I pre-ordered Cities after watching your run through and pre-ordered Middle Ages after watching Kimberly's run through. The run throughs are essential in helping me pick games for me and my spouse. They both look SO good.
Thanks for pointing out the Uganda project. I went ahead and supported it. Didn’t like the fact that Crowdfunder takes a default 10£ for itself and makes it kind of obtuse of how to remove that.
Didn't have this problem but I selected a custom amount. Also, I selected a custom amount for 'tip' to Crowdfunder which is totally on a voluntary basis.
Wow! Thanks a lot for your list and for all the nice words about Spectacular! Glad you liked it so much:) At GenCon, Chilifox will be represented by Surfin Meeple USA, booth 2211. Limited copies will be for sale. Essen will be the main launch for this game, and Chilifox has their own booth there. Regarding North America, distributors have already shown interest, so hopefully this game will be widely available in a few months.
I played Mezen at Gencon on Thursday, and I really enjoyed it! I love the sliding puzzle! I kept exclaiming in delight when I figured something out or something worked out--and did that till the end because it is a pretty short game. Great game arc and pacing.
Thank you for including Jekyll & Hyde vs Scotland Yard on your list. We have 18 game making their Gen Con debut this year at the 25th Century Games booth (#1233), so plenty of options for any gamer. Stop by and say hello! - chad
I admit I skipped ahead to see your #1 and OMG!!! I put that game on my #1 most anticipated since late 2022! And I know I've heard you talk about it for a long time, too. I adore Elf Creek, so glad they rose from their ashes and are delivering on their promises! My one goal watching Gen Con videos is the single hope of seeing someone demo it! Ok, gonna go back to watching the full list now like a good viewer lol In the meantime, Hickory Dickory is another great fun game to play with roundel and mice! ;)
Jonny Pac and I did the development for Watches and Clocks, and I'm really excited to share this with people. :) If you give a mouse a cookie, you can follow their action and make some great watches and clocks. See you at Gen Con Event Hall B.
You consistently highlight games that I love so when you talk about games I don't know about, I'm more likely to look into these because we seem to have the same interests. Also, I will be helping demo ancient knowledge at GenCon so feel free to stop by lol.
Hiya! Thanks for these GenCon look into suggestions! Several that I’m pretty excited about. Ps, where did ya get your hoodie! That looks perfect for my hubby! 😁👌
Mostly different forms of drafting and set collection. Each of the three rounds has four parts, the fourth part is always set building and only two parts of two of those rounds are bidding. Haven't played at two but don't think it would hurt the game.
Couldn't seem to find the info that says Ancient Knowledge expansion helps eliminate take that cards - is anybody else able to confirm? (this would be a big improve for us as well)
i did a preview of all the expansions at the convention in my extended preview (as well as over 100 games discussed) at www.patreon.com/posts/ramble-76-over-q-109009837 :)
i should add though there were only 17 (out of 78 on the list) expansions that stood out to me as worthy of checking out, so i'm not sure it'd be worth the $2 to temporarily peek behind the paywall :)
35:00 Adulthood Game, lacks anything game trailer or gameplay video about the game. Making it hard to know how the gameplay looks like. I hope someone or a few people do make videos soon about this game, because I'm interested.
I think Ancient Knowledge is still available in online shops at least in Europe. It is also available on Amazon. This is what we normal pepole do when we want to play a game 😀
yup, the problem is if i buy a game, i don't play it because i have a queue of games that have been sent to me by publsihers which takes higher priority. i've got a whole bunch of games that sit at the bottom of the queue waiting to be played as a result ( bought.rahdo.com ) :)
here's the other list of currently waiting for coverage games i've got on my shelves: pubsent.rahdo.com these all come before the games of the other list, so that's the situation i find myself in :)
tbh i looked at the different ascension settings and i can see they'd all make the game harder, but not more complex, and i don't think they'd lead to us making different choices because i've got one less hit point, or have one fewer potion :)
@@rahdo I understand how it can seem like that, but in my experience it does because you have to be much more flexible in your builds to be able to make it. There are people who's work is to stream the video game and its kind of only what they do, so I'd call that pretty deep. You really have to understand the strength and different combinations of the cards to be able to win at higher difficulty. You wont always get the clear builds like "poison build" or "strength build" etc just because those cards won't come up, so you have to adapt and find synergies you might not have thought about before. And the fact that the relics are random force you to specialize to work with them. Think you'd be surprised how deep the game is! :)
Also I'd prefer anyway that the complex part is in how I build my deck rather than in that enemies significantly become more complex. They do definately get harder on higher ascension, so they counter some unprepared decks more, but the complexity comes from those choices of which cards you pick up, which is a strategy joy to me! :)
@@rahdo It does force you to make different decisions. At the lower difficulty the game is fairly forgiving and you can get away with just adding cards because they seem fun. At higher difficulty, adding redundant cards to your deck, even very good cards, will make you lose. Upgrading the wrong cards will make you lose. You have to constantly balance your ability to handle all of the different kinds of threats the game can throw at you. There are, however, many different ways to approach each kind of threat giving the game a huge amount of depth and replayability.
@Rahdo If you do happen to play Ancient Knowledge, be sure to remove the few cards and technologies (there are only a few!) that do negative things to other players. Removing those cards isn't game breaking and are simply ways to slow down possible runaway leader issues.
yeah, i passed on covering the game last year because of those cards, and it wasn't until 6 months later that the publisher said "if you don't like them, just take them out and it won't hurt the balance of the game at all" and by then, i'd missed the window on covering it, and i've been trying to get a review copy every since!!! 😕
i talked about this in my extended ~150ish games video, and fateforge & cascadia rolling were tied for my #6 spot on the "games i've played" list. it *almost* pushed into my #5 which would have replaced cafe :)
Hello, fello coffee despiser! Even if the smell didn't make me sick, the fact that people treat coffee as the ultimate snobby-wank-fest makes me feel even more sick 🤣
nope, also not a tea fan. basically for most of my life i've only drunk water. when i was a kid i liked soda, but i grew out of that in my teens. i do love milkshakes, but that's basically ice cream :)
Welp, that’s it!!! I’m unsubbing. The coffee hate is just too much for me. Any sicko that keeps supporting this channel needs to get their head checked. 😂 jk jk Keep up the good work team!
Ancient Knowledge is not that good. Especialy because you are trying to lose those lost Knowledge tokens, that are negative points at the end of the game. It is not as much getting positive points than how to lose those negative.
2:53 Rahdo tells us to please stop the video and go donate. We did! Resuming video with a happy feeling :) Great cause!
Very cool Uganda board game convention and how games are having an impact! Thanks for sharing❤

So excited to get hands on Witchcraft!
Fantastic video for 2024 games. I didn't make it this year but next I think I will be there.

Katie and I are so excited to go to this years Gen Con❤
Wow. I have Cafe with Expresso. I had no idea it was rare. Great game.
Looking forward to the spectacular runthrough!
will be posted tomorrow (tuesday) :)
Awesome :)
As an author of one game which will be present on gencon I recommend AI Space Puzzle ;)
Hiya! Thanks for these GenCon look into suggestions! Several that I’m pretty excited about.

Comic Hunters can be order from Barnes and Noble now for $25 super fun drafting game.

well here's the designer of AK confirming it, but that was in oct last year... boardgamegeek.com/thread/3172114/article/43165679#43165679
@@rahdo this is super helpful, thanks! They should have done a better job putting it on the box/rules - this will be a must buy for us now too!
Great video! Honestly, would also enjoy a similar video on top expansions coming at Gen Con

i'll be having a runthrough for it posted by next week if all goes to plan! :)
Posting to give some love to Mistwind. Not enough people are talking about.
agreed! it's that rarest of beasts: a pickup and deliver game that i actually enjoy! :) ua-cam.com/video/L6mQPd3rCSs/v-deo.html

Spectacular looks fun, but I don't see the publishers (Chilifox Games & Geronimo Games) on the exhibit hall list.
here's a direct link to it on the preview list: boardgamegeek.com/geekpreview/67/gen-con-2024-preview?parentitem=10203 :)
Speaking of time tracks what happend with the Darwin's Journey final thoughts?
i did end up talking about it in the monthly roundup here: ua-cam.com/video/w_ZyjCXV534/v-deo.html

i talked about this in my extended ~150ish games video, and fateforge & cascadia rolling were tied for my #6 spot on the "games i've played" list. it *almost* pushed into my #5 which would have replaced cafe :)
Hello, You know if O Bom Do Videogame (Videogame Champion) will be in Gen Con?
yes it will be there. i talked about it in my extended gencon preview video that i mentioned at the end of this video. it looks very cool! :)
Is Comic Hunters old? BBG says it's 2020.
yup, it's been picked up for wider distribution this year

not my cup of tea :)
