I had to reply to this. I am of Serbian background, but I spent about 7 years in West Africa., I have hung out and lived with and alongside the Fulani Tribe!, What a beautiful people., When I was in Ghana, I was very surprised and disappointed to see and learn, the wealthy Ashanti Kings buy Fulani kids from the poorest families, with a promise to give them a"better life", however in most cases, these kids end up being used as slaves, and in some cases as sex slaves for the wealthy Kings. In some cases the kids are even kidnapped from the Northern Region by the wealthy kings goons, and brought to the central region to slave for the wealthy. This practice has been in effect for over 1000 years now, and these wealthy kings are the direct descendants of the kings who were business partners with the European corporations that executed the entire slave trade. It's so sad that slavery still thrives in West Africa. I pray for the Fulani people, and they shall be blessed, because they do not practice slavery, and they are peaceful, and live in tune with nature.

Cuban indigenous peoples are not African, and originally didn't look African. After the slave trade, a lot were killed and mixed with the African slaves. So now as of today, a lot of the decedents look of african descent. But in their indigenous culture they dont say that, you are just called indigenous or whatever tribe your descend from. So today they can be what we call "black" but they are indigenous.

My last name is Merida and my family are slave descendants but we have heavy ties to Belize which is just under Mexico were the Mayans were from. My great-grandfather made sure we knew who we were and our history and always insisted that "my people" were here first and are not directly from Africa. He insisted that most slaves in Texas were indeed captured indians. One of my Grand parents is named Allen Dimery who was a free black man who owned hundreds of acres of land from Dallas to Houston. They stole his land and built I 45 on most of it. We also went to court against Petro and Sunoco for stealing the mineral rights of his land but the elders settled out of court years ago and the family doesnt know what actually happened because the royalties are contracted to go into a trust and the attorney refuses to release the information on who's actually receiving it.
