelter. We get a few of them and a lot of them are not handled, some don't even seem to trust humans so they just stay there in their little pins hoping to get adopted for a $100.
    How I wish I can learn this! But I don't even have a horse to try this with and an amateur going to a semi wild horse is a death sentence for the amateur.

    I don't ride horses, but have always had a affinity for them, and love them. One thing is for sure, you have to have gentleness and sensitivity, and must understand, that they are very sensitive & highly intelligent. They react to kindness. And yet they are so often abused, It does make me cry when I hear or see that. How for example, walking horsesm are brutally whipped. I frankly do not like horse racing. These horses do not live long after they are through racing, are sent to slaughter houses, or are neglected. You are one of the rarest kindest human being. I very much enjoyed watching your video. I am glad I came across your wonderful video. .

    • @fayerose6321
      @fayerose6321 8 років тому +1

      +Adele Zierler , If you want to see kindness, google Fredric Pignon, or The Flying Frenchman, or Imke Spilker. Also Sally Swift, Linda Tellington Jones, ....It is amazing what can be done with horses when you care about THEM more than you care about yourself.

  • @fayerose6321
    @fayerose6321 8 років тому +11

    It is sensational that he did this. I still hold to the belief that there is too much force used. So what if it takes a lot longer. I believe he is doing a whole lot better than his father did, and I give him a lot of credit for that. I also believe that there are still kinder ways than using whips and spurs on horses. I have been training for over 40 years. I used to do things this way,but have found kinder, more considerate ways to partner up with a horse. It takes a lot longer, but the horse appreciates it so much more. Horses need to be given the chance to say "NO" once in a while, and have the human acknowledge it. I have found that the more I allow the horse to say no to simple things, the more anxious they are to say yes after understanding that you care enough to let them have a say. Safety first at all times, reward the horse for every little "try", understand when to say we've done enough, and be honest, trustworthy, and true to your word.

      I can't speak for all, but i do know that programs are out there to rehabilitate retired race horses and retain them for new careers. Some even tale into account if racing just isn't a horses thing and change to training for other disciplines. I'm glad to day a good friend of mine is a part of this and puts what's best for the horse ahead of what forcing the horse to "do the job it was born for" so to speak.

      Rick P I know you're probably just being facetious, but good communication and "training" are two different things. The goal of "training" is obedience, while the goal of "communication" is understanding. I prefer to think that a good relationship is one between equals, where understanding is key.

      +Akuinnen24 And the same goes for horses. In this video the horse is never given a chance to say NO. It is pursued relentlessly, til it is so tired it has to give in. And when it fights back it is tied up by ropes to another horse. it has no chance to express itself without being totally restrained. if you want to have a conversation with a horse, you have to listen, more than whisper.
